Spent a week in Iceland with this amazing camera. The 50 MP composite shot of the Iceland landscape and sunsets are stunning. Very fast autofocus. Image stabilization is incredible. I was shooting night waterfall pics at 5 seconds handheld.

A seriously major upgrade from the earlier EM-1. There are many reviews out there so I won't repeat what has already been said. Most are very positive. Lloyd Chambers and Thom Hogan are very critical of certain aspects of the camera - notably the menu system, small size of the icons for those who are visually challenged and apparent complexity. Fortunately, although I am in my mid 60,s I still don't need reading glasses. I have found that you abs... Show More

Another Giant Leap

Jan 4, 2017

Having used Olympus OM-D Cameras for several years, I was look forward to this latest body and it is quite a step up from the E-M1 I've been enjoying. Well built and slightly larger so it fits in my hands better that the original. Better resolution and substantially quiter when using the mechanical shutter. But you can always stealth in silent mode too if you want it. Longer lasting battery and dual SD slots. If you're a fan on the line like I am, you won't be dissapointed.

Features and performance on a higher level.

Jan 1, 2017

I'm shooting Olympus for 16 years. Finally I feel like the Mark II is a better camera than Nikon/Cannon. I shot my 90 to 250 F2.8 4/3rds with a 2X adaptor (35mm = 1,000mm @ F5.6) at 1/60 sec hand held without issues. I am not aware of any other camera that could do this. I used the pro-capture feature that captures 18 shots per second before the shutter release is pushed to capture images I would have missed. Also the electronic shutter option is completely silent. Generally the camera is just lightning fast. There are too many new features to review. Check out the youtube videos.

Remote Shutter Release info

Dec 31, 2016

I'll provide a detailed review after more time with this camera. After just 24-hours, so far, I'm impressed with the engineering and thought that's gone in to this model. I'm also an OMD EM-1 owner, and expected the remote shutter release to work similarly - via the USB port. I use the Vello Shutterboss wireless remote so started looking for the correct cable, and then discovered that the Mark II has IT'S OWN remote trigger connector that is NOT ... Show More

I was about to invest in a second EM1 body to replace my aging EM5 when i first saw the rumors regarding the EM1 Mk2. I decided to wait....and wait...and wait. The price was announced and I, like everyone else almost rethought MFT completely. However I can't write off the quality of the glass and the image stabilization. So with a heavy heart and lighter wallet i pulled the trigger and preordered. It arrived 2 weeks ago and i've been shooting wit... Show More

very fast camera. low light and noise seem better than e-m1 mk1. Autofocus is much better than pevious m4/3 - waiting for sports seasons to start up again. Lots of options in menu system. takes some time to learn, but the customization ability is a good thing. swivel screen - I think I like the old tilt version better because I can quickly look at it at an angle. new screen you have to open all the way to tilt it - works well when you are using i... Olympus crippled a great camera

Dec 26, 2016

To comply with EU tax rules, Olympus has limited videos to 29 minutes. This makes it impossible to record many symphony performances. I hope that Olympus modifies this for USA customers, even if we must pay for special firmware. Lumix SDXC II cards do NOT work in the camera. But it takes really excellent images. Exposure and color balance are really good. Focusing sometimes has issues if you wish to focus on the background rather than the foregro... Show More

Pro Camera for the Pros

Dec 26, 2016

Magazines and bloggers have already written many comprehensive reports so I wont attempt anything like that. Heres a few of my experiences and opinions. The EM-1 Mark II is a fantastic camera. It makes my original EM-5 seem like a dinosaur. My EM-5 got put on shelf and it remains there. Dec 26, 2016

A worthy new flagship camera. A triumph in digital photography feature integration and design, the OM-D E-M1 Mark II rides the mirrorless sweet spot of modest size and extreme performance. Improvements in every feature add up to more than the sum of their parts. You see better, move faster, can shoot like never before. The result is a compact system that performs like an extension of your imagination. For me the better you can see the better you ... Show More

The Next Step in the Evolution

Dec 26, 2016

I haven't even used up a full charge of the new, relatively massive battery yet, but I can already tell this is a huge improvement in ergonomics over the EM-1, which I have loved for the past two years and built the photographic side of my business around. Little things like putting the tripod mount dead center under the lens, reversing the 1-2 switch position and raising the EVF over the pivot/swivel touchscreen so the larger Olympus rubber eyep... New features improve on great camera

Dec 26, 2016

The new mark II model provides several meaningful improvements over the first e-m1 for my own particular photographic needs. These include the hires mode which combines multiple images taken over the course of about a second to provide much higher resolution files comparable to my Nikon D800 but in a much lighter and smaller system. This mode is only for relatively static scenes and requires a tripod but should be useful for a variety of landscap... Show More

I have shot a few thousand frames in all sorts of conditions and the camera hasn't let me down yet. The low light performance is so much better than my E-M5 and when combined with Pro Oly lenses, I have yet to have any sort of IQ issue. It is very well built, seems super durable. Dec 26, 2016

I have only used this camera for a few weeks but find that the IQ it gives me, both with PRO lenses and with the OLY 14-140 (an OK but not outstanding travel lens) is amazing. Major improvement over the OMD E-M1 which I have used for a couple of years. More new features than I may ever use but the menu system, generally, is well thought out. If you are used to the physical layout of the old E-M1 this camera body is almost exactly the same. No complaints at all so far. Looking forward to printing what I see on my computer!
