Perfect travel companion
This is the perfect travel companion if you don't want to carry your professional or semi-professional gear on a trip. The quality of the pictures is the best I've seen for a 1 sensor. Granted it can't compete with a full frame sensor but if you are traveling to places that the other camera will draw too much attention, this will do the trick and as a bonus reduce your carrying weight. If you shoot raw, you should be able to enhance the pictures ... Show More

Excited to Explore the Possibilities
My camera prior to the Sony DSC-RX100 III was my Phone. Prior to that it was a Pentax ME (1970?) Needless to say, I am a novice with ambitions to become competent. I wanted a camera that I could carry with me (like my phone), enable me to practice taking images anytime I saw something interesting, and had the features and image quality that would encourage me to become a competent photographer. Other cameras did not fit in my pocket, did not seem... Show More

Miracles Do Happen
Hello Friends. I've been searching for the miracle compact camera for years. My dream was finding a compact camera with superb optics, intelligent design, and stunning video. The Sony RX100 Mk3 has ended my quest. I shoot intensive video documentaries - I don't have time for lighting or audio set ups This pocket camera delivers very high quality detailed video. The audio is quite amazing as well. The camera's ergonomics allow for very inventive s... Show More

Mixed bag
Excellent pictures, as a bottom line. Controls leave something to be desired. For instance changing the point of focus requires at least 3 button pushes, while a well designed DSLR would just require you nudge the rocker switches. Too many manual adjustments require going to layers of menues. This camera functions best as a point and shoot, and it does that VERY well (except for clipping highlights). It's not so good if you like to make manual ad... Show More

Pocket Camera Replaces DSLR?
Now I don't have to haul around a big DSLR to do my duties as family documentarian. I previously used an older pocket camera to minimize the load, but the image quality was never up to the level I would get from my DSLR(s). The DSC-RX100 M3 yields better images than my 200 and gives my SLT 65 with Sigma 17-70/2.8-4 serious competition in some applications. The pop-up viewfinder is wonderful, partly because it's very good indeed, but also because a... Great camera with no zoom
This is a great camera with one major flaw. First the flaw. The zoom is way too short. I'd read the reviews commenting on this, but thought it would not be a big problem. Mistake. It is. If I had to do it over again, with what I know now based on the experience of using the camera, I would not buy this camera. It has very little zoom range. Now the good stuff. This camera is a bit like having a digital SLR in a small camera body. It take great im... Show More

My search is over
I've owned this little wonder for only a few weeks now, and I already haven't picked up my NEX 6 for anything. This is the camera I have been searching for for a very, very long time. IQ is amazing. Shutter lag, or lack there of, also amazing. Focus speed? Yep, just what I need. Honestly, I have not been this happy with a camera or it's performance, especially one that can fit in my cargo shorts pocket, ever before. I love it. Highly recommended.... Show More

Purchased for carry anywhere camera
Although no camera is perfect, this one comes very close for the money (Such a Deal!). I wanted a carry camera with a zoom. The RX100III fits nicely into a small belt mounted Lowepro case that I found in @ that I purchased for protecting and carrying everywhere. Being used to lugging a Canon 5DMKII with Canon 24mm--70mm L glass lens (read heavy as lead), I find the RX100III a joy to carry on my belt. The 24mm to 70mm zoom range matches that of my... One of the best
I have read quite a few complaints about this model III concerning its lens problem (shutter does not close etc...) I have two models II and III, none of them have any problem whatsover (Though I hate the fact they were made in China. I don't like any men's toys made in China AT ALL). I am willing to pay more if they are made in Japan. Concerning problem with shutter' problem, blame yourself first. Take good care of it, it will give me hour of pl... Show More

Works as promised.
This is a very good, high quality pocket camera that takes excellent pictures. That being said, it's not a full-frame DSLR, nor can it function easily in manual mode. The EVF, while functional, isn't as large as it should be, but then again, this is a pocket camera with a lot of features crammed in for the price. It does what it's supposed to do. This is a backup camera, one you keep in your hip pocket while traveling, or in your camera bag if yo... Show More

Perfect compact camera
This camera is the best combination of pocketability and features out there. I was looking for a compact system camera with a high quality lens and this is it. I've used Micro Four Thirds and this approaches that level of dynamic range, noise and detail without sacrificing portability. The wifi connection to my iphone is very easy to use and makes sharing photos simple. I was most surprised by the low noise at ISO 3200, something that compact cam... Show More

Best Point and shoot. Period
While not usually an early innovator, I purchased the first generation of this camera. Coincidentally, I ran into a Sony rep that very week, and he showed me the shortcuts for clustering functions. The camera always leaves the house with me. Always. On big shoots, it is used for behind the scenes video.. The new, 3rd generation is a bit heavier, but the tilt out screen is worth it. Other writers have handled the faster lens vs shorter throw on th... Show More

Phenomenal images from a camera this sma
I was in the market for a replacement for my aging Panasonic GX-1 mirrorless camera. The Panasonic just wasn't performing well in low-light conditions and I was trying to find something a bit smaller, with a viewfinder and tiltable screen. The Sony fit the bill perfectly, though it did have a hefty price tag. After a few weeks with this device, I'm hooked. The camera somehow is able to decent pictures in near darkness, and in good light, sharpness... Show More

Wow, did I have high hopes
I bought this based on incredible rave review after incredible rave review. Although a little out of my budget, I found that B&H had a high quality used model. When it arrived, I couldn't wait to test it. After my first shots, I was shocked by lousy picture quality. I tried a full factory reset, twice. Even after that, my shots were horribly overexposed and the camera seemed unable to focus. The only halfway decent shots I had were in low light o... Show More

So Glad I Bought This Camera
I manage social media for a busy natural horsemanship barn, so aside from recruiting my hubby with his DSLR and big wonkin' lens, I ride around with a camera in my pocket a lot. At the barn, on the trail, on the beach during annual group camps there that camera works and needs to pop out of my pocket and work with one hand. Tired of great shots with not-so-great results, I bought the RX100 III so I could take RAW photos, grab video on the go, and... Show More

Best P+S I've ever owned (so far)
I'm a professional photographer, mostly editorial work for publications. Worked 20 years as a newspaper staffer. Now as full time freelancer, I mostly shoot feature stories, travel pieces and a lot of portraits. This is the camera I carry w/me always. Hurray for adding an EVF
I traded up from the M2, and so far, I haven't missed the extra 30mm of focal length on the telephoto end (28-100 vs. 24-70). The faster lens is blissful. The EVF is a fabulous addition. That said, I'm not terribly thrilled with the 2 step manual process to actually use it: 1) pop it up and 2) manually pull it out with a light touch, or it feels like you might break it. Someone with larger, less than dexterous fingers may not like it. Sony still ... Show More

This camera is mainly for my wife as she doesn't like to pull out my dslr. I also use this to take pictures of the LO. Great camera for the size and quality of pictures. underwhelmed
I had the RX100 mark 1 for about two and a half years when I broke it. I LOVED that camera. I bought the new mark 3 basically for the faster lens. Is it worth the extra $. Maybe? Although I like the extra aperture I get with the new mark 3 the focus is more finicky. Sometimes it doesn't pick up focus on things that it shouldn't have any problem focusing on and I end up fighting with the camera and missing the shot. Also, at close distances and th... Show More
