Sounds great but some caveats

If you’re looking for a single unit solution this is probably not the best choice. It assumes one would probably already have a lot of studio gear or be willing to buy accessories. For example, there is only 1 pair of monitor outputs, so if you want multiple references or a surround setup you need to buy a dsub, and of course the same for running out to external gear and patching. This is not a big problem on its own, and I was willing to work around that caveat, as well as a few others. The thing that I found a complete surprise was there not being any apps for remote control from another device. Maybe I’m crazy, but doesn’t every single other manufacturer have some kind of remote app for at least monitoring input levels? I didn’t give it a single thought because it would seem obvious, especially being that unlike other interfaces, the input gain for the preamps is software controlled, so there’s even MORE justification for the feature. It’s probably the main reason I bought it, so I could set levels on drum mics without needing to move from the kit. It didn’t even cross my mind it would be something I would need to look up prior to purchasing. I researched everything else and it barely came out on top in my comparison shopping and now that I know this it definitely wouldn’t have. Then to discover they have apps for their pedals, and now they’re releasing a service for native plugins so it seems the devs should be able to do this easily. I can’t fathom their mentality on this. Am I missing something? Either way, the quality is great and I love the Plexi plugin, and there are a lot of great plugins. For some reason the DSP will still use CPU so I don’t get that, seems to negate it’s entire purpose. If you already have top-notch gear or a legit studio it’s probably fine, but don’t look for it as a full solution for a home studio. ... More

While this clearly states "Requires Thunderbolt 3 cable (not included)" don't make the mistake of thinking your standard USB-C cable will work, because it does not. I'm just saving you the grief from your box showing up and then you having to wait another week to use it because you didn't know the subtleties between the two cables.

This is probably one of the most significant pieces of rack mounted studio hardware to come out in the past 10 years. I bought this to replace (or supplement) my Lynx Aurora 8 AD/DA. The conversion quality is excellent. Being able to run 8 mics in through Unison pre's controlled by plugin emulations of the dopest preamps or channelstrips is so fun for me. I've been tracking everything through it, sounds great...only problem is now wanting the X16...

Putting together a rig for a year on the road. I am retiring and want to spend the next year traveling and recording. Putting lots of equipment together. This is an expensive unit, but worth every penny. Daisy Chaining it with my Apollo Twin - Plug in the cable - DONE. Plug into a mic and headphone pre. BOOM. done. I only wish the rest of my rig would come together so easily.
