Good value, good performance

Dec 28, 2009

I use this wireless mic with my Sony HVR-A1U with good results with the talent fairly close to the camera. It works very well up to at least 50 feet. I have used it at distances up to about 150 feet, but it works at those distances only in a sweet spot--moving causes the signal to fade in and out. It's best to avoid moving the plug from the mic to the transmitter around--it can cause scratchy noise. All in all a good price/performance ratio.

Decent Tech for a great price.

Dec 22, 2009

This microphone is great for corporate/wedding/seminar type applications. It has decent range about 50 yards probably. I did get a few hits that were unexplainable but nothing to urge me to return the unit. I would buy a second one if I needed to, but on big shows I'll still be hiring a mixer with Pro gear.

Quality Lavalier Mic

Very happy to have it and have tested it out with great results. I am looking for putting it to the test so I can better know the limitations but am very pleased thus far. Simple to use and great value for the money. Might just buy a second just because you never know when it might come in handy. Thanks B&H!

Great setup - does the trick!

Dec 14, 2009

I purchased this system to do interviews ... use it with my Canon HV30. It's a piece of cake to use and I haven't had any problems with it. The audio is great and I've been really pleased with it. I was a little worried, because the price was so reasonable compared to other systems I looked at, but the reviews I read were all good ... and that's been my experience with it so far. No complaints here! A great system for a great price!

Great Solution for modest price

Dec 9, 2009

My greatest concern was sound quality given the modest price but it was as good as a wired mike for the 20 foot distance I most shoot at. The receiver unit fits well in my lighting shoe and the flex antenna is easy to move around. The lav mike and transmitter are easy to wear and operate. I used the system in a stage setting with lots of lighting and other wireless equipment which worried me a bit for interference - but there was none at all. The monitoring ear jack was great to give me confidence the sound was being recorded well. I would definitely recommend this system.

Not for the professional

Dec 7, 2009

lightweight, easy to use, but receiver needs to be close to transmiter with nothing betweeen to get clean clear audio. ok for the low end presentation where you can place the trans near the rec but any other kind of moving picture stuff needs higher end gear. got buzz when person wearing trans touched a screen door.....

Pro 88W - Camera Mountable VHF Lavalier

Oct 25, 2009

Affordable option for capturing quality audio using a prosumer camcorder. Too new to comment on durability, it has so far done everything I hoped for. Easy to use right away (and I'm no genius, believe me!). Don't quite see why some have reported dissatisfaction with them.

Very Lightweight. Plastic cases scare me somewhat. The range is perfect for our studio, outside is even better. Good starter system and I don't have to worry about my losing too much if my students break them

Excellence that's affordable

Sep 29, 2009

After looking at many different models and being discouraged by most of them, I was finally directed toward the Technica Pro 88W wireless lav and receiver. I was skeptical of the price, after seeing so many other wireless sets often in the $1,000s, but did the research and trusted a close friend's opinion. I snagged it up and used the set in a shoot the weekend I received it in the mail. I couldn't be happier. It has clear reception, ease of use ... Show More

the only negative side to this so far is, my camera records a weird ticking sound in the audio, but im pretty sure its the camera and not the mic. overall, excellent system.

Good Sound Quality and Easy to Use

Aug 28, 2009

This wireless mic system is very easy to operate and provides good sound quality to enhance the use of a video camera. I use with a Canon VIXIA HFS-100 HD Camcorder, mostly for interview-type situations for corporate videos.

Quality Audio Without Cords

Jul 28, 2009

Excellent audio quality. I use it with a Canon HF-200 HD video camera for video interviews. Great isolation from surrounding noise. Comes with all the cords needed to connect to a video camera as well as some velcro strips so you can attached the receiver to a camera or tripod. Even though this is a mono device the output cable uses a stereo mini jack so audio is captured to left and right tracks on stereo gear. Easy to setup and use.

I bought this product only to try it but since I keep using it. But to have a better performance you gonna have to try to keep it far from the camera censor and you will not have to hear some mice scratches

No problems so far!

Mar 27, 2009

This is my first wireless mic purchase for video, and I must say I've been very pleased. My primary application is using this mic for sports commentators. The camera is placed at half field/court and my commentators can be doing play-by-play commentary from anywhere in the area. I've had very minimal trouble with interference, I've actually only heard a slight hiss once and I just moved the antenna and it went away immediately. I use a simple splitter, along with two ATR35s lapels - one clipped to each commentator and it works great - good mix of voice and ambient/crowd noise. No complaints!

Buying my third PRO-88W system today

Mar 11, 2009

Is this the best wireless lav mic set in the world? No. Is it plenty good enough for short-range interviews (within 30 feet of my lens) and other voice recording? Totally. I own a spendy UHF wireless lav set that is not only about to be made obsolete by the FCC, but is also so delicate that I'm afraid to use it on most of my news or low-cost commercial shoots for fear of it getting damaged. So I'm now buying a third (essentially backup) Pro-88W s... Show More

Seems Fine--as long as there is no noise

Oct 13, 2008

You can only switch between two channels on these, so if there's noise on one, you only have the other. I also noticed it was picking up a lot of camera, zoom motor noise, but this may have to do with the 3.5mm to XLR output cable I got for it. My XLR inputs are fine for my shotgun mics, but this one cable generates a lot of noise--unless its some sort of frequency interference with the lav receiver I have mounted on my ag-dvx100b

Jul 19, 2008

the sound quality is great for a wireless mic in this price range. I just finished using it 4 the first time at a gig with out any hic cups.It is best to monitor threw your camera's headphone out and not threw the AT trnsmitter's monitor jack.this will limit any sound distortion. Alway control the volume from the camera.
