After running across this mic in an advert, I realized that I had numerous good mics but none were tube. I was very skeptical at first and no fan of wasting money on a mic that makes promises but can't deliver in a real world application. I was very pleasantly surprised after running this mic through its paces in the studio. It is very accurate but not harsh like some of the fet mics that we have which cost more. I am currently using this mic in the vox booth and it has taken the sound of the recordings to a level several steps higher. I, in my forty years, have used world class mics and this 47 is in that league. If you can, get this mic in your locker. You will not be disappointed. I will update this review as we use the WA-47 in different apps while making recordings for clients and our personal use. Mark Jackson Knotty Pine Studios, LLC ... More

Had this about a week now so this is just a quick comment. It's heavy... feels solidly built... I have a baritone voice but it still makes me sound better, very warm with no eq... really worked well on a girl I know who sang while her husband played guitar (kind of a mix of folk and church songs they wrote)...no eq either... all I got so far, but can't go wrong with this Warm WA-47.

I purchased the Warm audio WA47 Tube microphone going on reviews I have been reading I thought I want one. I opened the box microphone looks well-made big and heavy I left I put the mic on the stand, left it for some time to acclimatize. Connected the xlr leads to my red 7 pre turned it on and straight away i heard a low end rumble that was very loud I engaged a low cut filter that was around 150hz before I could get rig of it then your lows are gone!! I took the microphone off the stand, waited for it to cool down and put it back in the packaging and sent it back. That's my experience with this microphone. I can't see how the manufactures can send a microphone out from the factory like this, I can only assume QC is bad. After doing more research, I found others having the same problem with this microphone, I only wish I would have read this before I went ahead and purchased it. I have purchased a TLM49, and I'm loving it, awesome microphone ... More

There are a lot of good reviews of this microphone &, honestly, I was skeptical. Yeah, it sounded good on the videos I had seen, but who knew how much it could have been processed. The Neumann TLM 103 microphone before I purchased this was good. I used it for rap/r&b vocals, but the high end boost left it sounding brittle or thin when I would add some colour with a 1073. On male vocals the Warm Audio's 47 is smooth with nothing but a preamp; Adding FX only makes it sound silkier. I have heard some people complain about the shockmount being loose on the mic, but I have mine hanging upside down and it's no issue at all. If you're thinking about getting this mic just do it. You won't regret it. ... More

This was my first tube mic, purchased mainly for vocals and Acoustic guitar. It is taking the place of a Blue Dragonfly, which deserves admiration, but having this 47 is like a sunrise showing all the colors we could have been seeing. Im afraid many other mics will be gathering dust for a while till I get over the way this mic sounds. The only drawback we experienced was with some oversight in shipping, misjudging how fragile the power supply can be. Our first unit, purchased used here, had a minor issue where the power supply light would only turn on if the box was held at an angle. I decided not to take any risks that other components inside might be compromised, ate the return shipping, and purchased a new unit the same day. *Sellers- wrap up the power supply real good!

After letting it warm up for an hour I sang into it for the first time and the tones it captured (through a UAD Neve preamp) brought a tear to my eye. It's like this mic was made just for me; I've never sounded better. It's great on my jumbo Guild acoustic, too. I'm looking forward to putting this mic through the paces in the studio over the next few months. Packaging is great. Build quality is great. Tone and character is amazing. On one hand I feel like I don't need any more mics in my collection after this, but on the other hand I'm really curious to check out more of Warm Audio's products... I think maybe another mic or two and some rack gear wouldn't hurt. ... More

This is the best microphone I've found so far for my voice. I'm not really a very good singer but the WA-47 makes it sound better than it should. I've used Neumanns, AKGs and even RCA ribbons. The RCA 77DX was good but the WA-47 is better - at least for my voice. Combine it with the 77DX and it's the best acoustic guitar sound I've achieved so far in an untreated room. Like the title says, I'm glad I bought it.

This is one of the more expensive microphones I purchased with my recent studio upgrade. I don’t care if you’re using a kazoo or singing through it or micing an acoustic Guitar or micing up a 4x12 cabinet it sounds incredible! Well built very sturdy and the sound is incredible!

First of all, on vocals, yes, it is THAT good. If you can't spend the price of a car on a mic, this is THE ONE. Killer on acoustic guitar too. But it's more than that. The 9 polar patterns are really useful. I've already used multiple positions at different times for different sources/situations. No issues with the shock mount either. The mic is VERY heavy, so if this is your first tube mic, be prepared, you will need a heavy duty stand.

I've been singing professionally for years and have recorded through a lot of mics from different brands and models and price ranges. This mic can't be beat, especially at this price. It is clear and has a warm tone that is hard to find in other mics. It is by far my favorite recording mic.

It's big and beefy, and it sounds that way, too. Is it dead on to a real vintage 47? No clue, but I like this mic a lot. It basically makes stuff sound big. I use it mostly for vocals and acoustic guitar, into a DAW or into an old Tascam 4-Track tape deck. I wouldn't call it a subtle mic, but that's what I like about it.

I've used a vintage 47, a flea 47 plus a few others I don't remember and you will not find a better deal at this price point. The wa-47 sounds just as rich and dynamic. I could never afford the others, so I'm grateful to have such a fine option.

I did a good bit of research and am glad I decided on the Warm Audio WA-47 tube microphone. Great addition for my home studio. I'm using it for both music production and voice over. Interfacing with ART Voice Channel. Love the rich smooth sound. No limitations, complaints or areas for improvement.
