One of the best portrait lenses for M4/3

Jan 24, 2013

I will try and keep this short and neat as almost all other reviews about this lens speak the same great things about it. For the price, you can't get a better portrait lens for the M4/3 system. At a 90mm 35mm equivalent with fast aperture of f1.8, this lens delivers stunning sharp images with equally stunning creamy blurred background and bokeh effect when needed. The AF is accurate and fast with this lens as well. Sure, it would have been nice ... Show More

Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.8 Lens by Olym

Jan 16, 2013

Recently I bought an Olympus OMD-5 camera, and I love it. I bought the 45mm f1.8 prime lens by Olympus as a primary walk around lens. It's a great lens, clarity and excellent color, especially at f2.8 through f8. I've done a lot of research on four-thirds lenses, and the 45mm, 75mm, and 12mm are the best.

Great Little Lens

Jan 16, 2013

I rate this four instead of 5 stars because I think 5 stars should be reserved for top image quality and top construction - meaning metal and weather sealing. Other than that, this lens has it all, sharp, fast accurate focus, great bokeh, fast and light. As good overall in that regard as my best Canon L lenses.

This lens is small and it is fast! The build quality is great. It feels very solid. It's a great portrait lens and a short tele lens. Imagine quality is sharp, very sharp. AF is very fast and low light performance is excellent. Not to mention DOF is creamy smooth! A must have for micro 4/3 owner.

Clear, Fast, Fast AF

Nov 7, 2012

I use this product for street photography. With an effective 90mm length, it allows me to frame MCUs without having to get too close to the subject. Wide open, the lens is still clear and sharp, which is great for low light. I just wish it were available in black and had a weather sealed version so I could safely use it in the rain with my OMD EM5

Fantastic lens for 3/4

Oct 25, 2012

I use it mainly for portraits and I like its good sharpness and nice bokeh with wide apertures. Maybe there are other lenses which are better for portrait pourposes (I mean Zuiko 75mm) but they are also much more expensive. Anyway I have to say that once I'm back in my country (Spain) I have found it cheaper (I mean in a real shop, not in internet) than in your shop.

Great short telephoto!

Oct 17, 2012

I love how this lens looks and feels on a silver OM-D! The construction and finish are top notch, and the image quality is as well! Having a 90mm equivalent F1.8 provides great DOF control and low light capability. I am very happy I got this lens along with the Panasonic 14mm and 25mm... couldn't ask for a better trio of lenses (OK, the Oly 12mm... alot of $$$ for that one!). Get this lens, you won't regret it!

Wonderful Image Quality! This lens is an incredible value. Contrast, Clarity and minimal CA compares to my Canon L Lenses. The IQ is superior to my Canon 50mm 1.4 (5d Mk II) especially in low light situations.

Brilliant Prime for CSCs

Aug 30, 2012

This lens focuses fast on my OMD and takes sharp photos. I enjoy the focal length, especially outside, but indoor portraits can get a bit cramped. (Remember that it's like a 90mm on a full frame DSLR.) Build quality is excellent. The 1.8 speed allows for some great low light opportunities, shallow depth of field images, and even sports photography if you can get close enough to the action. The ability to control depth of field and create sharp ar... Show More

Great lens. Undersold by Olympus

Aug 24, 2012

I wrote a long review about the image quality of this lens (which ids excellent) but there was an internet glitch and the web page ate it, to my disgust! Others have written about that anyway so I will say: Great and much needed portrait lens for the M4/3 system. It is inexpensive, small, light and has outstanding overall image quality. The reasons it drops a star for me are that, firstly it should have matched the build quality of the 12mm f/2 a... Show More
