Great Multi-feature Still/Video Camera
I was pondering between the FZ1000 and this smaller sensor FZ300. But Panasonic was over-protecting the GH3/GH4 camera, so they tried to make the FZ1000 impossible to mount a quick-released tripod plate fearing some poor filmmaker could use it for professional work and eat up the market for the higher end GH 4 ??!. For me it's a Stupid decision ! So I must settle on the FZ300 with a lesser sensor, with a better bootem plate, so I can attach a Sim... Show More

Excellent
I take pictures all the time and I can say that this is an excellent camera. I have Sony A65 and pictures I take with FZ300 are compatible. May be you can get better picture with DSLR and couple thousand worth of good optics but for non professional photographer this camera represents fantastic value. I highly recommend this camera. Battery life could be better. I can take around 400 pictures using viewfinder.

FZ 300 is great
I use the FZ 300 camera for serious amateur photography. I have only had it a couple of weeks but I am very well satisfied with the photos and videos that I have taken. Having the constant f2.8 lens is a huge plus.

5 Stars Just for Existing, but Nothing's Perfect
Consider a 25mm - 600mm F/2.8 lens for an SLR. The very fact that this camera exists, albeit with a small sensor, is amazing and easily earns this camera 5 stars. There is no similar camera to consider in this category. I also owned the prior model, the DMC-FZ200. It was great. This is much better. Once turned on, this camera has the performance of an SLR, or perhaps better. I don't recall ever getting 12 frames per second from my old EOS 50D. Ac... Show More

Exceeds Expectations
I have used the FZ5,FZ150 and FZ200 before making this purchase. They were all good choices in their time. But the FZ300 is a big leap forward over the FZ200. The lens is the same as the FZ220(a good thing) but the ergonomics are much better, the button placements improved, the EVF is fantastic and the software greatly enhanced. Autofocus is fast. Having used Panasonic equipment for years, stepping up was an easy transition. I would note that Pan... Show More

Travel Camera
I have been debating purchasing a super zoom travel lens for my dslr, and had the opportunity to try one out, I did not like the total weight of everything, so I decided to give this a try on our next vacation. Playing around with it, seems like it has alot of potential to be a great travel camera!! Lightweight, but with a dslr grip, it makes it possible to take single hand burst shots, or quick candids

The best camera for wilderness photography I have ever owned
Sure there are cameras for ten grand with lenses you can change for another twenty grand that is vanity equipment for the owner's ego. In the jungles of Central America, I am in run-and-gun mode. I am not about to risk toting 20 grand of cameras and lenses in the extreme environments where I work. When I'm working, my assistant is not a photo assistant... Great value
I bought this as a second to my GH4 for video, but I'm very impressed the FZ300's abilities as a still camera. I've taken grab shots that are super sharp and clear. The lens and image stabilization are top quality for the price. The 4K video is MP4 format, but it looks good against the GH4 when editing in Premiere. Nearly a deal killer is the fact that the SDXC card is hidden in the battery compartment so I have to remove the camera from the tripod to access the card. Not good. You can't beat this cam for capturing good 4K video for such a low price.

Great Camera!
This camera has a hybrid shutter system. You can select either a standard mechanical shutter or a fully electronic shutter.

FANTASTIC CAMERA!
Image quility is clear, great photo's in low light, and fantastic zoom. This is the camera of cameras. The Megapixle count isn't as high as you'd like it, but it's enough to get fantastic pictures that pop, and are cropable if needed. The camera is a little on the large size, and you will need a carrying case for it, but the pictures are well worth it. I would def. recommend this product.

A great travel camera
I use Pentax DSLR, and have been using the FZ300 since it came out a few months ago. It is lightweight and compact, takes 52mm filters, and weatherproof. Those are all good. But the camera feels fragile to me, since I am used to the solidly built body, dials and buttons of my Pentax DSLR. The dials are poorly made. Glad I bought the extended warranty. This is such a nice camera, but they should not have mounted a motor mechanism for going from wide to tele. This is just a waste of the small battery, and also, gets in the way of composing the frame. A manual zoom would have been so much better.

Just what I wanted: long zoom, weatherproof.
Nature, travel, and family photos, probably in that order. I carried a backup, weatherproof camera on every trip for several years. The FZ300 makes that unnecessary. Image quality is about what you'd expect from this size sensor. The zoom is very useful for wildlife. I am not sure what turns on macro focusing. Manual focusing is great: you have a one-push get-started help, picture in picture, and focus peaking. Focusing is fast and accurate. It i... Show More

Just what I was waiting for
In my amateur opinion it's the best bridge camera out there if you do a lot of hand held shooting, especially in low light, due to the fast lense. I had been trying to pick between an FZ200 and a weather resistant bridge camera ( I'm always outdoors with it) but now that the 300 claims weather resistance, it's a no brainier.

Photography bliss
I consider myself an amateur photographer, but the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ 300's capability makes me look like a professional with a DSLR. It is that good! The sharpness, clarity and overall quality of my photography is in the exceptional range even with the 1/2.3 sensor. Because I particularly like to photograph nature, I am b... Show More

Better image quality than a Sony A6000 with kit lens
This Panasonic FZ300 is unbelievable the Leica lens with its f.2.8 lens all the way up to 600mm would cost thousands on a SLR I don't miss the A6000 large sensor (sold to get the FZ300 hated swapping lens and a backpack full of lens) as long as I keep it at 100 ISO up till 400 ISO the f2.8 lens more than makes up for the smaller sensor in low light situations but the sharp lens is we're this camera wins and macro an all in one camera can't be bea... Improvement over the FZ200
If it wasn't for dropping my FZ200, I would never had known what I was missing. This is really a nice camera. It is a bit bigger than the FZ200, but the features ... I won't repeat what others have already said, if you have the money I would recommend that you buy this one. Also got the FZ1000 at the same time I got this, but at this time have only used the FZ300. Will review the 1000 once I put this camera down to play with the other.

FZ300 senor is too small .
The FZ300 has a huge amount of features but is crippled by the 12.1 MP 1/2.3 MOS Sensor. Images at ISO 400 and above have too much noise and lack sharpness. On the positive side the FZ300 has very nice video and zoom. For the money I would get the FZ1000 or Sony RX10(owned) that has a larger sensor.

Best in Class!
This is the third Panasonic Lumix camera I have owned, and undoubtedly the best of the group. Having previously owned the FZ28 and FZ200, I am sold on the optics and image quality and range of superior features in these units. Solid video modes and good photos
I bought this camera as a 4k video solution to expand on my gopro hero 4's as b cameras. My main camera is a red scarlet dragon and use it for just about everything including my wedding and events. Why not right? But I need something that could shoot 4k video and was super small and could respectfully match footage to the Scarlet Dragon. This camera does that well enough that I'm happy with it.
