Great Lens for GH4

Jul 21, 2015

I needed a good low-light fixed lens for my GH4 as well as mounted on my gimbal. This one works great, it's very small and comes with the lens hood too. Sometimes the cheaper lenses don't focus as fast or smoothly as the more expensive ones but this one is very fast and smooth. I use is mainly for video and it's a true 50mm with the 2x crop factor. So far, I couldn't be happier with it. It's a must have for your kit if you need a cheaper fixed lens. I would recommend it for sure.

Favorite Lens !!

Nov 6, 2015

I have taken more than 9000 images already with this lens ! 7500 + of those are taken in Santorini where I could capture some incredible sunsets, portraits, etc. I just love the bokeh it produces. I attach a sample image where you can see the sharpness at a coffee glass and in the back 2 people.. I use it with my e-pl5. Mounting other lenses, comparing, things are day and night ! Also the price is not bad at all. Definitely keeping it as long as I am into mivro four thirds.

Para fines especficos

Jun 29, 2015

Fantastic lens!

Aug 24, 2015

This is an extremely sharp, well built lens that produces great contrast and color on my OM-D EM-5 Mark II. I was tempted by the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4, but I read reviews that showed the Olympus version to be almost as good, with better resolution than the Olympus. I didn't try the Panasonic lens but I can't imagine it being better than the Olympus 25 mm, and the Olympus is half the price. I couldn't be happier with this lens and it's what I use most of the time.

Great glass!

Aug 16, 2014

I wanted to add a prime lens to my E-M5 before going on vacation and this was the perfect thing. Shots are consistently excellent from many distances; up close it can produce some razor-sharp detail with nice bokeh, and from a distance it provides clear, even coverage.Whites are brilliant and colors translate as expected; I've had to do very little post-processing in Lightroom. The only downside is occassionally slow AF in low-light situations.Highly recommended!

A Well Made Lens

Dec 17, 2015

I purchased this lens to use with my Olympus OMD10. When I bought the camera for travel photography, it came with the 14-42 kit lens and I also got the 40-150mm. I added the 25mm to have the capability of shooting in lower light while having a focal length that works quite well for street shots. The quality of the lens (has a hood too!) is well beyond the other lenses which have plastic mounts and I've found the images sharp. A nice Bokeh is easily achieved.

Excellent Quality lens

Dec 2, 2015

Well built even though it is made of plastic rather than metal. Unlike the kit lenses that have plastic mounts, this guy has a metal one. It is very small and light weight. It has an extra tight fit to the body and talk about sharp...this lens lets you see the blood vessels in the eyes crisp as can be. Can't ask for any better images: rich color, sharp as a tack. Extra fast focusing...BAM, it's there! It delivers with a shade: another good feature.

Better Than Expected -Great!

Dec 23, 2015

I bought this 25mm to use as my primary street photography, take anywhere lens. I was using the 17mm 1.8 but I prefer less of a wide angle perspective and more of an up-close view. This lens gives me that and has great sharpness, bokeh, is light, small and quick to focus. I do miss the manual clutch that the 17mm had. With this on my Olympus E-m1 I feel almost as happy as when I bought my first 35mm camera, an Olympus OM1 with a 50mm 1.8.

Nice lens

Jul 13, 2015

Bought this to use as a second portrait lens on my EM5-2. Was using my Panasonic/Leica 42.5mm f/1.2 as my primary portrait lens. I needed something with a shorter focal length for some indoor and outdoor portraits where space is tight. This 25mm f/1.8 is perfect for the job. I love the look I get out of the photographs. Good image quality. This is a nice bright fast lens. Can't wait to try it in other types of photography.

Oh so fine

Mar 28, 2017

This was my Christmas present to me. I love this lens. So far I've taken it to family get-togethers and museums. The most challenging was the Charles River Museum of Industry. Very busy backgrounds and a very wide range of lighting conditions let me take the lens through its paces. I couldn't be more pleased. Crisp renderings, creamy backgrounds, and nice color, lovely. Even the dust came out well!

Crisp and Clear

Feb 2, 2016

This is a nice addition to your m4/3 kit, especially if you are accustomed to the 50mm normal lens in 35mm format, for all its virtues and faults. Fast, quiet, accurate AF. Sharp throughout the frame, especially when stopped down a bit, but still reasonably sharp wide open. Very nice color rendition. Still a good walkaround size, though not nearly as compact as the Panasonic 20mm.

Pretty Nice Addition For My Inspire 1 Pro Drone

Sep 4, 2017

I bought this lens to add to my DJI 15mm lens. I'm using it for the Inspire 1 Pro and I couldn't be happier with the clarity that this glass brings. 50mm equivalent, it allows me to get at the details that were often lost with the 15mm lens that came with the drone. I did have to take the balancing ring off of my 15mmin order to stabilize the gimble but no big deal.

second only to my 45mm 1.8

Aug 15, 2019

Love, Love, Love this lens. Classic 50mm equivalent focal length, fast 1.8 aperture, low price, what more could you want? This one also comes with the lens hood, unlike some other Olympus lenses (come on Olympus!). Check it for decentering when you get it because some of these have been known to be a little off. Otherwise, shoot with it and you to will love it.

It starts making noises when auto focusing.

Dec 19, 2016

The lens is great, over all. Days ago, I was very happy with it, but just like that it start making a weird noise when is trying to focus. I don't know why, but is very annoying, all my videos have that weird noise like clicking. If you use the manual focus the issue is gone, but I buy this system for the video recording in the first time, so is kind of sad.

To start this lens was bigger than i thought but in a good way. It has heft to it so it does not feel cheap. AF is quick and accurate even in low light so chances are you wont miss a shot. The colors that are rendered out of it are really pleasing to the eye. Good contrast in colors. Overall a good lens in exception to it have rattle snaking once or twice.

Light & Bright!

Mar 2, 2015

This not only squeezes the most light out of a shot for me, it really lightens the load! I had been carrying my 12-40mm PRO around on my EM-1 as my most utilitarian lens, which it is, but now I feel like I can take the camera out as a fast, lightweight street shooter and have a little more fun. And who doesn't need at least one f1.8 prime?

Nice Nifty Fifty lense

Jan 2, 2019

I had originally bought the Pannisonic 25mm 1.7. I had focusing issues with it, so I exchanged it for the Oly 25mm 1.8. I am more than pleased with this lense. It is sharp and focuses fast. Ive had it on my camera for weeks now. It is definitely a fun focal length to work with. Thank you B&H for making the whole exchange process painless.

Great sharp little lens

May 11, 2014

I use this as I used a 50mm lens back in the day. the sharpness of this lens is very good even wide open in the center. I've mainly used it so far for people pictures so i've not pixel peeped the corners. I did do a few test shots. The corner sharpness is quite good by f4.0. Build quality is quite good for a lens at this price point.

Awesome lens for everyday shooting

Jan 31, 2016

Bought this over the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 for the smaller size and better sharpness across the frame. The lens stay on my E-M5 II most of the time. It is sharp at all apertures. Only problem I have is in a quite room or when recording I can hear the autofocus motor. Thought it would be silent like my 14-150mm II or 14-42mm II

This is a great lens with great sharpness even wide open. This lens works out to be a 50mm on 35mm format which is great for everyday or street photography. You can achieve great bokeh with very thin depth of field and Olympus colors are always good. This lens is also very small and light weight. Highly recommended!

This is my first experince using prime lenses, and I am sold! I am very happy with the images I am getting with this lens. I like how small and light it is on the camera, even if it does feel a cheeper plastic feel. The lens hood is nice to have as well, although it makes it difficult getting the lens cap on.

Excellent lower light lens

Apr 5, 2016

I purchased this lens specifically to use indoors without a flash. It works as expected. I do limit the ISO auto adjustment in the camera to prevent very high ISO settings. On the down side when using wider f stops you do lose background focus, which is expected. So not really a critism, just a comment

Tiny performer

Apr 12, 2015

Strong, light, great performance. For those that prefer primes, this could be your everyday lens on m43. Doesn't review as strongly as the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4, but at the time of this review, the Oly retails for 40% less, weights 30% less, and is 25% shorter. Both lenses have their place.
