Excellent cans!
The MDR V6s with the Velour mod cannot be beat at the price point of sub 100. Simply amazing sound, comfort and construction. I love that they fold up so easy so that you can fit them easily in smaller spaces, and how long the cable coils out to. The velour pad mod allows for much better comfort after hours of use. Excellent bass when it comes to sound quality.

Great But Not Exceptional
I've had these headphones for around a month now and they have been great to me. At first I was underwhelmed at the sound quality but it took about 4-5 days for them to really start to sound how I expected them to sound. I mainly use them for listening to music, producing and mixing (although I'm no pro). For general music listening these are fantastic. Great clear highs, distinguishable mids, and the perfect lows. Some people say there isn't tha... Show More

MDR-V6 = Heaven on your head
I have owned my MDR-V6 headphones for 20 years now and have never heard anything better! Deep, rich bass with crisp clean highs and everything in between. I listen to quite a range of music and these work for everything.Since purchasing them I've only had to replace the ear-pads twice. Some feel this is a negative, but considering the superb sound quality, I will gladly buy new pads when needed. I really felt relieved that just last week I needed... Show More

Great Headphone!
I was a big fan of the 7509's but then Sony decided to improve them and released the 7509HD that sound thin and aren't as comfortable. The V6, while not as smooth as the original 7509's are very decent headphones. The bottom end is big but not boomy and the top is nice and airy without sounding harsh. They are very comfortable. The circumaural ear pads provide excellent isolation. I use them for tracking, editing and as monitors for my portable rig. Over all a great headphone for a fraction of the price of the 7509's.

Great classics here
I use these headphones at my computer for all my needs at home and at work. These headphones are solid and have a rich sound that are hard to get at this price. What I mean by classics is that they have been around for along time. These V6's are pretty under the radar and low priced but don't let that fool you. The are very comfortable too. Totally worth it. I have a pair of Bose around ear headphones and they are good too, but two times the price, and they don't have the comfy feel of the V-6's.

Still one of the best
One of the best closed headphones in the price range. Although open headphones obviously have better sound quality, I usually use these in more quiet places, and they do extremely well.

Great set of headphones!
I remember, as a DJ, that 10-15 years ago Sony 7506's were hard to find and sought after. These v6's have the same durable build as the 7506's and sound great and are plenty comfy. They are the consumer version of the pro 7506, but I find no compromises. I'm using them at work and love them. I have a pair of V600's as my current DJ phones, and these outshine them by far- wish I had the $ to justify another pair of these V6's to replace them! (And I'm actually keeping the V6's at work because I spend more time in them there and they are more comfortable). Highly recommended.

Time proven headphones
Use the product to listen to musical recordings. Bought my first pair in the mid 80s. Have owned many other headphones since. Always come back to this model. Very comfortable.

Best deep and full bass! Sooo worth it!
As an audiophile, I deeply enjoy all of the subtle things about music many people look past. The frequency response has to be low for good bass however the mids have to be clear and the treble has to be well defined. The MDR-V6s have it all, perfectly balanced and rich sound. On top of that B&H has the best price on the web!

Still Around - and should be!
This headphone came out in the 80's I believe, and it's still considered people's favourite headphones (upon researching reviews).... I can't be happier. They are comfortable, the price is decent too, and being closed headphones they drain out useless noise. I'm no audiophile expert but I have high expectations for headphones and I'm more than happy. The plug is well built, plus the collapsable feature is definitely a bonus for transporting. It p... Show More

Excellent Headphones!
I use these headphones for both gaming and music on my PC. These headphones sound amazing when compared to my Sennheiser HD212pro headphones. Sound quality is on par with the Sennheiser HD280, but these headphones are smaller and more comfortable. I highly advise the Beyerdynamics Velour Pads to be added to these. The pleather made my ears slightly sweaty, where the velour gives plenty of room for breathing and even adds to the depth of sound. Can sometimes be a bit tight feeling after wearing for a long time.

Good Cans
This is the perfect product for my needs. It isolates very well in my office environment, keeping the office drone out and keeping my music in so as not to disturb my co-workers.

Great sound
Fantastic sound for the price. Unfortunately I had a little rattling in the left cup when the music hit a range of bass, but not a deal-breaker. Great for music (what they're built for), soundstage is not so great for gaming - I could hear more, but I couldn't really hear where. Comfort is what really bothered me out of box... could only wear them for 20 min at a time. They're a little more worn-in now though so not too bad. Definitely thinking about getting the Beyerdynamic pads though.

Great sound but not comfortable :(
Sony, as always, delivers a quality product. Great sound, flexible 10' cable, nice folding design. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable to wear it for a long time but maybe its just me.

Excellent sound isolation
I use these headphones in the field to ensure that I am capturing good quality audio on my Canon Vixia HV30 videocamera. This has saved my bacon on more than one occasion--alerting me, for example, that my shotgun mic was not on (the mic lacks a power on light, and the switch is extremely tiny). Because connecting this mic disables the on-board mic, I would have ended up with no audio on the tape--but for the MDR-V6. The circumaural design blocks... Show More

Great sound!
These headphones are wonderful and offer crisp clear sound. They are just as good as any noise cancelling headphones, since they fit around the ear and drown out outside noise during use. The only draw-back, is that they are a little heavy on the ears.

90% Delighted With These Headphones
The 90% I'm delighted with are: The fantastic sound quality, comfortable luxurious feel, weight (not too heavy), fit (snug but not tight), and the well designed plug. Let me explain further - I traveled to every retail store in the city that had headphones I could try on before I made my selection; and read all the reviews on @and bought these. The sound quality equaled the quality of Bose for about 30% less money. They are very comfortable and c... Show More

Comfy and lightweight
I use these for studio headphones and they sound fine, are comfortable, and replacement ear cups are available. But for a few bucks more you can get the MDRV 700DJ which are the cadillacs.

Looking for low dollar and high-quality?
I can hear every tiny nuance of my music with these. The frequency response is out of this world and the bass is extremely tight, even with a bass boost on my PC's EQ. I often find myself going through my playlist and listening to my music just to enjoy how perfect these sound. Cymbals sound like cymbals and aren't tinny at all -- vocals sound like you're standing in front of the person listening to them -- bass sounds deep and solid. I challenge... Show More

Excellent Stereo Headphones
I bought these headphones to replace my uncomfortable Sony MDR-V150's. These headphones are used for late night listening or when my wife doesn't want me playing my home stereo. They sound great and are easy to listen to for long periods of time without discomfort. I have had open back Sennheisser's in the past but I much prefer a closed back design. It was either the Sony MDR-V6 or Sennheisser HD-280. Because of my past experience with both brands I chose the Sony's. Very satisfied with my decision. Great for late night trance music listening.

Makes a big difference!
When our band started recording we had a few cheap pairs of headphones and they were almost useless for any kind of reference. I finally convinced them to pick these up and it's made a huge difference in our recording process and quality.

I read many reviews for many headphones, and these seemed to have the best reputation and a great price point. Wide range, nice lows, and good response.. you will be happy with these headphones!Only complaint is the ear pieces wear out over times.. everyone recommends the Beyerdynamic Velour Padded Earcushions from B&H@

Great Headphones for the price.
The Headphones are great. I used it on the plane and could hardly hear the engine noise without turning on my headphones. The sound was crystal clear with my computer and iPod. I would buy this product to give as gifts if I had to.

Excellent value
We have three of these units which we use for monitoring recordings and editing. They do adequately close out outside sound, and have a good and clear sound quality. Good little feature is that it comes with a 1/4 to 1/8 plug adaptor.
