Best value
I'll start off saying I'm not a professional. I'm more of a hobbyist. I had been using the HCX-1000 by Panasonic, but it had a lot of trouble in the low light scenarios that I used it, so I started looking around. Enter the FS7. This camera is unbelievable. I did days and days of research before committing on this purchase. I could not be happier. I record in 4K using XVAC-I, and the image quality is superb. I purchased a Rokinon 1.4 lens for eve... Gorgeous camera, so happy with purchase
We use these cameras to shoot music festivals and narrative content... boy do they hold up. We use a set of Rokinon Cine DS primes as well and are more than happy with the results.

very nice lens,
not much of a zoom lens range wise but the optics are wonderful quality. Does passable slow zooms. Hopefully Sony will sell a doubler & and wide angle converter for it.

Great addition to my gear
We were working with two sony a7s II cameras and upgraded one of them to the FS7. It cuts together great and gives us the extra functionality we were looking for. Highly recommended.

I know it is heavy complicated lens but it is true magic !!
My secretweapon is this lens - Several high endvideo producers has all said my work is of Cinematicquality. I have Sony A7rm11 and this Lens ... It is used most days in very trying conditions and it has not missed a beat or a shot..the Zoom is so amazing, the image quality with the right camera settings for the locations is even more amazing..It takes time to learn this lens and to feel it ..so try it out ..

Easy to operate but why not a wider angle ?
The built quality is good. The image stabiliser functions perfectly . The zoom ring is tempered but precise once you get accustomed to it. The electronic servo zoom may surprise if you are accustomed to manual or ENG zooms. You can switch quickly from manual to autofocus on the ring without to have to send your hand elsewhere. Your hand can remain operational on the lens. I am very surprised by one reviewvers who says that the zoom cannnot be serviced or dismounted by the Sony aftersale service. I have called Sony and talk to an technician. It appears that this information is not correct.

My Least Used Lens
It's somewhat ironic that my most expensive lens (this one) is actually the one I use the least. Why? 1. It's large and heavy, so inconvenient to lug around 2. 28mm is not wide enough on short end, and in the middle ranges, I think some of my other lenses look better. 3. There just haven't been many situations (yet) where I needing anything over, say 70mm. It's not a terrible lens. I do like lenses with autofocus, so that you can push to focus to get a nice, quick, accurate focus. I just think that in hindsight I probably would have used the money for something else, knowing what I know now.

i am very excited about this camera
I got this to film surf from both land and water. I like the 1080p high frame rate and the 4k

Great camera!
Sony got it right on this camera. It takes some getting used to due to Sonys vast menus. But over all this camera is a great camera. It looks amazing and is quite affordable. You should get the extension unit and of course you will need a lens adaptor but over all I love this camera.

FE PZ 28-135// f/4 G OSS lens on the field
I'm using this amazing Sony lens for a few weeks and I'm very impressed with the quality of the glasses and exterior finishing. The functionality is great, smooth and quiet zoom is perfect. This is now my standard lens for my 4K videos, and now I'm ordering from B&H a polarizer lens to make even better blue skies. I recommend guys. Best regards

great for video/4K ok for stills
i love this lens on cameras like the FS7 although it is a little tight on the wide end, coverage is a dream on FF but for stills on high resolving (A7rII) bodies it is a little lacking....i would still prefer it to the 24-70 f4 which looks digital to me...the new 24-70 2.8 GM is a much better solution for stills.... for video work i love the size, handling, reach....everything....

Great Zoom Lens
Great zoom lens pared with my Sony A7S II. I couldn't be happier with the image quality, stabilization and lens functionality. There is a light/bright vignette at 28-35mm.

Great camera but very heavy, I switched to a PXW-FS5
Very heavy. Difficult to stay mobile with it. The FS5 is amazing. Weights 5 pounds less and has the same sensor. I love the FS5 and everyone should try both before buying one. I suggest using an external recorder to handle large file sizes and have ProRes HQ file production.

Not Mr. Right, but Mr Right Now
We've been using the EX3 for many years with the stock wide lens, and FS100's with the 2 two common e-mount lenses available for it (the 3 speed servo lens and the manual stock lens). Like most FS100 users, we were unhappy with those lenses, and were looking for something like the EX3 lens. Well, this is probably as close as Sony is going to get to it for the near future, so if you have an FS100 or 700 and are sick of those other e-mount lenses, ... Show More

Simply Incredible
So there I was, about five seconds away from pre ordering the Ursa Mini 4.6k and something inside me told me to hold off. I saved a little more money and purchased the Sony FS7 instead. Best decision I've ever made. This camera is absolutely incredible. Cine EI finally gives me the proper non-yellow skin tones I've been waiting for from a Sony camera. 10-Bit color, 60 fps in 4k, 180 fps in HD, and built in LUTS. What more could I want with a came... Great Lens
I love this lens. I have just a complaint about the lens hood, which is a bit hard to find the right position to put it on and it got stuck once. Also the lens hood cap falls off easily. A magnet would be nice.

Amazing lens BUT impossible to hand hold
lets start by optical quality - great. no issues here. BUT if you hand hold it like me, a frequent traveler WITHOUT a tripod there are 2 huge issues: 1) the location of the tripod foot prevents you using the foot for support while on the same time reaching the zoom slider. it is Impossible to reach the zoom even with very long fingers like mine. 2) removing the collar leaves you with a hugely HEAVY lens and while you can finally reach the zoom sl... A Pleasure to Use
First, I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. It's not perfect, but it's really a solid performer for a pretty wide gamut of shooting situations. The good: The ergonomics are good, especially if you add the Shape shoulder mount and extension arm. I also added the Zacuto diopter as it's more compact than the stock piece. I can work all day with this on my shoulder and it balances really well with a V-Mount battery. Cine EI mode. Really really spectac... Show More

weak mount
Like others, I take serious issue with the quality of the mount. It easily broke off. Sony does not repair this. They also charge $135 to tell you they won't repair it. At least other manufacturers modify their standard mounts for these heavier setups. I'm beyond angry with Sony.

Is the FS7 worth the money?
Back in the fall of 2015 I bit the bullet and upgraded from my old faithful C100 to the Fs7. I myself do allot of commercial and narrative work and needed something that I could quickly set up and shoot with. I must say I am very impressed with this camera and with S-log3 I have plenty of latitude while grading in post. The image is superb but can be noisy at times, especially in the shadows. The menus before firmware 3.0 were honestly sluggish b... Show More

GOOD
This is a very unique lens, I only use it on a A7SII. There is currently no other native E mount lens that gives you this much flexibility and features. The power zoom is very smooth and there is very little focus breathing on this lens. For some reason, the native camera body remote trigger (cable release) allows you to power zoom in or out a bit slower than the on-lens button. I prefer the remote for slower movement. Using the zoom ring for a f... Show More

Great camera, versatile
One of the best cameras to come out in a while as far as specs+pricing. It will take you about two days to get familiar with all of the menu options - but once you get the hang of it, you're hooked. The new firmware (3.0) gets rid of the slow/delayed menu and adds interval recording for some easy to set up timelapses. I highly recommend this camera for people transitioning from DSLRs and for people who want internal 4K, slo-mo and a great image.
