Tested in my studio with my voice as the source. The hiss level was greater than the signal at distances more than 2 feet. I could not get a usable signal, so I returned it same day I received it.

I am using this shotgun mic for my antibully film. The sound is coming out very well. It's a nice inexpensive shotgun mic that can get the job done for you on small to mid size projects.

Bought the mic because I run a Cabaret space and we video our shows the mic plugs directly into the camera giving me a nice even sound. Would be great if it had on on indicator but not necessary. I am very happy with my purchase.

In all sincerity I not expecting much definition. If the VST effect is used to enhance the frequency range we have a result that simply has nothing to do with the built-in microphone of a Dslr camera. Maybe use it with a pole is more interesting than attached to a camera because if you toutch the tripod head you with ear it on the audio track.

I haven't used this a lot yet, but the sound is decent. As long as it doesn't break anytime soon, it's a great mic for the money you pay. The XLR that comes with the kit is almost excessively long, and hard to get back into the case.

MIC HAS GREAT PICK UP RESPONSE, I USED IT WITH A XLR PLUG IN WIRELLESS TRANSMITTER WITH RECEIVER AT MY VIDEO CAMERA, THE AUDIO IS CLEAR , IF YOU HEAR IT PICK UP TOO MUCH NOICE IS BECAUSE YOU ARE IN A NOICE ENVIROMENT, USE THE VOLUMEN CONTROL IN YOUR CAMERA TO AVOID THIS. I RECOMEND IT

I like the mic. It's pretty good. It works fine. The only downside is that it is pretty long and sticks out a fair bit. You have to work at it to not be visible of you do anything at a wider angle.

I had bought a Microphone kit XM88, but I really feel disappoint about the product quality!! It has a very very very big problem and make me can't use it totally. One of the XLR pin is didn't get finishing. No any cable can plug the mic now

Get the $40 version of this that is only battery operated with tele. It only has the 1/8th plug on the lesser priced mic, but that one has more of an even tone. This on is going back.

I have had both the XM-55 and XM-88 and used them for documentary work. I gotta say, both are great and a really cost effective solution with all the necessary accessories for ENG style recording.

Only used it for one shoot so far. It sounded a bit tinny, and I haven't shot with the low-pass filter off to see how pervasive the problem is. Can't beat the price though!
