All I needed and more
I needed a relatively small 4K camera to shoot in a couple of public places in a stealth mode. This camera did the trick and more. Very easy to learn the quirks. Buttons, knobs and switches are in logical places and work the way expected. I did one practice shoot and then two days of my stealth shoot. All footage came out great.

Bad build quality
I ordered the camera for its price, but really you get what you paid for. Build quality is really bad. It's made of really cheap plastic, LCD Display looks terrible and feels like its gonna break. I was testing the camera and I literally just touched the LCD Display with my finger and it became all white and washed out. I had to return it. on the plus side it has many professional options and a lot of manual controls. But bottom line, spend a little more and get your self a better camera,.

Welcome to Dead pixel town
If only - Really love the look, sound and feel of this camera....if it weren't for the dead pixel that showed up the moment the warranty ran out. We have made several attempts and have heard of a secret menu area that would allow you fix this. However, we have never been able to find it. Buyer beware !

Excellent camera for a good price
I bought this camera a couple of days ago and I couldn't try in the field yet. However it feels very comfortable and I'm very happy with the performance. Some people told me that in low lights condition it doesn't work fine, but in manual mode there are a few settings that you can made to make it look better. Great deal for a good price!

Great Camera for the price
This camera replaced my 3chip Sony TRV900 DV camera that was stolen from me in 2006. A lot has changed in 10 years, 3 chip cameras are really not needed in the HD world. The price I paid for the TRV900 back then was over 3000.00. I was waiting for something that was affordable and had the professional features I was looking for. JVC hit the nail on the head for me with this one. Overall the camera is impressive, The plastic case is a little scary... Show More

Great Camera For Quick Shooting
While this camera provides the run and gun simplicity you may require, it has a few small things you must consider. First, you cannot get WIDE. At best you are going to have to back up to get into a tight space visually. The widest you'll get isn't going to be enough nor make you happy. If you don't have space to back up, you are not going to get the shot. Next is your DOF. Unless you run manual and are happy to play around with setting all day, ... Show More

Great little camera
I use this for quickie broll footage. It does fine in most situations, but low light can get a little grainy in 4K. All told, tough to beat at this price.

Fantastic camera
First of all I would like to start of by saying that this camera is everything I've been looking for and more. The video quality is remarkable. The size of the camera is also splendid, it's light weight and easy to handle. Speaking of handles, the top handle with the audio unit has been very useful to getting low angle shots. Also audio quality is superb. Over all I would have to say for the price this camera is brilliant.

GY-HM170UA 4KCAM Compact Professional Camcorder
I use this camera to record high school games: lacrosse, soccer, etc. usually in a stadium so I have elevation and perspective. I'm recording games, not players. So far I'm very disappointed in the clarity of the footage. I'm using all automatic thus far, as I've only had the camera about a week. I was hoping with a $$(retail) camera and a relatively large sensor that I'd get better clarity than the Sony 580 I'd been using, but not so far. Maybe as I move into more manual control it will get better. I expect I'll sell this one after the current season and go back to a Sony or Canon.

Great camera for the price
Camera is excellent in good light and not so good in low light. I love the quality of the 4K for production studio work and green screen shoots. It's doesn't come with all the bells and whistles that more expensive cameras offer. The price makes this camera an excellent t choice for people on a budget.

The best 4k camera in this price range?
I use my camera for low budget comedy and or action drama skits done at home with minimal gear. I wanted a 4k camera for quite some time once I realized that the added flexibility to use my NLE software to zoom into close ups without the critical loss of detail that happens when you try to do such with a 1080p camera. Take a close segment of 1080p, and you end up with 590, or worse resolution. Plus forget about the black clipping. This camera com... Show More

Know exactly what you will be using this camera for.
No this is not a camera you want if you will be doing extensive low light shooting. If your not, the video reproduced by this camera is absolutely fantastic. I have the option of shooting 4K, editing in HD with the added flexibility of expanding the frame with no loss of resolution. The plastic case does not bother me, it makes it lightweight. Besides, the only reason you would not handle this camera with care is if it wasn't yours, (TV news phot... Show More

Impressive video and sound quality!
I purchased this product to record talks in a classroom setting. The video quality at full HD is very impressive. 4K is outstanding as well, if you have a monitor or TV that can display it. The dual XLR inputs allowed me to input a wireless mic system and the results were fantastic! Even in low light situations I was able to pull detail out of the shadows in post production. This video camera does very well in low light. What's great -Easy to use... Show More

Great Camera for the Price
A great price for a 4K camera but while the plastic body may seem a little cheesy it helps keep the weight down and no matter what it's made of I always treat it carefully so body material doesn't matter. I'm a little disappointed I can't seem to get it to an aperture priority mode, maybe it's just me. It produces a quality picture with a choice of many different resolutions.
