Excellent
Great glass and sf stop range. I use it for macro and portraits. F2.8 does nice job of reducing depth of field with nice bokeh. It auto focuses well on my Sony A7RIII and Sony A7 III with nice bokeh.

Great for the macro capabilities in photo and video!
This lens is awesome both for video and photo!! My husband and I use it for product photography and up close video clips for different perspectives and this lens is so sharp and beautiful! We wanted a prime lens similar to this focal length but also with the macro capabilities and boy you sure can see the crazy details! It is quite a large lens as I love smaller prime lens's, but for what it produces it's worth it! Thanks B&H for the friendly customer service!

Super sharp and super fast focusing
This lens is superb! I am very happy to have made this purchase. Not only is it excellent for portraits, but the macro feature delivers beautiful images. There is nothing I find displeasing about this lens. A superb purchase!!! :-)

Better option than the 100mm
I used to rent the 100mm 2.8 (its actually a 5.6) for shooting jewelry and had too many issues with it. I decided to try the 90mm and it was night and day. Absolutely love this lens its tack sharp. I love the af to mf switch on the focus ring. Also this lens has a much better price than the 100mm.

Good quality but beware of its fragility in guarantee
After 13 months of buying the SEL90M28G Macro lens, when I changed the battery of my camera, it stopped focusing. They told me that it has a scratch and is not covered by the guarantee. Although it has some superficial scrape, the failure must be due to another cause... However, I asked for a budget to solve it. - Two months later I received a big budget. Between the price (close to a new at amazon) and the reason (literally it only has a sc... Show More

First exposure to macro FTW
I thought i would get this lens for my Sony A7R series camera to discover the opportunities of Macro photography and so far I have not been disappointed. I will try to update this review after a road trip through the desert southwest this October. Yes, plenty of landscape opportunities, but I think I am gonna get some really good chances to capture macro at its finest. Hoping for clear air, fantastic lighting, and roaming insects.

Super Sharp
A must have for all Sony A users. Switched over to Sony after 9 year dedicated Canon user. Super Sharp lens.

Amazingly sharp!
This is a lens that I've had my eye on for some time, and while it is pricey, it is worth every single penny. This lens can get absolutely tack sharp and the 1:1 capabilities are just about bar none. Let me make it short, if you are in the market for a macro lens and have been looking at the Sony, buy it.

A very good lense
This is every bit as good as I thought it would be. The photos are as sharp as can be and speed of focus excellent. A great addition to my kit.

Portraits and Macro
I got this lens to use on my A7 ii, first for portraits and then to explore the world of macro. It is excellent for portraits, and eye autofocus works great on the A7 ii. I am still learning how to use it for macro, including experimenting with auto focus using the three lens focus ranges combined with the camera focus areas, handheld in the field. Then there is the whole world of manual focus in the studio with focus stacking. Much to learn.

100% recommended!
I use this lens with my a6400 and get stellar results. I do not have the focusing issues that some reviewers have complained about. It is expensive but totally worth it. Everything I have purchased from B&H Photo has arrived in pristine condition and works perfectly!

Variable T-Stop
Bought this lens for macro/video work. It is amazingly sharp however there is one big issue I didn't know when purchasing. The T-Stop changes when you get nearer to the subject. Even though the aperture is 2.8 the T-stop is I'm guessing somewhat similar when the subject is far away, possible darker than what you'd expect from a normal 2.8. When you get really close to maximum focus you drastically lose light and the lens starts behaving as thou... Show More

its super sharp
its a super sharp lens, im glad I bought it. It auto magnifies and could be kind of a pain if youre not into that, autofocus is a bit slow, I mostly use it on manual. Other than that the lens is great and I like that its light weight too.

Not great for precision flat field phtotogrpahy
This is not the best choice for photographing flat field subjects. At 1:1, it shows some softness in the far corners. Stopping down, at least with the copy I had, didnt help. ... This is a fine lens for fieldwork. The AF works well, and overall rendering is very good.

Insanely Sharp Lens
This lens is so sharp, even DXOmark gave it the highest sharpness rating of all Sony lenses they have evaluated so far. Lenses can not get any sharper than this.

Tack sharp
Perhaps one of Sonys most underrated Lens. This lens should be classified under the G Master lined up if it were not for the absence of weather sealing. I would consider this an easy must have. Fantastic for portraits and general use 90 mm prime in addition to macro. Ive spent many thousands on the G master professional glass lineup and still consider this particular lens to be one of my favorites.

Sony FE 90 f2.8 Macro G lense
Ive had this lenses a coupe weeks and I am very impressed with the sharpness if this lense. I have two Gmaster lenses and the 90 macro is the sharpest with great boken, making it a great portrait lense also. The 1/1 macro is terrific and the autofocus is faster than I expected. Im very pleased with this purchase and as always B & H was great. Delivery arrived when promised.

Great Macro Lens
Quick and quiet autofocus and sharp images enhanced by image stabilization. Lens elements move so there is no barrel movement. Focus limiter feature works well and improves upon autofocus. Pleased with my purchase.

Very sharp
Works great as a macro lens. I would highly recommend it. Be sure to read the instructions. The cameras AF has to be turned to manual when using the lenss AF.

Excellent lens
The lens is great. Extremely sharp, really smooth bokeh. Auto focus is good. Tends to bounce around from time to time but always locks in. The added filter is a nice bonus

Heavy but very sharp
This lens is a bit on the heavy side but has produced the sharpest images of any lens I have had. I usually mount it on a focusing rail and use manual focusing. When used in the auto focus mode, the camera will sometimes loose focus or try to focus on something else in the photo. Although this is a problem with the camera and not the lens. The images are bright sharp and have good contrast. I have not seen another macro lens that you can visually... Show More
