The computer I've needed for 20 years.
I'm a professional photographer with over 20 years of full time experience. During that time, I've used macs and have always wanted a faster computer. But, I could not justify spending more on a computer with a 3 to 4 year life. My last iMac did last 7 years which is very good. With a SSD, I expect this iMac to last at least that long. So, I purchased the fastest version of the non-pro iMac offered, complete with the best graphics card offered ... Show More

This computer is amazing. Great purchase.
I have been pondering this purchase for a very long time. I am a freelance director/editor/content creator and have been editing on Premiere Pro on an old MacBook for way too long. After many months of considering all options for a new desktop editing system -- including switching to a PC, the Mac mini, a MacBook Pro with the LG Mac Monitor, and so on -- I finally decided to call B&H and talk about this 27 iMac because I felt it was the best cost... Upgrade Was a Snap
I was hesitant to upgrade my 2012 iMac, because I dreaded having to reload software and restore backups, and the inevitable compatibility issues that would surely result. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the migration tool handled the transfer of applications and data with only minor exceptions. No software to load, no drivers to download - practically everything worked as it had with my old computer, only much faster. Instead o... Show More

Video Editing Beast!
Im going from a 4-core i7, 1TB HDD, 16gb ram, and an old Nvidia graphics card to this sexy beast, my first ever apple computer. Having used windows all my life it is taking some adjusting but I cant explain how happy I am to be able to play back 4k footage in Premiere Pro with out having to pre-render the clip. Not to mention the learning curve from windows to apple is not nearly as tough as I expected. Ive had it for less than 24 hours and alrea... Show More

Once you go Mac, you'll never go back.
I was looking to upgraded my 6yr old 21.5 iMac, I looked at PC based laptops, PC desktops, and MacBook Pros. One thing that made me go to the 27iMac was the fact that you can upgrade the ram. The 27 iMac has a ram access door making upgrading very quick and easy. The iMac from B&H was speced with the 6 core i5 processor, 8Gb graphics card and a 500Gb SSD and 8Gb ram. Like I said, the ram is very easy to upgrade and I purchased two 32Gb ram sticks... Show More

Great Computer but...
After contemplating out of 4 electronic stores which store to buy my new iMac from, I went with my past great experiences Ive had with B&H. Transaction of my payment was smooth as well as my pick up. Working in various Adobe programs that I installed, Just eleven days from my purchase date, my computer screen went black. I could not get it back on. Since I bought AppleCare I called Apple. 1 hour on the phone with them and not one person I spoke t... Show More

Best price and on time!
I did a ton of research before finally ordering my new iMac here on B&H. Im not new to Apple products, but this was my first time ordering a large computer online versus in store. First, B&H had the best prices out of everywhere - and I mean EVERYWHERE. Second, ordering and customizing online was a breeze. I was able to make the product adjustments I wanted and still came out about $150 cheaper than the competition. Third, the computer was packag... Show More

Great Almost an iMac Pro but not quite
So far I love it in general - fast, great screen, very fast SSD, good GPU performance. It actually benchmarks faster than a base iMac Pro in many cases. BUT...it has two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports on one controller, which can be limiting (the 2018 Mac Mini has 4 ports on two controllers). The SSD in the Mac Mini is substantially faster. 10Gigabit Ethernet is not an option (is on the Mac Mini). Many of the features seem constrained to not step on t... Show More

My First Mac
I've only had this IMac for two weeks. Quite a learning curve as I have only worked with a Dell and Windows all my Computer life. However I am in love with the 5K display and the upgrade in speed and performance of this All-In-One computer. I had the techs at B&H change out the 8 GB memory for a Total of 64 GB. Glad I did, well worth the money. Also impressed with the Magic Mouse and Keyboard. I got the I9 processor so I should be Future Proof fo... Show More

A Wonderful Upgrade
I have been using a 21.5 iMac for ten years. Since it still worked, I had a tough time replacing it. I am glad I did! My new iMac is blazing fast. The time spent processing each picture has been reduced dramatically. Great, beautiful screen. It really presents my images in the best possible way. The time machine data transfer was magic but I still had to figure a lot of things out to get my photo software apps afloat. Had to buy a couple of upd... Show More

Wow, what a difference 11 years makes!
I purchased this computer as an upgrade to my 11 year old 2008 Mac Pro. Even though the 8 core Mac Pro was still functioning well, the slow speed and inability to upgrade the OS past El Capitan prompted me to upgrade. I purchased aftermarket RAM to increase the total memory to 40GB. The speed increase is so substantial - just as expected. The SSD is blazingly fast. A significant benefit which I didn't foresee is the reduced heat from the computer... Show More

Buy It For Whatever You Need. Add RAM
You can't go wrong. This computer will handle everything, from photo to video editing. The iMac is the cornerstone of Apple's desktop computing line up. You could spend less money on the smaller screen version (21inch) or the fusion drive hard drive, but the faster solid state HD and bigger 27 inch display are worth it once you experience it. My only recommendation is that you increase the RAM. Add 32 MG of ram for a total of 40MB and you will no... Show More

Looks just like my 2012 27 iMac, but runs a lot faster.
The Mac arrived quickly from B&H exactly as ordered. I installed the 3rd party RAM (really easy) and the iMac booted right up and ran perfectly. After recreating my system (see below) the big test was using iMovie and Final Cut Pro to create and export video clips. This computer is really a lot faster than my top of the line 2012 iMac. The 5K screen is gorgeous. The Thunderbolt ports support USB3-C. I restored the computer from my current Time ... Show More

It is everything I hoped for
I have been a Mac book pro user for almost 20 years and I still love they convenience but increasingly I was taking my iPad with me on the road so my 2012 laptop was becoming a destroyed machine - and not a very handy one. I added a stand-alone monitor to help with my photography work and I added several external hard drives to store my growing photo files and a separate keyboard and mouse to make it easier to edit. And my laptop suddenly was jus... Show More

Magnificent
This is exactly what Ive needed for years. My MacBook was literally falling apart after a decade of heavy use. In returning to photography, something powerful was needed. So far, it has lived up to all expectations. Maybe I sound like a fanboy, but this is a device you want and will not regret. Obviously this is also the place to buy it regardless of where you are, especially in light of free shipping that is often expedited and the possibility... Show More

Definitely an upgrade from 2015
Purchased this and added 32 GB of memory. This unit has the 1TB internal SSD; a huge improvement from the slow 3Tb Fusion in the older iMac. Also with the Tb3 I was able to add an external expansion box and an nvme SSD. The combination is much faster in processing photos and video. Definitely a good thing. Catalina has caused some issues but it is getting better. Also it would be nice if Apple could allow us to lock in the screen brightness. You ... Show More

It should just work
For a a few thousand dollars, I was hoping this upgrade from my previous 2013 iMac would be a big improvement. Instead, it got stuck on the loading screen after turning it on for the first time and required much troubleshooting and eventually an operating system reinstall to get it working. Yes, it is faster, yes, it has a has a 5k monitor. But compared to my old computer, it looks exactly the same except for the addition of the poorly placed cha... Show More

Not As Powerful As Expected
I bought this new iMac as a video editing workhorse, packed with the SSD, Vega 48 and I upgraded the RAM to 72GB on my own via the easily accessible RAM door, so I was expected lightning speed. Unfortunately, the speed when editing video in Premiere Pro seems to be just slightly better than my 2015 15 MacBook Pro. Opening a big project still takes forever to load, video clip previews still load slow in the library window, and rendering and export... Show More

Good Computer
I moved up from a late 2012 iMac to this early 2019 iMac and I have to say not to much difference. The screen has higher resolution but it's hard to see the difference The USB ports are somewhat faster then the old machine. The SSD is far faster than the Fusion drive in the old mach. The Thunderbolt 3 ports are a problem because most of the hardware for them has compatibly problems making them almost useless at this time. My advice if you have a usable computer now don't bother to upgrade. As for B&H They are the place to buy any electronics super service fast delivery. they are the best.

I was looking for a machine...
That was much faster than my 2016 MBP and the 2012 MP when it comes to chewing through 4k F-Log H.265 10-bit files and doing all the things modern motion processing, editing, rendering and exporting requires. I found that machine. The i9 8-core is faster than I expected. Incredibly happy I made the jump. Not to mention it seems to run Capture 1 and Fujifilm RAW files from X-T3's, T2's, GFX50s's and GFX100's exceptionally well. Export times are speedy! Speakers sound pretty good, too, and fill the room with rich sound. You won't be disappointed with this machine at all! I know I'm not.

Very Happy So Far
I previously had and still have a windows 7 machine which will be 9 years old in Jan 20. I've had few problems with this PC. This happens to be the same period that windows 7 reaches its end of life date. So I had to make a change, either to windows 10 or to a iMac. There is a learning curve with both operating systems. Since both my wife and I have iPhones and iPads we decided to make the leap to a iMac. I went with the 1TB ssd drive instead of the fusion drive. Our needs for a computer aren't sophisticated and it's overkill and overpriced but what the heck. So far so good.

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKHORSE
I bought this iMac 27 5K Display with the 9th generation I9 CPU and 8 gigabytes of RAM with a terabyte SSD drive. I immediately added 32 gigabytes of RAM for a total of 40 Gigabytes of RAM. I use this with several camera. My photos are usually huge in the RAW when imported and swell as I work on them in Photoshop. My prior photo computer was a Mac Pro. This one seems like it will serve me well for many years. The display is wonderful, and as outfitted the computer speeds through my work. Get what you will want in the IMac before you buy it as it has little ability to expand.

4x faster in music apps
Computer came quick and well packed. Computer runs super fast no issues right now on Mojave. I upgraded from late 2015 iMac. My old iMac stress test to this one outperformed it by being able to handle just about 4x the multi core processing during music production applications involving a lot of real time calculations and interpolations. Thing is a beast and got a great Christmas deal so i was psyched. if you are upgrading from a older i7 quad core you will notice a good jump in performance, the ssd from my old fusion is also noticeably faster. Very happy with the purchase.

Great iMac! Great Sales/Service by B&H!
This 2019 iMac-27 has turned out to be everything I hoped for, and more. I have NO complaints about it. I used the Migration Assistant to move all of my apps and data from my old 2015 iMac running Sierra, and it worked fine. But it was definitely worth the wait on upgrading to macOS Mojave. Of course, B&H made it very easy, and saved me $250+ in taxes. Item shipped and received as expected (3 days) and in excellent condition. Availability of this specific iMac configuration is very limited, so I did have to wait about a week, but it was well worth it.
