The Mavic Pro is deceptively small. Looking at the back pack, which I thought was a full size one, but it is actually much smaller than I expected. Very disappointed in set up procedures
I was greatly disappointed in the set up procedure. 1st, Instructions were darn near microscopic to try and read. Received a separate book with each component, so needed to jump back and forth from the drone book to the controller booklet. . Couldn't operate the unit until the controller was synced to the drone. A joy to fly for fun or profit.
I've owned the Phantom 2, Phantom 3 (two of these), Phantom 4 and the Mavic. What's truly amazing is that the more complicated these drones have become the easier they are to fly. This doesn't mean you should just unbox it and fly though. Take your time, small steps and be safe. As my first drone this is incredibly easy to fly and to learn with. I love how small it is and easy to travel / transport. The fly more combo comes with everything I needed to get started and keep flying. Controls are compact too. I like the sensitivity is programmable. The drone is great. Imagery is really incredible for such a small profile. Ive only shot video, no stills so cant speak to the raw, but paired with some ND filters for sunny days, the footage is pretty impressive. It isnt as plug and play as youd expect. Better than French Toast!?
I switched from the Phantom 4 to the Mavic Pro. The quality of the mavic pro in general is about 90% as good as the P4. The Video quality is good. Suffers a little in low light and overall it doesn't fly quit as smooth as the P4. But that being said If I was giving the option to switch from the P4 to the Mavic again I would in a heartbeat. I have owned DJI drones since the phantom 3, then the phantom 4 now the mavic. The reasons for me selling my phantom 4 and buying the mavic are obvious; Portability. Nothing like a drone that fits in my camera bag along with 2 camera bodies and a few lenses. Amazing technology
Finally got my Mavic in early January after placing my order at the end of October. It is my first drone so it took a while to get used to the interface in the app. It's nice to have an iPhone 7plus with a large screen for viewing in flight. I did a lot of research before purchasing the Mavic Pro. I am very impressed with the quality of both the photos and videos that it captures. I'm most impressed by the stabilization. I've been a DJI customer for several years, and the Mavic is my third (and favorite) drone purchase. I use this drone from our sailboat to take some fatanstic video and photos. I've only flow the Mavic twice since I received it but given what it is, I am very impressed. My main bird is a DJI Inspire 2 that I use for commercial projects along with a Phantom 3 I use for interior work. The Mavic is mostly for fun and travel as the Inspire and Phantom are large and bulky to lug around. Great aerial platform. The weight of it makes me hesitant to call it pro but the build quality is excellent. It was fun until it disconnected and disappeared during RTH
It well for a few flights. Then it disappeared. I only had one issued that bugged me while the drone was still working. Every time the drone would face towards the sun it would detect a non existent item in front of it and stop. It got really annoying especially when it interrupted the return to home function. Firmware Nightmare
The Mavic itself is fantastic - when it works. After waiting almost two and a half months (Ordered on Sept28 and received on December 8) I was able to use it for approximately an hour. After a few quick flights, I was alerted that I needed to do a series of firmware updates. I did that, and quickly received an error. There is a drone simulator built into the app and drone that lets you fly a simulation of the Mavic to get a feel for it. I tried to use the sim before I bought the Mavic but you require real hardware (the actual drone, not just the controller) to run the sim. I was VERY disappointed with the sim. Magic Lives Up to the Billing
This kit and Mavic drone live up to it's billing. Once you watch a few tutorials (FLYTpath.com is a good one), flying it is SO much better than flying the earlier DJI drones. B&H did a great job shipping the product. Arrived on time and nicely packed. The Mavic Pro has been an incredible drone. I've flown smaller ones in the house so I was somewhat familiar with the controls, but the Mavic can do so much more.
