Good KVM for the money

May 20, 2012

This KVM is small and works well. It is thoughtfully designed with the number 1 and number 4 computer cable attached to the KVM and the #2 and #3 KVM separate. You plug 2 and/or 3 in if you need them and just store the cable if you don't. This reduces clutter as you don't have extra KVM cables dangling from the unit if your not using them! I gave this KVM a 4 star rating only because I have a problem using it with my Mac Mini computer. It does no... Show More

Mediocre audio and USB performance

May 9, 2012

Hooked up with 2 macs, a PC, and an XBOX. This brilliantly stupid design features audio signals sharing the same connector and/or cable with video and USB signals on KVM side, without the benefit of shielding to separate them. The predictable result is noticeable video and USB noise on the audio channels; you can actually hear your mouse clicks, rolling scroll wheels, and rustling from video frames in a browser window. Video performance is accept... Show More

From mediocre to bad

May 17, 2012

I already reviewed this product before receiving an offer to do it again after a week. This unit is now worse; mice or other pointing devices lack power - behaviour is a little awry - like only one scroll wheel working on the PC mouse, while the Mighty Mouse scroll ball does not work - even though by itself the Mighty Mouse works! Boosting power with a hub only works for the mouse port, not the keyboard. The keyboard special key sequences to swit... Show More

Good Product, Works Well

Feb 1, 2010

I bought this machine because I have an older PS2 mouse/keyboard KVM switch that turned out not to be Linux compatible, and this was the only such unit that I could find a recommendation for with Linux. It works very well; it is currently running with one Unix and two Linux machines. I also like the switched audio feature; it lets me drive a receiver and better speaker system from all three systems. One downside is that one machine doesn't load t... Show More

Solid KVM

Sep 18, 2009

I'm an IT professional and am fairly critical about making new purchases and the items operating correctly and as advertised, and this IoGear USB KVM certainly does both. I've used this KVM with 4 workstations (3 windows, 1 linux) for about a month and have had none of the problems you would expect to find on lesser and cheaper KVMs. Pros: No lock-ups, switches instantly after hotkey combination is entered, various hotkey combinations available, ... A++ AWEsome equipment I would buy again!

How you use the product: I use it for my multiple desktops I want to network and simplify the uses for them, which this product is fantastic for! I use it to network my printer and fix clients computers which makes this a great tool for that. Things that are great about it: 4 connections is perfect for connecting 4 computers. I was able to use on of the cables to hook up my one monitor to the KVM, not needing to unhook any monitor VGA cables I wa... Show More

MiniView 4-Port USB KVM Switch

This MiniView is great. It works on my old 2000 Compaq with Win-Me and Xp. It also is working with my 2009 ACER with VISTA and my new 2010 Compaq with Widows 7-64. {Note: all three Computers are AMD} The best thing I like about The MiniView is at the end of the day when I shut down my Vista and the next day when I start up my Windows 7-64 it will automatically switch the monitor with out any help from me. MiniView 4-Port USB KVM Switch Flawless

Sep 26, 2011

I ordered this as a replacement for an older KVM that did not support USB, but instead had the DIN connectors. This new switch works perfectly with the ThinkPad keyboard with build in TrackPoint (a small joystick type mouse in the keyboard so you can keep your hands on home row while typing and still use the mouse). I've got two laptops and two desktops connected. I particularly liked the ability to switch the keyboard and monitor while chosing t... Show More

Works well without hassles

Dec 28, 2011

Highly recommended & this one replaces an IO Gear 2 port KVM switch in place for years without problems. Using with 3 boxes (7 Pro, XP Pro & Ubuntu/Mint Linux) and no problems switching between all 3. I keep the 4th port open for testing/working with strays that need repairs & like the flexibility. It skips that open port when not hooked up which is really convenient. One added bonus discovered by accident was that when I need only one box the sw... Show More

Works As Advertised

May 10, 2010

Using this with a (MacBook Pro, PC Desktop (dual boot W7 & OSX), Mac Desktop, and a Q-See DVR). Hot Key switching between setups works as advertised. My Kensington Trackball Pro and the Keyboard will not control the Q-See Dvr once switched over, but that doesn't have anything to do with the KVM switch (at least I can still view the cameras. Mac users be sure to read the directions to switch the hot key for the Mac keyboard Ctrl key, then follow the normal directions for monitor switching. I also added some 6ft VGA and USB extension cables to keep my computers outside my studio.

Awesome Gear

Oct 1, 2008

I have purchased KVM gear before, but nothing has ever worked, until I purchased the Iogear KVM switch. It is easy to set up and easy to use. I am using this product to switch between (4) computers in my video control room and I have to say that I wish I would have bought this switch the first time around. Just make sure you have a USB Keyboard and Mouse and this product will be the last KVM you will ever purchase. Also no software to download or install, your computer will automatically notice the switch and work from there.

flawless except if a laptops usb port powers down. simply get a hub to supply constant power, or turn off power saving features on laptops. The Real Deal. Didn't know one existed. Bought 2 KVM's to switch between 8 pcs. 1-2 seconds between switching, sometimes it's only 1/2 a second. It's totally hardware independant how fast's the switch. Saves me money and time. Works well regardless how many pc's are attached. No problems drawing enough power from USB. No hanging up hitting esc key doesnt fix.

Awesome KVM

Apr 1, 2011

I use the KVM with a Lenvo Enhanced USB keyboard and Lenovo Scroopoint mouse for 3 laptops in docks and one desktop. This model works great with the Multi Media keyboard keys as well as full Scrollpoint mouse functionality (including driver sensing the mouse). The only issue I've seen to date is that occasionally Windows XP has an error detecting the mouse on docking of the laptop. Easily corrected by simply switching the KVM to another machine and right back again.

KVM

Feb 7, 2010

It works really well switches from PC to PC easily. Did not have any issues hooking up or learning how to use. I would recommend to anyone using a KVM. Only issue I sawas was sometimes a clicking noises comes from the speakers that is shared amongst all. My buddy and I actually bought one and we are both experiencing the same issue. It does not affect quality when it sound is coming through speakers. I would recommend this product to anyone.

What could be easier?

Feb 3, 2009

The headline says it all. What could be easier? You hook it up. It works. It powers itself from the USB. It lets you detach up to two sets of cables if you don't need them reducing clutter. I love it. I'm using a Mac keyboard because I like the feel of it and the instructions explain how to hook it up. What could be easier? Has worked on every computer I've hooked up to it.

Works great ... fully met my home needs

Sep 16, 2009

I was very happy with how this product allowed me to switch between all my home PCs. There is one un-published installation instruction new users need to know. The keyboard USB must be plugged into the left most USB port. Otherwise the product will initially appear not to work. The IOGEAR helpdesk admits this should have been included in their setup / install pamphlet.

Best KVM

Jul 20, 2011

This is currently the BEST KVM on the Market for two reasons (Size & Flexible Cables) I have used other major brand KVM whose cable are Bulky & Stiff hence they don't stay in the place/position you want it to be. I would have given it 5 stars if it had one extra USB port to share ( like a web Cam). Other than this, this a very Fine KVM.

No setup, no software to install, connect each set of cable for each PC and ready to switch by typing scroll-lock, scroll-lock, 1 or 2 or 3 or 4, and enter. So simple to use.

The Big Switch

Apr 14, 2010

MiniView switch works great and is very reliable. This product replaced a ps2 based KVM switch, which didn't work as well on newer PCs with USB connections only. The sound feature of the MiniView wasn't useful to me, as you can get sound from only one connected PC at a time.

This device is used on the workbench to switch between 4 computers. It's convenient hot key operation and reliablity make it a repeat purchase for me. I've never used the audio, so I can't say how good or bad it is. I do know that the USB KVM functionality is flawless.

Oct 12, 2011

Fast switching is great. Love the ability to change just video/mouse/keyboard, while leaving audio at current input. Great price! Doesn't work with Logitech's K350 keyboard for switching between inputs, so I had to buy a separate USB keyboard.
