GREAT CAMERA -Sony Alpha a7 II

Jun 7, 2018

I have been using Sony Alpha a7 II for three weeks now and love love love my images. I do a lot of Black & White street photography with manual lenses only! I use it with my Leica 28mm F2.8, Zeiss 35mm f2.8 and Voigtlander 40mm f1.4. yes, a bit more weight than the A6000 but it's no big deal. A must have camera- love it!

Pretty decent camera

May 18, 2018

I have used this camera for 2 years now and it has served me well! I do both photo and video and it has worked great. A lot of times I feel like I am pushing the limits of the camera though and wish I had a little more to work with. Very great camera over all, just feel like I need to upgrade

Do not bother with this camera

Apr 14, 2018

I have used my a900 for 8 years now. Puts this camera to shame. Battery life is appalling, and unless you perfect vision focusing will it be fun. Do yourself a favor and pass on this model. Wish I had :(

Great camera at current price for right use

Mar 20, 2018

Now the A7II is being eclipsed by the A7III, is this still a valid choice at $1,000? For some people, yes! I am only using MF lenses. 5FPS is plenty, mostly only shoot in single mode anyhow. 24MP is all the resolution I need or want. The EVF of the A7III is not any better than the one in the A7III. I don't use the video camera in the A7II. What does this camera offer? 5 axis IBIS is nice both for the ability to handhold at slower speed an... Show More

I might have gotten a lemon BUT

Feb 23, 2018

1. The auto switch from monitor to viewfinder is absolutely useless. You can't take a photo from below your waist - the monitor shuts off (google this EVERYONE complains about it) your only choice is to put it on monitor or viewfinder and then go into a complicated menu to change it (impossible). HORRIBLE design. 2. The date on the camera needs to be reset every time I change the battery. And that also is with a complicated menu. 3. Shooting into... Show More

Five Stars for getting to the basics

Feb 22, 2018

Five stars for getting to the basics. I would rate its more expensive siblings at less than 5 stars, cuz the price difference is out of proportion. The basic a7-II is a fine machine, not perfect, but not expensive. Its "hot rodded" version [the "S" and "R" variants] are basically this camera with a couple of improvements that MOST users will not benefit from ... surely, some few WOULD benefit. The a7 series is currently the ONLY 24x36mm format l... Show More

Nice upgrade from the original A7

Feb 20, 2018

I've slowly been coaxed over to the dark mirrorless side. While my favorite camera is a digital M, which is technically a mirrorless camera, I've been loathe to use an EVF camera. When the original A7's dipped below $1k I picked one up to use a film scanner with a Leica BEOON. After experimenting with a few adapters to try out my M glass (some Leica and some Zeiss) and a few Zeiss SLR lenses, I soon came to see the utility of the A7 series with ... Show More

Best bang for the money

Dec 31, 2017

I have had the original A7, the original A7S, and now the A7 II. I sold the A7S bodies and have two A7 II bodies that I use mainly for video and I use old legacy lenses. The fact you can get a full frame body, with IBIS, and S LOG for $1,300 is mind blowing. I give this five stars because it does everything it's made to do, and does it well. in my opinion this camera is the best value of all cameras today. Using cameras is how I pay my bills and put food on the table.

Almost Perfect

Dec 18, 2017

I switched to this camera from a Sony a99. Since it cost less than half of what I paid for my a99, I wasn't expecting much. But I am truly and pleasantly surprised at this small little wonder. About the only thing I'm not happy about is the small battery. The 5 axis steady shot is definitely an improvement on the previous models. The Pre Auto Focus is also a useful feature. The ISO Range is also slightly improved compared to the a99. Pictures shot at 6400 ISO are usable. I just hope the monitor screen is scratch proof.

A Full Frame Beast

Dec 15, 2017

I come from video, and had lenses for my VG900. Previously I had an a6000 for stills, which is a good camera but struggles in low light without full frame. Looking to migrate to wedding photography instead of video, I checked this out since its an entry level FF. Did not disappoint. As with any camera, lenses matter. I was used to the menu functions as its the same as other Sonys, a small learning curve but pretty easy to figure out. Others ment... Show More

I really love this camera.

Dec 8, 2017

I tried going from Nikon to Fuji and was never satisfied with the Fuji system. However, I did like the mirrorless. Sold all my Fuji stuff and bought the A7ii on Black Friday. I like the feel of the camera and actually like the weight. It has a hefty feel to it. I tried the A7 and happy I moved up to the A7ii.

This camera-Sony A7 ii is a really awesome one for who wants to upgrade from a crop camera up to a full-frame one.One little problem is that B&H just sent me a wrong box which contains only the body even though I ordered a kit.But still, it's a nice camera.

Full Frame Power!

Oct 16, 2017

I absolutely love my A7ii The image quality is top notch and paired with the 24-70 f/2.8 or the 70-200 f/2.8 is really unstoppable. The dynamic range is also mind-blowing. I originally got it with the 28-70 bundle but had to return it. The lens had serious focus issues. I even thought it was the camera but it turned out it was the kit lens! I've read a lot about battery issues but honestly not a problem for me as I always carry extra batteries. Here are some shots I made with it and the 70-200 F/2.8 G-Master Cheers!

Everything I expected it to be

Sep 28, 2017

Bought this camera to back up my Sony a7r, a fine camera for the tripod work I usually do. But the a7r is less than great off the tripod. Without image stabilization, you have to shoot live subjects at relatively high speeds while autofocus is relatively slow. The a7II fills both of those gaps. It's great for live shots and in lower-light venues. At 24 mega pixels, its sensor offers resolution as fine as Sony's a99, until recently Sony's top of t... Show More

Exellent Camera

Sep 8, 2017

I upgraded from a a6000 to the a7II and absolutely love the camera. So far I've only used the camera to shoot sporting events with much success. I only have two recommendations: - purchase the battery pack ? as you will be disappointed in the battery life. - reprogram the scene selection dial ? it's a little close to the shutter button and is very easy to bump. Overall excellent camera with great results!

Great small full-frame camera.

Sep 5, 2017

Great small, light, compact full-frame camera that produces sharp,, high resolution pictures in low as well as normal light. Beautiful pairing with Zeiss 55 mm f/ 1.8 Sonnar lens; outstanding. Only major negative so far is short battery life, that can be offset by purchasing an extra battery or two plug-in charger. Wi-fi tile transfer to computer is not as straight-forward as initially thought. View finder works will.

Aug 8, 2017

This is a fantastic camera with great image quality in a small package. The technology is amazing. I learned the hard way that you should not count on any weather sealing. This is my second A7ii. I lost the first to a very small amount of water that got behind the articulated screen. Despite that, I ordered another.
