I Love Little Cameras That Shoot Pro Quality Images!
My expectations of this camera was to allow me to use the divers brands of lenses I own in a way that wont restrict my artistic creation. The Sony A6400 tics most of my photographic needs. I once shot only Canon DSLR cameras, but they were heavy, and limited me to Canon glass. The file output was nice if all you wanted was the Canon look. Once I heard Sony mirrorless cameras allowed you to adapt almost any lens to it I was bitten. My first Sony m... Show More

Wait! Before you buy.....read this.
This camera is awesome! Had it a week (over 4,200 images taken already.) Taking pics I don't know were possible. I have had two a77 for about 6 years and this blows them away. Super fast auto focus for the birds Low light is good. Packages each burst of shots so you can view and decide which is the best. Interesting that the focus seems to be always searching as one image would be out of focus, but the nest two or three would be sharp. A good thi... Show More

I cant believe its only $900
Im an in-house graphic designer at a small company, meaning Im also the photo/video guy. My photography skills/knowledge are intermediate level. Ive used a variety of DSLRs in the past from a Canon Rebel T3i to a Nikon D850, this is my first mirrorless. The a6400 is an awesome, versatile, powerful camera for $900! A lot of people have complained about the sensor, lack of IBIS, etc but theyre not comparing apples to apples.Obviously if you compar... Show More

Camera is simply awesome, Capture One support is not
We took our little gem on a recent trip out of the country to use as our walk-around camera and to explore its video capabilities; we put it through its paces in bright light, low light, interiors, exteriors, even a concert hall for a few snaps just to see how it would respond. The only flaw we found was the microphone, which really seem to be underpowered (we used an add-on, camera-powered mic at one point and had slightly better results): it wa... Show More

This camera is Awesome!
I shot on Nikon for years before moving into Sony mirrorless. I currently own an a6000 and an a7ii and am very familiar with them. I was looking for something to shoot video with (specifically YouTube and interview videos) so I liked that this didnt have the 30 minute limit. I had no clue how many advances had been made since the a6000 was released. I try to avoid new camera info because it always leads to me getting excited and buying one. T... Show More

I like this camera very much.
I upgraded from the A6000 (an excallent camera) to the A6400. I have also had in the past two FujiFilm cameras. What I really like about the A6400 is its straight-out-the-camera JPGs. They are a significant improvement over the A6000, and they rival JPGs from Fuji. A lot has been said regarding focusing speed on the A6400. Its all true. The A6400 locks on and tracks moving subjects exceptionally well. To me, a camera is more than just the body. I... Show More

Excellent!
First and foremost, the fact that this camera/lens combo is/was offered from B&H with the accessories kit at no additional cost, is quite awesome! Ive only had this camera for a short amount of time; however, I havent got any complaints (in a general sense, and thus far) regarding its performance, ergonomics, menus (I love the customisable options), build and durability (solid build). Prior to this, I had never owned or used a Sony camera; and, ... Show More

Awesome Focus tracking and Eye AF with adapted glass (Canon)
The camera is awesome with the new Focus tracking. Eye AF enabled with the shutter button half pressed is fantastic and accurate even in low light. I am very surprised that my MC-11 with Canon 70 200 II glass is very accurate and tracks subject like the Sony 100 400 FE GM lens. This is awesome that the adapted lens performance is very very close to native glass. The best part is f2.8 which is even better for this crop sensor which is hungry for ... Show More

Should have never been released
After buying and trying to make this camera work for my needs as a freelance filmmaker I am sad to say Sony dropped the ball with this release. There are some really outstanding qualities, the three I would like to highlight are the Autofocus (best I have ever used), the HLG color profile which is just gorgeous, sharp and with beautiful colors (best I have seen out of Sony), and finally the long awaited flip screen. But, despite these positives I... Show More

Fantatic camera
I have my camera only for few days but it's not my first one in the Sony mirrorless line. I had an NEX6 which is old enough by now. The a6400 came just on time for that I am travelling for business with the weekend in between. It juat gave me a chance to spend sometime taking photos. My first impression is so positive. This is a true major upgrade to what I had. It's light and so easy to carry. The promoted improved AF system is really making th... Show More

compact camera with bright sharp shots even in low light
I love this camera for its low light shots and amazing auto-focus (I use auto-focus almost exclusively). Its also compact - this was important to me for portability and size concerns. And it takes fantastic photos in all settings Ive tried so far. The menus are a little confusing (a common refrain among Sony customers) - for eg it took me a while to figure out how to change the aperture! But the functionality is all there if you can find it. Great BTS cam!
I cant speak on its photo capabilities as I purchased specifically as a BTS camera during my projects. Ill cut to the specific points as to why I think this camera is a step above the a6500. + Color science is better (matches A7 III) + No video recording time limit + No over heating issues (yet), even in non-ideal situations + Autofocus capabilities and quality are outstanding + 1080P footage is improved over the a6500 (was always too soft) N... Amazing First Real Camera!
I used to have an SLR camera back in the day, but I moved away from it and simply used digital cameras to take snapshots of family and certain events. I got the camera bug around Christmas, researching numerous DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. I finally settled on the a6400 because it fit my needs and budget as a beginner, and the results have been outstanding! It's certainly more capable than I am. Sony a6400 is a good camera but this one was damaged
I was very excited to get the Sony a6400, and very disappointed that it arrived loosely packed in it's box and the camera body was shifting around way too much. I think it may have been damaged in the tumble of FedEx's conveyor belts because I got an error message the first time I turned it on and the screen would randomly go through periods of blacking out just a second after I would turn it on. I still managed to take some pictures with it and ... Show More

Good upgrade
Ive been using the 6300 since it was introduced and loved it. The 6400 however is an excellent upgrade and well worth the asking price. The auto focus system is as advertised, quick, accurate and the tracking is excellent. Its hard not to be impressed with the facial and eye AF feature. Im finding the image quality better, but I think its because Im able to get more images in focus than with the 6300. The body is the same as the 6300, but the men... Show More

Travel photography camera for stills
I have tried several comparable cameras and some higher end mirrorless including A7 III, Canon RF, Nikon Z6, and others. I settled for this Sony as the best compromise between weight and quality for landscape and architecture (city) photography. Photo quality is ok as long as you use full manual. The auto functions are deplorable for proper exposure. Autofocus is much improved, again, as long as you select the autofocus point yourself. Navigation... Show More

I love this camera. I have been a loyal Nikon user for 30 years and reluctantly moved over to Sony. I needed something a little more backpacking friendly in terms of size and weight. The A6400 fit the bill. I traded in my D7200 & Nikon lenses and took the plunge. The A6400 with 18-135 and the Sony 10-18 covers just about all my photography needs. Lots of noise and inferior built quality
This is my first Sony camera, I have owned Nikon and Canon cameras for many years (30+) and NEVER had problems, but for my latest camera, I wanted something light and easy to carry, so I decided to try Sony mirrorless. I am very disappointed with this Sony A6400, the noise of any picture taken with ISO 800+ is extreme, and long term exposure noise is very bad even at 100 ISO. Then after only 6 weeks, the popup flash popped out and will not come back in, the camera had to be sent for repair under warranty. I do not understand why so much fuss about these mirrorless Sony cameras.

This Camera Was Made for Me
I was torn about buying this camera (for me it was a real investment). Even though Im a noob to filmmaking, Ive been around cameras and filmmakers most of my life. There were a lot of naysayers about this unit, but I just kept seeing the checkmarks for things I needed in a camera. 4K. Mirrorless. Huge Sensor (not FF), Mic Jack, Log Shooting, Proxy Shooting, Selfie Screen, Battery Life, Overheat Resistant. The list goes on. I did my research, and I knew what was right for me and what didnt matter as much at my level. This camera was made for me.

Great camera with much to offer at a bargain price
I got tired of hauling my DSLR gear to airshows and other flying events I enjoy. So, I switched to a small affordable mirrorless camera to save weight and space. Sonys cutting edge technology combined with B&Hs legendary availability and rapid shipping filled my need. I got my a6400 with the 18-135mm kit lens and am delighted with the package deal. The attached photos were taken at 135mm with the kit lens. Although it took time to master the menu and program the camera, the reward for doing so is well worth it.
