Amazing!

Jul 20, 2014

Bought this camera as a walk around, but find myself using it more than my E-M1 and E-M10. So small, yet the results are fantastic. The only downside is the limited zoom of 24-70. The 20.1 megapixel raw files are huge.

An excellent camera

Jul 19, 2014

It is a 20 Mpixels camera; but what a difference from my older 16 Mpixels camera! Unbelievable level of detail. Thanks to a large sensor, and a bright lens I think.

Extremely Satisfying

Jul 18, 2014

The specs of this camera are well documented so I will write about specifics of what I like (and don't) in my specific use of the camera.LOVE:1. Electronic Viewfinder. I grew up on (D)SLRs, and the EVF on this camera gives that same feeling of more accurate framing and composition. The EVF was the number one reason for upgrading from the original RX100, and I would likely have made the move for that alone. Also, I feel that steadying the camera a... Show More

Improvements over the original RX100

Jul 17, 2014

Having bought the original RX100 almost 2 years ago, I was looking for a replacement that might improve on photos I take of my grandkids as well as a pocket camera to keep on hand on photographic trips when I am principally using a DSLR. I was considering the Fuji X100S and the m3 RX-100. I decided on the latter, in part because of its smaller size. Having had the RX100m3 for about 3 weeks now, I can say that there are several improvements over t... Show More

A lot of performance in a small camera

Jul 16, 2014

Wow, this is an amazing camera for the size! Footprint is roughly the same as my iPhone, only 2x as thick and a good bit heavier. Ideally suited for travel. The DSC-RX100 iii takes incredible pictures with a nice balance between auto functionality plus ability to tweak the settings (and of course you can go fully manual if you prefer). The EVF is excellent, and I love the flexibility of the flash with an angle tht can be adjusted. Great low light... Show More

RX100 I and RX100 III

Jul 15, 2014

I love my RX100 Iit's thin-ness is perfect for a shirt pocket. It takes very handsome pictures, with very high pip, letting viewers zoom in to incredible detail. Very good low light performance, esp. at wide angle settings. And the movie modes are very good, easy to use. This camera performs way above its weight. So when the RX100 III was announced, I knew I had no choice but to get it. This camera has not disappointed me. It is faster, and the u... Show More

Everything I expected and more

Jul 14, 2014

I love this camera! It is light and compact and has great image and video quality. Coming from my Canon 7D, it took a little bit to get used to how small the camera is and the controls, but now it feels great in the hand. I finally decided to make the move on this compact when they added the builtin viewfinder. This is important to me because I really do not enjoy looking on the back LCD of cameras to take photos. The viewfinder really makes me f... Show More

Mixed bag

Jul 14, 2014

Excellent pictures, as a bottom line. Controls leave something to be desired. For instance changing the point of focus requires at least 3 button pushes, while a well designed DSLR would just require you nudge the rocker switches. Too many manual adjustments require going to layers of menues. This camera functions best as a point and shoot, and it does that VERY well (except for clipping highlights). It's not so good if you like to make manual ad... Show More

Best high performance compact

Jul 14, 2014

The RX100 iii is the best high performance compact on the market. There are times when having a small camera is the only way to travel with a camera. For those that want as little performance compromise as possible while traveling with a small camera this is it. The camera is easy to use and takes great pictures. For those that like aperture or shutter priority and more manual shooting those features are available too. I mainly stick with apertur... Show More

Very small put in your pocket camera with extremely good picture quality, takes JPEC and Raw. I like the pop up view finder. It's just a great little camera when you don't want to lug a big D800E or 4X5 around.

Great little pocket camera. Very high I.Q. with plenty of pixels if you like to crop. I'm very happy with the 24-70 mm focal length and I rarely wish I needed more. I now have a camera that's always with me and I be satisfied with the images.

Nice Point and Shoot

Jul 13, 2014

I bought this camera expecting the hype to be half true in that the image quality would blow me away for such a compact camera. While good, I would not say it was all that it was hyped to be. I've seen a lot of comparisons to the A6000 which, with the kit lens, is about on par with the RX100m3. However, add just about any Sony/Zeiss lens to the A6000 and the contest is over. My first RX100m3 arrived DOA. After a few weeks, I'd say my A6000 is the... Show More

Pricey, Pants Pocketable, Great IQ

Jul 12, 2014

I moved up from original rx100 to m3, for all the features I wanted: Pop Up EVF, relocated flex-back flash, 24mm wider view, tilt lcd. WiFi works well, lets me send pics of my Grandaughter to my smartphone and email to Grandma instantly. Image Stabilization is definitely improved, I am getting blur free slow shutter shots handheld that I could not get with original rx100. I wish it had a way to use an external mic for music recordings. You need another camera for more zoom, see my review of jacket pocket Oly Stylus 1, or check out shoulder strap sized Sony RX10, or Pan FZ1000

So easy and so good!!

Jul 11, 2014

I am a recreational photographer who also has a SLR with 3 lenses. I wanted a good compact camera for traveling and hiking. I had the MK2 which I loved and decided to upgrade mainly for the built in EVF. I have slight eyesight issues in the sun, so this has solved my big problem. I think the quality of the pictures is fantastic! It is worth every penny! I wish they included a comprehensive user manual rather that a simplified guide.

Great camera but appears a little fragil

Jul 11, 2014

Purchased as a second camera to my 5D Mk III. A camera that I can have with me at all times. A bit large to just put in a pocket but small enough to carry on my belt. Image quality is excellent, also love the lens, f1.8, still able get blurry backgrounds with such a small camera. Found the menu system easy to navigate and with enough manual control to suit my shooting style. My main complaint would be the flip out screen appears to be a bit fragile and it does not clip in to the closed position very well. Also the fit in this area is not 100%.

RX100 III, great improvement from M II

Jul 9, 2014

I am a professional photographer. My usual kit is a Canon EOS 5D M III with quite a few lenses. This gets to be heavy but is what I need to get the shots I need routinely. However, there are times when I want a camera with me but don't want to cart the full kit around, for example, on a motorcycle ride. I send my photos to a stock agency and they require a minimum file size which most point-and-shoot cameras don't meet. So advantage number one of... Show More

DSLR Resolution in a Smaller Package

Jul 9, 2014

I've been quite impressed with the image quality of this camera. As a digiscoper this camera has replaced the Nikon V3 as my go-to tool for recording birds under high magnification. With the 40X eyepiece on my spotting scope the RX100 III at 70mm gives an EFL of 2800mm. This requires a fast, sharp lens and the Zeiss f/1.8-2.8 delivers. Focus-peaking provides critical focusing and 10fps means sharp images even when the birds are moving. ISO is usable to 6400 so fast shutter speeds are guaranteed even in low-light situations. Wonderful camera!

Great camera but I have battery quibbles

Jul 8, 2014

The battery life of this camera is really bad. I have to walk around with at least 3 extra batteries for an afternoon of shooting. The new pull-out electronic view finder is a really great addition but it is easy to nudge it back with your eyewear or brow and it goes out of focus. It's easy to fix but annoying. The screen settings are still a hidden myriad mess...perhaps the next version will offer a touch screen.
