Nice camera
I haven't had much time to play around with it but it seems to be built well. Takes a nice picture. The logarithmic shooting works well and gives a lot of latitude. The cards whole a lot of video so if you run and gun you can shoot a lot before you run out of room, unlike some other cameras that shoot a nice rob picture but take up a ton of space. Has built-in and D which is great. A good run and gun camera if you're shooting on the fly plus it d... Show More

Feature packed at a great price
I purchased this camera shortly after release and wanted to give it some time and usage prior to writing a review. Originally, I was also considering the JVC GY-LS300 and Sony a7Sii. As of April 2016, there is still nothing which comes close to the DVX-200 in terms of on board features for a run and gun camera in this price range. If you're concerned with size, the Sony a7Sii might be a good competitor if you only record for short durations or ne... Show More

Fantastic Documentary Camera
I purchased this camera specifically for documentary footage where much of the action of spontaneous. While the automatic features are very accurate, pre-planning and use of the wide range of variable setting will result in the style and mood you demand. This is not a camera for amateurs, but it designed for professionals who understand the advantages of variable focal length, iris, shutter speed, white balance, gain, and an incredible number of ... A bit of a learning curve...
We've had the DVX200 for a week now and little by little I am learning the in's-and-out's. We predominantly shoot corporate videos for YouTube (how-to, product overview, etc.) mostly using Canon's 5D MKIII and XA10. The XA10 was a good starter camera but was a pain to use. With the majority of the controls buried in touch-screen menus we often found ourselves using the auto setting for most of or run-and-gun b-roll. This, along with the benefits ... Show More

YOU GUYS ARE RETURNING FULLY FUNCTIONAL CAMERAS!
I love mine. There is a sensor on the eyepiece that when you put your face close to it will switch off the LCD Screen in favor of the eyepiece. If you put your hand close to it... it will switch it off. You can turn this off in the settings I believe. The screens ARE NOT SHORTING OUT.

My New Main Camera
We were using a Canon XF-300 as our ENG camera for our small TV station on the west coast. We use a Canon C300 for our beauty shots and we had a Blackmagic Ursa Mini on order for almost a year. After losing yet another batch of shots to the XF's moodiness, I decided it was time to replace it. Saw this camera, specs looked good, so I gave it a chance. To say that I am impressed is an understatement. After using it every day for two weeks all I can... Show More

pleasantly pleased
long time community volunteer shooter & editor. Local school productions, live concerts & events. Like driving a Lexus after using my hmc 40p for years-greatly improved low light & picture quality. Works smoothly( zoom a little touchy, but hopefully I will adapt) has a broadcast quality clarity to picture (so far-concert footage, medium lighting). Had trouble getting dual codec to work, but hope to figure it out. Shot with slight in camera proces... Show More

Awesome camcoder
I really liked the fact that this camcorder has 4/3 sensor...can get really good shallow DOF shots....I really dont like when f stops move from 2.8 to 4.5 when zoom in...I wish this has constant f-stops all the way....

Camera has potential
Nice zoom. Great features. I am not completely satisfied with the low-light capabilities. It seems more grainy even then my Panasonic GH4. I wish it had the GH4's preset looks too instead of the ones that come with it. Also heavier than my AG-AC160 so not the best for hand holding for long periods.

So Far So Good
About to go overseas w/ this camera and 1-man-band a corporate video. More opinions after that. Not good in low light but any noise introduction is filmic looking. Infrared in lowlight is a bonus and not offered on many cams. It has that green look but definitely works well. Would be fairly fantastic for documentary/wildlife work. Bokeh is real and easily achieved -- very cool. This is unlike any camcorder in terms of being able to achieve that. ... Show More

Love it! powerful & tweakable yet simple if you want it 2b
After much research this was my choice. I am happy with it so far.The picture looks gorgeous (and lets be honest, thats what counts with a camera) and i created my own LUT for use with the Vlog Mode and it really looks amazing.THE LCD TURNING OFF IS NOT A DESIGN FLAW IT IS A FEATURE THAT WORKS! so dont be alarmed and return it because you think its shorting out. it turns off when your eye is up to the OLED view finder to save battery. i like it. ... A dependable video workhorse tool.
This is an excellent tool for shooting most video. Incredibly sharp lens married together with a sensor that has the right amount of Bokeh. It makes sense for the individual that is shooting at events and doesn't want a crazy amount of Bokeh so things that should remaining in focus actually do so. Also put that together with a focusing system that works well and is dependable. Intriguing features such as integrated transitional focus and the abil... Show More

LCD Panel Cutting In and Out on delivery- bummer
Just received my DVX200. Opened the box powered it on and flipped out the LCD viewfinder and it immediately began to cut in and out of black when camera was moved. I imagine there is a loose connection somewhere. So much for Panasonic's Quality Assurance. Putting it back in the box for another unit. The best I can say at this point is thanks B&H for making the return process so easy. I hope to repost a better review of this camera when I get a working unit!

Excellent Low Cost Run N Gun Camera
We purchased the DVX200 for our production company primarily as a lightweight run-N-gun camera and for live productions. We have several other Panasonic ENG cameras, including HPX-500s and HPX-170s. The one live event we've done, mixing this camera with a couple of HPX500s, it really matched up well. We have not experienced any of the problems described by some of the other reviewers with this system. Obviously the lens is not a $ + piece of glas... Show More

Excellent Run & Gun Camera
This is not for the Joe average its an incredible video camera that when shooting fully manual is a remarkable tool. Guys if you have High sensitivity turned on and AGC above 18db you will get noisy video, its a great camera in low light if you know what you are doing. A frame of video off of a DCI 4K image at 16 bit colour are over 54 mbs tiff image.

I think it's a beast!
So finally I got my hands on this camera at the BH store. I played around with this camera for about 90 minutes during my visit and noticed quite a lot. Picture quality is amazing. The images are crisp and sharp. The rings on the lens move around smoothly. I found the v-log L mode the best to shoot (12 stops of dynamic range) especially if you want to spend time color grading. The servo zoom fits nicely towards your fingers when using it. I loved... Show More

Great Camera - run and gun or solid studio work
Personally I like the familiar layout of the camcorder design and the ease of use. It's heavily menu driven so you will need to spend a good deal of time learning the many options it offers. I know Nikon, Sony and Canon all very well but this is my first Panasonic so there was a bit of a learning curve. Once you get those menus down everything works great. Good flexible Leica lens offers the clarity you need as well as a macro options as well. On top of that is the very reasonable price. A good product and bargain on all counts.

Needs tweaking
I bought this unit believing it would be great for a documentry project. Out of the box this camera was very difficult to get a clean picture with accurate colors. After a few days I had to return due to the fact I don't have time to become an expert on this camera in order to operate it. I believe the scene files need some work. I was able top get a better picture after downloading a few scene files from a Panasonic expert...Berry? (sorry I can't remember the name) Decided to return and save more money for a Sony Fs7. I did not see many advantages over my GH4.

design flaw ?
tried to post this earlier but it didnt make it in there appears to be a design flaw with the flip out monitor it keeps going in and out. We are now sending back our 2nd camera to bh. My cameraman was running it thru , and everytime he removed it from a tripod it happened. He didnt feel it was a great run and gun Very disappointed in Panasonic , its hard to believe that we got the only 2 cameras with this problem

possible design flaw
very frustrated with panasonic. have ordered 2 different agdvx 200's and they appear to have a design flaw. Very simply when you take the camera off tripod and move it around the viewfinder shorts out. Not good. Was all set to buy 2 of them, My camera guy liked a good deal of it, said the scene files were a learning curve. But I need to have confidence in the camera. May look toward the Sony FS 5. I am so disappointed in Panasonic. Hard to rate the other parts of it when a key component has malfunctioned twice.!!!!

This camera has a very steep learning curve. Out of the box, it might bite you if you rely on the factory scene files. Expect a yellowish cast on your footage, especially skin tones if you don't pay strict attention to exposure. You will not find rave reviews of this camera because most reviewers don't have the time to delive into all its features and set them up properly. Really Enjoying The DVX200
I've had the camera for nearly two weeks and have to say its a great run-n-gun camera for what I do. This is going to be a great camera for documentary and ENG work. I shoot mostly in manual model for everything, but the auto focus works good for those times you need. Panasonic just released a new firmware update for the camera and it cleans some of the fine noise in the shadows in lower light situations. I shoot only in V-Log for the best DR. In... Show More
