These are as hard as hen's teeth to come by. The goal is to balance the lens & camera so that the gimbal meets as little resistance as possible to keep the camera stable. My view is that this saves battery life. In any event on my X5 (not X5S) I find the camera and Panasonic 15mm to be back heavy, and that it needs approximately 30 grams of weight to balance the up/down axis. None of the ads describe the hood coming with it. Most pictures show hood & ring. My hood broke from a crash & you can't find just the hood ;)
