Bad discs OR bad drive??
Half the discs I put into this drive make a crunch sound and then automatically eject?! At first I thought it could be a bad disc...but now, I'm thinking a bad drive??

Only 18 months old and already quit working!
I have only had this for 18 months and it doesn't get real heavy use. I just burned CDs & DVDs the other day. I am using the same ones and now today it keeps saying it can't burn because of an unexpected error. I did a search online and it looks like this is a common problem, but Apple doesn't seem to do anything about it. Very frustrating.

Apple Warlords Stick it to Customers
I hate Apple computers and regret I bought one. They blocked the use of this device except for Mac Pro made in 2013. I somehow missed that incompatibility requirement. I am sure I read it was compatible with Mac Pro computers and no asterisk exceptions. There is no valid reason to block the optical drive.

Great piece of equipment.
A snap to install on my 2017 iMac 27. Plays cds,dvds and makes slide shows and data disks as well as music cds. Love it!

It just works.
I purchased this optical drive to use with a new iMac 5K 27-inch Retina (2017) machine. Only 8X burning
Nowhere on the product description does it say the write speed. It didn't even occur to me to check until I tried burning a disk. Useless as a burner honestly. You're better off finding a way cheaper faster option.

Apple Superdrive and newer MacBooks
The Superdrive is an effective, durable multipurpose drive that works well on all Mac's. The only issue I found is that it requires a USB adaptor for newer MacBooks with the USB-C connections. The adaptor is cheap enough but don't forget it! The drive requires power so it may not work on a USB hub in an unpowered socket. I recommend planning to use the drive in a direct connection to the Mac to ensure power.

Cool little drive.
This drive is tiny, and is beautifully designed as all Apple products are. Even the packaging is fit to save for another purpose. And of course, it does what it's supposed to do too-although it sure would be nice if computers still came with DVD drives built in!

Slim design, fast writing speeds
This is a great, sleek drive, perfect for laptops too. My only concern/issue is that the attached usb cable is short. You may need to keep the drive close to the ports.

Good for what it is.
My previous Apple USB Superdrive broke after just three years of light use. I'm hoping this one lasts longer. I did notice that improvements in the device were made since then. It's much quieter, and seems a little faster.

Perfect with a caveat
The Superdrive is a great add-on for your MacBook. The caveat is that I had issues with giving it enough power to operate when connected through a USB hub, even with a 'double-headed' USB that is supposed to provide more power to the port. I also wish they would have a USB-C version so I wouldn't have to use a USB-C adapter.

Works like a charm.
Still need CD/DVD's from time to time. Traded in my old iMac which had the drive in it for a new iMac. Apple for Apple. Can't beat it. And reasonably priced too!

yes recommend to buy
I used my product for burning CD/DVD. However, apply should have a plubnplay like windows to view files, photos from CD which it lakes. overall great product. Had some difficulties to start and find on Mac. its works fine and great device.

It works fine and looks nice.
Works fine. The only disadvantage is that it has a very short cable. And since Apple hasn't updated this drive (and probably won't), it has a USB-A plug not a USB-C plug, which the new Macs require. So you have to stick an adapter on it.

Apple's USB Super Drive
Recently purchased a new iMac. My wife and I needed to burn a CD of some music for a party we were attending. Since the iMac did not have a CD/DVD burner or drive, we were at a loss as to what to do to capture several songs for the party. For a modest price we were pleased with the USB Super Drive both for the current transfer of music and as an extra drive for any future iMacs or MacBook Pro's we might purchase in future years. Worked fine and are satisfied with our purchase.

Light and portable
I've had this for 2 weeks and no problems. It's very light and portable. The picture makes it look larger than it is. It's a little bigger than a DVD It plugs in and starts up. Very easy to use.

Received my external CD/DVD USB SuperDrive quickly and packaged just fine. Just one usb3 connection and it was alive when disc entered. No messing with third party apps, works great when its Apple to Apple. B&H great to buy from and the price is always on target.

does what it is supposed to do
wish they would come out with a Blu-Ray version, but it does what it is supposed to do. I also wish they had an eject button on the drive since the new MacBook Pro doesn't have an eject button either....I know I can use the two finger approach, but prefer to have a dedicated button for that....
