Fast, great pictures, useful zoom range
There's lots of info about this camera out there so I'll just note some additional impressions here -- it's clearly a great camera. Don't forget you'll need a fast U3 SDCXC memory card to go with it. The lens is great -- fast, and coupled with a very fast focus and shot to shot interval. As always on these kinds of camera battery life can be shortish, but B&H offers several aftermarket options for additional batteries and chargers. The controls f... Show More

Impressive, Discreet Camera you'll have with you
I compared the the Lumix LX100 to the Sony Rx100 and the Lumix Gx7. You can google a comparison yourself but the LX100 fit my needs for a small, discreet camera that shoots high quality stills and video, with option of great manual controls. Love the fact that you can access the aperture with a lens ring, shutter speed with a dial, and exposure + / - with another dial; like a traditional film camera. It's a fixed lens but pretty impressive at 24-... Show More

A powerful Point & Shoot
It is a very matured product and produces some good results. Packed with manual controls, it gives you a functional look. It certainly has the potential to become your go-to camera. Most definitely keep a spare battery.

Nice compact camera
I am convinced that the perfect camera does not exist but this Panasonic lx100 is the closest that I can find for an everyday carry around camera. Not too big and heavy but not too tiny for my hands. Great manual controls and nice sensor.

Outstanding professional-level compact
Perfect size for going anywhere. The Leica lens is phenomenal both mechanically and optically, but makes the camera a bit too large to be pocketable. Many controls are accessible via customizable function buttons or dials, including a customizable Quick menu button that gives instant access to 13 settings of your choice. The electronic full-information viewfinder provides easy-to-see 100% views.

Update: Had to go in for repair
I can't seem to access my original review, which I wanted to update... I had a problem with the first LX100, bought Feb 2015, where the battery would drain in a few days even with the camera off. B&H graciously replaced the camera, and it worked fine for about 9 months. Then it started doing the same thing. As I said in my original review, I have no idea how common this is, although it was discussed as a problem for some people back in early 2015... Show More

Love it
If you're an old timer with roots in 35mm SLR photography, the controls on this camera are so very intuitive. I love having the aperture settings on a ring on the lens, and shutter speed up top next to the shutter button. And there's nothing like having a viewfinder for taking photos in daylight. My only gripe is the lack of build-in flash, but I gladly traded that hassle for the having a viewfinder.

One Sweet Little Camera
Once you figure out how to set this little guy up, it becomes a wonderful camera. Low light capabilities are very good as is the glass. I just wish the lens went out to 90mm or 100mm in optical mode like the LX7. I have played with the digital zoom out to 300mm with decent hand held results but that is it...decent to good, not great. A tripod should benefit this. I strongly recommend the LX100 as a great walk-round camera or a second cam for the ... Show More

Sweet little camera
Will use for travel and in place of larger DSLR. The learning curve is a little steep but is doable. Has a ton of features. Battery life a not as long as I like, but a couple of spares fill the bill. Like the electronic viewfinder. Great video performance.

A Photographer's Camera
With its Leica 24-75 equivalent lens, analogue controls and light weight, the LX 100 harkens back to classic 36mm rangefinder cameras, the type many of us cut our photographic teeth on. It is, of course, also as modern as today. The image quality is superb and there are numerous optional effects. In short, this is a superb camera.

awesome camera
i want to take a photo as a hobby, and i found out that b&h provide best promotion($200 gift card) for me. Now I'm really satisfied with it. it has really compact than dslr; it is easy to carry and has bigger sensor than any other competitive models. however it is bit heavy, so you can feel uncomfortable if you hang your camera up your neck for a long time. but is is worth using despite a few things. you will love this product.

Excellent features and quality for such a small camera.
I use the LX100 when I don't want to carry a large, obtrusive ILC. The image quality is very good and the user interface is straightforward.

Great performer for the guerilla filmmaker!
I had been putting off getting aboard the 4K video train since the news of the GH4 broke out. This is the GH4's little cousin. It's got the same engine inside, combined with sweet sweet Leica optics. I decided to go for it and went for the LX100.This is a beaut, for what it cost and its size I am very satisfied. I have shot several projects with it. Admittedly it's no BMPCC - if you want to grade it heavily, it might not have the same push, but i... Show More

Classic, excellent for Reportage
This camera is excellent for Reportages, Low-Light photography, or as a complement to an SLR. I wish it would have a higher resolution at low ISO, and a longer zoom. A delight to use, the commands are great, better than many SLRs!

A bit bulky, but the results are worth it
I looked at the Sony RX-100 line but decided to go with the LX100 based on positive reviews and sensor size relative to megapixels. I normally use a Nikon SLR, but I wanted a PS camera that I could use underwater (with a housing, of course!), but one that can shoot in burst mode, since underwater subjects are often moving. The LX100 has a nice burst mode, and the IQ and ISO bandwith are also nice improvements over my old Canon S90. Haven't taken it underwater yet, but I expect it will suit my needs just find. Just need to find a carry-friendly case for it.

Ideal Travel Camera
For the past 6 months, I've been using the LX100 for all my casual shooting and travel. This LX100 covers everything I do with a DSLR: time lapse, 4k video, panorama, and snapshots under any condition, even long exposure night photography. The LX100 has more advanced technology features than my DSLR system. Features like Focus Peaking, Zebra, interval timer, etc..., and the ability to customize buttons and menus for fast access. The LX100 does ma... Show More

The Little Camera that Does
This is a truly amazing camera. It offers incredible flexibility and is capable of great low-light situations. The controls are both intuitive and creative. The large sensor (for a compact camera) combined with legendary Leica fast lens make for one very capable camera. The build quality is a profound improvement over the DMX-LX7. This little treasure would never completely replace my DSLR, but when I want to travel light and stealthy, this is perfect.

battery drain
When camera works, it is great. First camera drained the battery when off, in about 3 days. B&H replaced it graciously. The replacement worked fine--no battery drain, even after weeks. Now, 9 months later, the problem is back: Battery drains in 3-4 days. Camera has been cared for like a kitten. I will have to go through Panasonic repair, and not looking forward to it. This may be one in a thousand; I just don't know. But I am not happy with Panasonic at this point. My LX5 from many ears ago works perfectly.

Great small camera with lots of manual controls
I love having separate controls for shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation. The controls are so convenient and easy to use they encourage me to think more about the photos I take and and dial in the appropriate settings to maximize the quality of my photos. Using the controls is fun! Image quality is very important and I found it to be quite good. The resolution isn't as good as the Sony RX100 iv, but the pictures look better unless I ... Show More

The countless options and features it has available, combined with the large zoom and compact design for easy portability made it the ideal choice for me. Every camera I have owned over the past 7 years has been a Panasonic Lumix, and I tell all of my friends that it is the brand to buy.

great for people who love dials
I am casual photographer. I like camera and image quality. The only thing missing IMHO is an ability to force scene mode. For example in low light camera can make multiple exposures and combine them in one to reduce noise. But only if auto mode and only if camera decide this is appropriate. No way I can ask camera to do it.
