I am quite happy with the Zoom H5 and SGH-6 shotgun mic combination. I use them in the field for recording bird sounds. Their compact and integrated design makes it easier for me to carry and use them in the field along with other equipment such as cameras, spotting scope, and binoculars. My current challenge is to find a decent case for them which I can attach to my camera/binocular harness. The Zoom case for the H5 does not accommodate the length of the SGH-6, just the basic mic. While I may not be able to achieve the distance I might like with a parabolic mic, this combination is a good compromise considering the reasonable cost, compact size, and the light weight. ... More

We use this unit simultaneously with lavs as a back-up, and to mix in a bit of ambience if needed. What's great about the H6 is all those inputs, and this module does not take up any of the 4 other channels, it lays down a discreet track. You can use it as a primary mic but keep it close or the signal will be weak.

I love my ZOOM H6. I was shooting some red carpet interviews and shooting over the shoulders of other video guys from the networks. The sound was ok using the XY Microphone Module but I thought that the shotgun module would work even better..so I bought it. I used it today for a press preview of American Idiot were 15 singers onstage were miked and I was about 20 feet away with my GH3 and H6. I must say that the sound came out very bright, a little too bright. Maybe there are setting on the H6 to adjust that, but I don't know. Maybe I could fix it in Audition, but I haven't had time to find out. I am keeping the shotgun anyway just incase I need it in the future. ... More

Works okay but not the greatest boom from further distances. Works okay mounted directly on top of a camera with less handling noise than the other two included H6 mics. Seems to be a great mic for closer distances and mounted on a stagnant tripod. It can be a great tool as long as you are aware of its strengths and weaknesses

Superb mic that makes the H5 a great recording device. Only thing missing is a protective cover which could protect this device when not in use. The base recording unit H5 does have its own plastic container.

It sounds great on the H6. I had to camera mount it (BMCC) and my only complaint is that the fuzzy sock gets in the way of the lens at times. It would be better if their were multiple mounting points on the back of the H6 to scoot it back a little away from the lens. I wish it could do a -15db recording backup to channels 1-4 instead of just the LR input.

I was surprised by this mic's quality. Upon listening to it though headphones attached to the h6, it sounded like there was a rather high noise floor. But upon inspecting it on my computer it was clean as a bell. Great unit.

I have been using the SGH-6 shotgun capsule on my Zoom H5N. The audio is clear and it allows me to keep all of my audio equipment on my DSLR rig. I like the mobility and versatility it provides. I would highly recommend this mic for anyone using a H5N or H6.

The H4 is great, but why not spend a little extra and get the H5 since it can accept attachments? For documentary work this is totally worth it.

I like this. It's a really nice option when you have all four xlr ports taken and would like an insurance mic. It isn't the greatest shotgun but it is an ingenious accessory for videographers and filmaker a with a budget.

Yes is working but this is not high quality shotgun microphone. But for this price is just OK

This is a total must have attachment if you have a Zoom H6. I was very excited when it delivered the day before I had to shoot a big wedding, and it capture some great audio, and very memorable moments. Very clear, clean directional sound.

Firstly...the H5 zoom is amazing device. I purchased it for audio for my Go PRO's (i have four) and it really helps my videos. But this shotgun mic works very good...for the price point. A must for ZOOM 5 or 5 owners....

This is a great mic to add to your H5 arsenal but I was dissapointed in the amount of background noise this picked up even when adjusting on the H5. Not as directional as I would like, still picking up more ambience than I would like.

This thing is great! The windscreen is essential for anything outdoors as the slightest breeze will distort without. The low noise floor of the H6 allows you to crank this thing!

This is a nice, neutral shotgun mic. I don't have another one to compare to, but it sounds neutral with good off-axis rejection. I'll be using this for location interviews.

Maybe a tad expensive BUT it works amazingly well and extremely convenient. The convenience is what makes it worth every cent.
