Doesn't Get Better

It is imperative that you have a fully functional Thunderbolt 3 connection. It will not connect nor work efficiently without it. Comes in a nicely packaged box with the lockable power cord but surprisingly no Thunderbolt 3 cable. This UAD Apollo X4 is being used along with a UAD Octo PCI card and together they are simply flawless. I am running as many as 20 UAD plugins over several tracks and have not had any type of issues. The UAD Console program also works great at handling any post production or mastering outside your production DAW.
Not worth it, but is really good.

I don't get any difference in latency between this interface and my umc404hd. In comparison not worth it all. Works super well with Luna. I still get noticeable latency with it in pro tools even with my buffer at 32 samples. I guess it's my i5. I get absolutely zero latency in Luna though. Oh well track in Luna and mix in pro tools. Just really annoying. The plugs are a lot more like the real thing than other plugs. How they work and all that. It does sound really good and I like the features and portability. Issues when using with Windows 10

I am using this interface with Windows 10. The Thunderbolt connection is not the problem in my case, the drivers are. The support for ASIO drivers that are used for DAWs is fine, recording using Ableton is crystal clear. The issues are when recording using anything that doesn't use ASIO but instead WDM drivers. Discord, Skype, Zoom calls, etc will all sound horrible with very loud crackling and artifacts. Please be aware of the lack of support for Windows 10 before you purchase this product. Luckily for me I didn't sell my Focusrite Scarlett so I can still use that for non-music purposes, I would advise having another interface handy if you plan on using this for more than just with the UAD console or in a DAW. ... I had some ongoing frustrations with my first Apollo desktop unit: 1) Having only 2 XLR inputs was limiting, even for a one-man band like me. Lots of forced repatching and reaching behind the unit. 2) A Duo processor just wasn't enough power. I often had to think hard and strategize about using UAD plug-ins how and where I wanted, especially with a resource hog like Capitol Chambers. I hate having to bounce tracks to free up resources. My new x4 Quad gives me 4 XLRs. This lets me keep 4 XLRs all plugged in at the same time: my wireless guitar unit (Line6 Relay G10), a mono mic cable, and stereo cable for my Townsend Sphere L22. Now I never have to reach around behind the unit. The Thunderbolt 3 is faster the Firewire, and having the Quad processor means I haven't yet hit the DSP limit under normal use. A Terrific Little Unit

I use the Apollo X4 for my home (recording) studio work and I find it very adequate, versatile and well-featured for that purpose. I particularly enjoy the great variety of plug-ins available and the support from Universal Audio. Overall, the unit is very easy to use; but when needed, additional information about Apollo seems to be everywhere on the Internet if you run into a problem or unexpected complication.

I wanted to upgrade from my first generation Apollo Twin that I've had since 2014. This thing is perfect if you're not tracking too many things at once, like a full live band, but if you're at home, maybe tracking vocals and guitar, and maybe bass, it's perfect and you get those upgraded converters found in the larger more expensive units and YES, I heard an improvement in sound quality. You probably could do basic drum miking with the four inputs too.

I love the softare, the pre amps, the functionality.. I mean there's much to love with this unit. The price is worth it for dedicated engineers. It's very easy to use and the workflow that accompanies this unit makes me feel comfortably, confident, and quick when I'm working in the stuudio. I'm thankful UA makes such a powerful desk unit!

They sent me a refurbished Apollo x4 with the wrong power supply. and when i messaged them about it i got back no response. still no response to this day. maybe think twice before buying refurbished from them, or anything if that’s how their customer service is…. non existent. Thanks for NOT Helping!

Installed and running in minutes, sounds fantastic , love the unison preamp modelling option, converters and preamp sounds fantastic, hardware is very intuitive and quick to use, finally plugins are really awesome, i was lucky to get a few free additional ones with the deal offered, reverbs are rich and wide, very close to the hardware originals. it's portable as well. Love it ! 6 stars !

I really wanted to get an Apollo x6 or x8 but I sss short a couple hundred and decided to go with the x4. No regrets, it’s portable which is super handy and has 4 unison ready mic pres. Couldn’t ask for more with this interface. Just ordered an octo satellite as well. Just waiting for that to come in. Super stoked!

I have become a big fan of UA’s Apollo series, coupled with their outstanding analog emulation plugins. The x4 is a stellar piece of gear, worth every penny of the investment. I have it in a system with an x8p and x8, giving me 16 Unison mic pres and 20 UA channels total. Love having the desktop unit right in front of me for monitor control and talkback.

No interface is perfect IMO, but thanks amazing Unison preamps, UAD plugin accessibility, ADAT expandability, and really functional TB and monitor control, this little unit punches way above its price tag. Great centrepiece to any studio.

While the Apollo x4 is a well designed and made piece of gear, it apparently is still only for Apple iOS. I was hope this had changed as I found in the B&H description for Mac and Windows. BE CERTAIN this will work on your system as B&H has a strict NO RETURN policy for this item. Sigh.

I upgraded to x4 QUAD from a twin DUO and I can hear a difference in AD conversion. Much cleaner sounding. The extra mic inputs and preamps make it so there’s no need for a mixer.
