Great portrait lens for the a6000
I wnated this lens for portraits. It produces nice and clear images with great pleasant bokeh. I purchased it over it's competitor (Sigma 60) because of the OSS and the extra 1-1/3 stop brightness

Excellent Lens
Very good lens for the price, especially if you are new to dsrl/mirrorless cameras. I am new to cameras and the kit lens made me feel like I had another glorified point and shoot camera. However, after using this lens with a large aperture, the boke that you get from this lens makes all your photos suddenly look very nice. This lens really made me feel happy about my camera purchase. I would highly recommend this for portraits (mostly outdoors unless you have some distance in the house). Until I purchase some other lenses, I don't see myself using my kit lens that much.

Nice lens, good price
I use this lens for portraits and have been experimenting with using it for macro photography with extension tubes. It is nice and clear and works great with the A6000. DXOMark rated it one of the best primes to use with the A6000, and I purchased it over it's competitor (Sigma 60) because of the OSS.

Fine 50 mm lens
This is a great addition to the kit 16-50mm lens. It is very sharp and the OSS works well. The focus is quick and quiet.

Awesome portrait lens
Love the 1.8! Super shallow depth of field. Crisp, sharp images. Semi manual focusing is easy with the a6000. Best lens I have had in a long time.

Sharp, fast lens - very happy
I've been very happy with this lens. It's quite sharp, and the overall image quality is great. The OSS is effective; I have been getting some great street shots at night, hand-held, with minimal ISO-raising. This has quickly become my go-to lens. It stays on my camera when it's in the bag in at-the-ready mode.

Good value
Not expecting too much from a lens of this price, that's how I started. But results are amazing. This very bright lens is - even completely open - sharp into the edges and autofocus is very fast. Perfect for street photography and portraits...

Everything I expected
Purchased this lens to shoot MMA and Muay Thai in low-light on a Sony a6000. Arguably a bit soft wide open but it gets the job done. Manual focusing is a breeze if/when needed.

Nice lens
The only other lenses I have for the a6000 are the kit lenses. This lens is sharper and takes better pictures than those. Well worth the purchase.

Great Portrait Lens. Love it!
My first prime/portrait lens. Picture images and video images look sharp and professional like. Played with it capturing images and was overall very impressed. The lens is a little bit slow to focus but not a deal breaker for me. The order came with a lens hood which is a plus. Hope you find this useful. Thanks.

Totally worth every penny!
I love my new lens!! It is definitely a must have. Great for portraits and outdoors. I have no downside for this lens

Nice lens with low aperture!
This lens is very nice, I use it for video. I wanted several lenses with other options so I purchased this one for the purpose of having a small aperture. I use my zoom lens more often than this one, but this is pretty good too. I have no regrets and nothing bad to say about this lens. If you want it, you should buy it because I recommend it. It is exactly what the description says it is. In this case, you get what you pay for; this lens is not t... Show More

Killer Portrait Lens
This lens is a real bargain. It's as good as any portrait lens I've ever used, including any of my old German Zeiss Ikon lenses. Excellent for low-light situations too. I can bump the FS in my a6000 and shoot with ambient light in all but the darkest settings. Focus does tend to hunt a little in very low light situations, but so does practically every other lens. That's what manual focus is for.

Great in low light
The kit lens on my VG30 was a bit grainy when shooting a band in a low-light club. This lens was a great solution. As a prime lens, it doesn't zoom, but it lets in so much more light that I can stand further away and zoom in FCPX (or use cam's digital zoom, which is the same a cropping in post). Beautiful bokeh when close-up. Image stabilization makes it a winner. Very, very pleased.

Outstanding Indoor Lense
I needed a reliable indoor lense compatible with my SonyA6000 --- as always B&H staff are always professional and savvy in recommending an appropriate device. My son's indoor volleyball photos were clear, even though the lighting in the gym was minimal. A perfect complement to the A6000.

This lens provides a sharp photo.
I have used this lens for portraits and it is very sharp. Even though it is a F/1.8 and not a F/1.2 it still provides a very clean picture inside and out. I am trilled that I bought this lens especially for the price.

sharp and great bokeh
Purchased this along with my sony a6000 (along with the kit lense). Very pleased with the portrait quality but it at times gets a bit cramp indoors due to the sensor crop factor. I sell shoes online and this lense is a shoe's best friend lol. Macro in general is great and the bokeh is awesome at 1.8.

Like a New Pair of Glasses
This lens makes it incredibly easy to capture moments in beautiful clarity every time. Fast/accurate autofocus on my a6000 makes it an absolute joy to use. Gorgeous bokeh and sharpness nearly across the frame. Good build quality, seems made to last. Great lens overall!

Fantastic Lens
I started out with the SEL35F18, which is a fantastic lens. I recently started using this lens, and wow! It's just a little tighter, but the bokeh and clarity are superb. I still recommend having both lenses, but if I could do it again, I'd start with this one. I use a Sony NEX-6, by the way.

Alpha's Best Friend
This lens is as close to no-compromises as an inexpensive lens can be. Image quality, and sharpness are fantastic. I've had no trouble with chromatic aberrations or distortion, and vignetting is manageable. I love the metal construction. Sony designed high quality glass while managing to keep the overall package inexpensive and including OSS stabilization! In my mind there's no excuse to not own this lens if you've purchased a a5000, a51000, or a6000 camera.

Buy it NOW!
This is the best bang for the buck Sony E-Mount lens in the lineup, bar none. It's priced well below where it should be, which is rare. It's small, well-built, lightweight, has silent auto focus, is razor sharp--even wide open, and has Image Stabilization. It's a nice hunk of glass that should cost at least 50% more than it does. It's also the perfect size for the Sony a6000, and a great focal length for portraits. It also focuses very close and ... Show More

Stunning lens at a stunning bargain.
What more could you want from this price tag? Stabilization-check, Bokeh-check, low light-check, metal housing-check, decent focusing ring-check, included hood-check. Say what you want about e-mount lenses but who else can offer this feature set at this price? Certainly not Canon or Nikon. In all honesty this is the third time I've owned this lens, every time thinking I would find something better but the simple fact is the value of this lens is ... Show More

Obsessed with the 50mm!
I purchased this lens to use as a portrait lens with my a6000 and 5n and have been very satisfied with the results! It also works well to get closeups of a baby napping in a crib. Focuses quickly and does well in low light situations around the house. I only wish I had purchased it earlier when I bought the 5n! I have the 24mm Zeiss as well and the IQ from this lens is on par with what I get from the Zeiss (and with less out of focus shots while hand holding due to the OSS!).
