GH4 is a video workhorse! Getting it done is what counts.
I've been using this GH4 for a few years and my workflow is predominately 1080P, even when I shoot 4k. On paper this seemingly old and unexciting camera may appear to be lacking, but nothing can be further from the truth. I've had others complain about their overheating Sony cameras and complain about their Canon's...and then of course the monetary investment in those systems is substantial. Certainly on paper they talk a big game, but when you n... Show More

better than a gh-5 in my view
this is my third gh-4, I use all three for multi-cam interviews. I used to use a gh-5 but it was too confusing and the 6k was not great for my needs. So now I shoot 1080p get great uniform results across the cameras and can pinpoint my spending to invest in lenses and other peripherals. Great value on a camera body that offers access to the Lumix and Leica lenses

Still Very Relevant in 2019
There's not much to write that hasn't already been written about the capabilities and quality of this offering from Panasonic. If you're wondering if the camera is still a contender in 2019, trust me--it is! I shoot a Panasonic UX180 and UX90. I bought this because the capabilities are similar to the UX90, which I use for B-roll. You get a large sensor and the same Panasonic color science. This is a perfect complement to the 90/180 for times when you want to throw on a shallow lens and get a shallow depth of field.

Outstanding!
Performed better than expected. Spent 12 days in Europe filming and photographing to produce a documentary. Needed a easy to operate fully functional portable camera and equipment. Thank you B & H and Panasonic!

No bandwagon effect for me!
In my country, the general belief is that Canon DSLRs cameras are next to none. Unfortunately i am not the typical person who follows the crowd. I went online, did my research and concluded that Panasonic GH4 was the best for me despite the fact that I had never seen it being used before. The risk was well worth it. As they say, the rest is history. I have not regretted the decision! I have stuck with the Panasonic style and I'm amazed at the new gears coming out lately. For now, I'll remain here for a long time to come.

High quality, reasonable price
What a great value. The image quality still holds up, and its not storage intensive. A very versatile little DSLR that does the business without breaking your bank account.

Great tool for video shooters!
Purchased only for video use. Great value for the features it has. Have owned the GH2 and GH3 in the past, hence its a continuation of Panasonics solid design and engineering.

Pleasantly surprised.
I was a little hesitant in getting a 5 year old camera, and one with reported auto focus issues. I needed something good for video and ok for photography without breaking the bank, and I was not disappointed. The auto focus works pretty good, even in poor lighting conditions when paired up with Panasonic glass, I mostly use the 35mm-100mm f2.8 and a 25mm f1.7....no issues. It came with the latest firmware update from factory so I didnt have to bother with updates. Apparently that did the trick.

Been Using for 4 years
I've been using the Panasonic GH4 for about 4 years now and it is my go-to camera! I love this camera. It shoots great footage, is super lightweight and easy to transport. Has a nice range for VFR, although I do prefer the GH5 for shooting slo-mo. This camera has roughed it out with me on many shoots for my university, corporate work, and weddings. Has a lot of great menu options and is really use to maneuver once you get the hang of it. Just bought two to use as my shooting cameras at church.

Still a beast in 2018...
It's my 2nd GH4... Reasons not to upgrade GH5: 1. Image quality does not improve that much on GH5... I did a comparison between GH4, GH5 and GH5s. GH5 and GH5s are slightly better... Unless you use 400mbps mode... 2. I don't use a lot slow mo, but if you like, buy GH5 or s 3. Way much cheaper than GH5 - $999 VS $1999 4. Got free Panasonic 3 Year Warranty 5. GH5 & GH5s still not have "built-in" ND filter. Not worth for the upgrade... This is just my opinion. I may buy GH5 or 5S in future but so far they are not so attractive to me.

Superb video, great photos, ergonomics; careful in low-light
I bought my GH4 in 2015 and have used it in all types of weather in several different countries. I love this camera and use it as a hobby/ enthusiast as well as for work. Great photos. Simply marvelous videos. Excellent slow-mo. Handheld with NO IBIS at 60p has given usable results (especially when you're getting the story!). Cinema 4k is excellent. Cine-D log for grading later has been a bonus. Too bad we can't upload videos because that's whe... Show More

Lovely Video Production
I won't go into full detail about my GH4 experiences, since it is well reviewed and has been out for a while. I use this exclusively for video production and couldn't be happier. It's an inexpensive workhorse with great video quality. I've put this into service on everything from run and guns to interviews to full on studio productions and it doesn't disappoint. If you're simply into gear this little guy is no longer the top of the line in 2018.... Show More

Still the best 4k deal out there
This is my second GH4 to use as a second camera. Remarkable camera never disappoints. At this price and with the vast selection of lenses available, there's no reason to look elsewhere.

Pretty good camera with lots of functionality
I purchased this camera because it's slightly lighter than my DSLR cameras. I'm getting older and when I'm out bushwacking, I can't quite deal with the weight of the DSLR bodies and ALL that GLASS! This was a bit pricey, but the resulting images are way better than using a bridge camera, which is light for the backpack, but limited on the image quality it delivers. I 've had this camera for a few months now, and the quality of the images and the ... Show More

Incredible camera. Small problem w/ Rode Mic
I wont write a lot about this camera, its amazing and there is a lot of tutorials and stuff online so its not really necesary to speak a lot. One thing: if you get the Metabones adapter, I would really recommend to buy another one without any lens, like the GOBE adapter. That way you can have 2 differents options for the lens to behave by just changing the adaptor.

Great Camera!!!
This my third GH4. I primarily shoot classical music concerts and operas/musicals with locked off cameras, so having a camera that stops recording at 29 mins 59 seconds, is not an option for me. Lighting is not normally an issue, so f/4.0 at 640 ISO covers most of my theater shooting needs. For the money, there is not a better camera on the market. I have paired my cameras with the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8; Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8, and the Olympu... Show More

Excellent Camera
Bought the GH-4 even though the GH-5 is out to have a third to match my other two GH-4s. I've always gotten good results with these cameras as I travel the world as a part of my TV job. The fact they are small, compact and weather sealed is a huge bonus.

Like it a lot but not as big an upgrade from the GH3 as I expected, unless you need 4k.

Fantastic Camera, mostly
I'm only giving 4 stars because I'm 57 and my eyes are not what they once were, and it seems camera manufacturers don't care about older shooters. I use the two I purchased mainly as video cameras. We are starting to do more and more with 4K, and the focus assist on these suck. Focus assist is not accurate. Also, AF on non-Lumix lenses doesn't work. Why? On the Blackmagic cameras I just sold off, I could put any lens on it an AF worked great. Tha... Show More

Great bang for the buck. Great camera!!
I've been using this camera mostly for HD music video shoots. Recently I have been outputting 4K 10 bit 422 to a Atomos Shogun as a B camera along with a Canon C300 MKII. While the Cine V log footage is a different flavor from the Canon Log the ability to grade these two shots is a big plus. A great investment. I have earned my investment back several times with this little workhorse.

Love It
After filming some friends I left this camera outside on a tripod. Yep, 4 hours later it was pouring rain and an hour after that is when I realized. It literally could not rain have been raining harder and this camera and 35-100 2.8 sat out there completely exposed for almost an hour. Damage? None. If anything the camera and lens are cleaner. 100% true. Now I'm half tempted to take it underwater.

GH-reat Camera
Love this camera. Battery life is crazy, haven't got a second battery. the footage looks good unless you shoot in low light or if you have a dark spot in your shot artifacts might show up but other than that great quality for the price. light your shot.
