I wish this capsule and the XY came in a kit with the H6 because it would be killer from the start. The included M/S capsule sounds fantastic, especially for ambient recordings with a vivid stereo image, but the SSH-6 really knocks it out of the park. I haven't tested it against the SGH-6 mono shotgun, but all the reviews and videos comparing them said just get the SSH-6. I am glad I finally did! It's not an MKH416, but it sounds fantastic if you just want to grab some run-n-gun dialogue (with adjustable side ambiance!). Included dead is pretty pathetic unfortunately. It does reduce wind noise (at least when I blew on it), but it attached using two small bungee loops that are meant to loop around the capsule release buttons. I don't find this method secures it very well, and it partially obscures the gain dial, so I may modify a Movo or similar foam & fur windscreen to slide over the whole thing with a notch to access the dial. That's my only gripe so far! If you have the Zoom H6 then I cannot recommend this capsule enough. ... More

I use this product for on-the-go video production while shooting interviews and live speaking engagements. I love how it works with the h5, so intuitive! It gets amazing sound quality and the controls are great. The only reasons I did not give it a 5 star is because I wish it isolated sound just a little better when it's in directional shot-gun mode, and I also wish it was not so bulky. It would be great if they made a smaller version of this.

I've only had this mic for a few weeks now, but have used it alot in this short time. I shoot video documentaries, and artist bio's and it is great picking up ambient sounds in their studios; etc. mixing paint, the rustling of paper, and scraping of palette knives on canvas. The mid-level balance option is great to give more of an overall feel of the room, instead of a narrow, selected focused pickup. I use it with the Zoom H6 and put it on a Manfrotto PIXI Mini Table Top Tripod. So far... this is a great addition to the other attachable microphone options for the H6. ... More

I purchased this as another option for capturing live guitar + vocals in intimate environments. Both the standard H6 X-Y mic and this sound great but in different ways and I now quite prefer the sound of this because 1) it creates a more intimate/present focus of the vocal and guitar, 2) you have better control of voc/guitar balance by judicious aiming of the mic, and 3) you can determine the mix of mid/side and therefore stereo spread in post production (like any mic/side mic). In contrast, I find the X-Y mic pleasant but the stereo field is a bit more disperse. Pleasant, but not the same as how the real world sounds if you're 6 feet in front of a performer. ... More

Great shotgun style mic for interviews and stuff. I did have some trouble figuring out how to adjust the ambiance of the side mics to a degree that I could end up separating the signals later in post, but for now, I'm a happy camper.

So far the shotgun mic works very well with both my H6 and H5 Zoom recorders. I have not found anything wrong with this shotgun mic so far. The audio recorded has been fantastic. Just what I have been looking for in audio recording for my video production work. Great product and great price from B&H. Great service from B&H as always. The SSH-6 by Zoom is a perfect fit.

This is an amazing microphone, it works well with my Zoom H5. Picks up great audio as a shotgun mic and as well as a left and right channel and you can combine them as well to have a totally different turnout. Best purchase I've made.

I use this with the Q* video recorder as a room mic for interviews and live band shoots. It works great for what I need, is very portable and affordable. Thumbs up, happy dance and all that...

The noise in this microphone is very high and noticeable If you will step 1 meter away from the microphone the sound becomes almost useless. You need to be really very close to that microphone to get decent sound. Its acceptable considering the price though.

I'm sad id doesn't fit the pelican-alike suitcase I bought for my H6. Great sound, design and presence.

Nice little stereo shotgun for the price. Frequency response is full and it's a nice addition to my H6 recorder.
