Great Camera, Fantastic Value!
I've been using the Micro Four Thirds format for over 8 years now, and I purchased this, GX85 knowing what it's limitations were, and knowing what most of its abilities were. I am absolutely satisfied with the GX85. It is such a fun camera to use, and the 5 axis stabilization, and Dual IS, for use with Dual IS lenses, is amazing! The two lense combination, 12-32mm and 45-150mm, make this a kit ready to hit the road, or city. The 12-32mm lens is... Show More

Can't beat it for the price!
So this tiny (but sturdy) mirrorless camera body with 5-axis stabilization that does 4K UHD at 30fps with a 2 OIS lens package that covers most of the 24mm-300mm range is under $600?? WOW No brainer for me. The EVF and auto-focus system are the only gripes, but c'mon people, not enough to take a star away from this awesome kit.

Buy extra batteries!
After shooting a couple of thousand photos, I am more than happy with the results. It can compete head to head with my larger, heavier cameras, with no complaints other than its battery life is short, especially if you are using the more power-hungry features. It does not come with an external battery charger and in-camera charges take up to three hours to complete, so if you shoot lots of frames in a day, invest in a charger and some extra batteries.

Great little camera
I use it as a B-Cam paired with my Lumix GH5 and I love it. In body stabilization is crazy good, it's super small and light. Great image quality in 4K and the screen is amazing. The kit lenses are okay, but what I don't like about the 12-32mm is that there is no focus ring. The 45-150 is a good focal length, but I find myself using the Panasonic 25mm and the 15mm way more on this camera. Overall I love love love it.

Fantastic Compact Camera !!!
I bought this as my compact travel camera and the results for both photos and video have been excellent. It's an absolute bargain at the current price with two kit lenses. For my work I shoot with Panasonic GH5 cameras ( mostly video, but some photography too ), but for general purpose photography and video recording the GX85 produces extremely good results. The 5-axis stabilization is great for both photos and video, and makes a huge differ... Show More

Not for me!
Quite disapointed with this camera package (even at the discount price). First the good: *Takes nice RAW photos (still like my DSLR better). *Image stabilization works very well with stills, OK for video. *Shoots nice 4K video. The bad: *Kit lenses a hassle (too much swapping). I would need to invest close to$1700 for lenses that would eliminate this (14-140 and 8-18). The included 45-150 will not focus closer than 3' (seems eve... Show More

The best camera is the one you have on you!
I love the look, feel and quality of this camera. So easy to throw in a bag or jacket pocket and the kit lens is amazingly sharp and nimble. The one big recommendation I would make is getting an upgraded strap that's long enough to have the camera around your shoulder for that or a hand strap. The included neck strap feels cheap and isn't the right configuration for a camera of this size in my view. Quality, ergonomics and weight are all good. A fantastic street camera as well which is my main use for it.

Quick delivery in Quebec without surprises
Good device. A very good manufacturing quality. Still pretty big and heavy for a compact. BH is really unbeatable in price and delivery time. No problem with UPS delivery in Quebec. No additional charges.

Best Bang for the Buck
After using a LX100 for 3 years, it was time for an upgrade. And the GX85 has the upgrades I was seeking. Interchangeable lens (no more dust spots), touch screen, post focus, higher resolution, and the amazing 5 axis IBIS with Dual IS. I was amazed at what the new Stabilization can do. Normally with a DSLR panning while bursting using the optical stabilization, the subject jerks all over the frame making it impossible to get consistent composed i... Show More

Great camera, great price
am not a professional photographer. I have been simply a photography enthusiast for many years. Recently I made the decision to buy an accessible but mostly small camera, to replace my canon. I am very pleased to have made the leap to 4/3 without a mirror. I bought the GX85 with the additional 45-150 mm and 25 mm. Its body is metallic although for the most part it is lined by a rough material similar to the skin and quite pleasant. The handle is ... Show More

Great Images, Great Value, Some Handling Qualms
I am an experienced SLR shooter and this is my first mirrorless camera. I used this camera extensively on a week of travel. I was hesitant to leave my dSLR at home, but this camera has completely sold me on mirrorless. It proved to be an exceptionally good shooter. For my shooting style, however, I found that the handling leaves much to be desired. The camera itself is extremely compact. The lens is quite sizable "deployed," but it features a ne... Show More

Nice compact camera, pleasant to use, good image quality.
GX85 REVIEW I have been using this in Mexico for 3 weeks as a travel camera and have a good idea how well it works. I compare it to my Panasonic FZ 1000 mega zoom, a much bigger camera that I have used for 2 years. Picture and Video ( 1080 p ) quality both cameras are very good. GX 85 seems to have slightly better dynamic range, but is not as good on low light video due to the slower kit lens, which of course has a very low zoom range. Seems go... Show More

In-Body-Image-Stabilizer (IBIS) works very very well !
The IBIS works very-very well ! The Kit lens has Very Good Quality. No distorsion that I can see at wide angle (12mm = 24mm in 35 equivalent). I wish the hand-grip is bigger, due to the heavier weight than normal for its size. Because of its small hand-grip, I subtract one star for "clumsy handling", forcing me to tie the camera to some bracket (see pictures)

Good things come in small package
I am impressed by the features packed in such a compact body especially the 5 axis image stabilization that works really well in the videos. The image quality is really good. My Nikon D5600 DSLR might have slightly better image quality but the portability and features makes me want to use this more. The only downside is that the battery life could have been better and they should have provided a separate charger. I am not a fan of in-camera battery charging. But you can find a generic one on ebay for less than 10$ so not really a big issue.

Big Improvements overall
I own a GX-7 and still enjoy shooting with it. Since then I have bought the 12-35mm and 35-100mm f2.8 lenses. The GX-85 adds several performance improvements over previous bodies. The new electromagnetic shutter is much smoother and quieter, the 5 axis image stabilization combined with the image stabilizer in each lens gives you incredible flexibility before resorting to a tripod. Shooting with the 35-100 at full zoom (200mm equivalent and gettin... Show More

Solid
Before buying please try. I loaded the battery, turned the camera on then looked through the EVF. The 'tearing effect' reported in reviews was very apparent for me, making the camera not workable for me. The colors of the EVF are also cartoonish bright. I have a pana GM5 to compare it too (whose EVF is small, but seems to be a different technology). Panasonic make great cameras. But haptics matter too and even one thing (in my case the EVF) can ... Doesn't fit my needs.
A nice lightweight and compact camera with great potential, but to not have capability to plug in a a mechanical or electronic cable release ruins everything for me. I would not buy this camera again.

GX85 excellent digital camera
Panasonic created a wonderful camera. It is small in size. But it is convenient to hold with one hand. The camera has a natural color rendition and a large dynamic range.

I needed a lighter camera than my Nikon D3 yet wanted multi-functions. This comes through in glowing terms.
