After starting with the original Apollo Twin Solo. I can’t be happier with having 8 unison preamps. I love having more dsp to go around. It’s really flexible with near zero latency tracking with plugins. Hard to not look to UAD when you can track while using plugins, a similar experience to printing eq and Dynamics to tape during the recording process. If you have been on the fence, don’t hesitate, fantastic build and design. The Apollo 8p will Totally handle tracking. I can never say enough good things about UAD. Sure I wish the plugins was closer to Waves prices, but the plugins are still worth every cent. ... More

the hardware and software are solid, I've owned it for about a year now and it hasn't glitched on me once. my favorite part of this gear is that i don't even need to start up my computer if i just want to play my synths/ guitar/ etc. i have it set where i can just flip the switch on the 8p, speakers and instrument, and thats it. practice ready convenience without altering my recording set up at all. if i do turn on my computer, the UAD console starts immediately, and any UAD effects ive inserted or levels ive set are already synced and saved from last time. the convenience has been a work flow game changer, especially for fleshing out quick sudden ideas. obviously i think the sound quality / low latency, etc are great, i just thought id share something different ... Other reviews I have read about this interface have complained that the I/O capabilities are lacking on this device. For me, the project studio owner who runs a couple sets of monitors and a headphone amp, I/O is not an issue. I don't have a lot of outboard gear; in fact, I purchased this because it offered eight Unison preamps which allow me to bypass the purchase of many coveted outboard pieces. The eight Unison setup has taken my sound to a whole new level as I now have a series of classic preamp and mix options on the front end. Moveover, this interface integrates seamlessly with my Audient ASP 880 via ADAT. If you are invested in UAD plug ins, and you are looking to build an efficient workflow around their hardware, this will be a fine choice. ... More

Simply the best digital recording platform on the planet at this time. Not only are the built in preamps great and ultra clean but you now have access to all UA plugs which are just insanely good. Also, because the unit processes its own DSP internally, that frees up your computer's RAM for other tasks like running non UA plugs in your DAW. That translates to zero latency while recording which makes for the most natural sounding recording situation imaginable. I've been using Apollos for years and just bought my third one. If you’ve heard good things you haven’t heard nothing yet. The only con I think of is antelope offers reamp outs on their platform, if UAD did that they wouldn’t be topped ever. Unison tech is outstanding, so is customer service. On top of that the expandability is unbeatable as well as the sound and build quality.

Bought an Apollo x8p and fell in love with the Unison preamps and plugins. I was ADAT-ing it with my Apogee Ensemble for extra preamps, not sure whether to keep the Ensemble. Decided to buy a used Apollo 8p and sell the Ensemble. I now have 16 Unison preamps for drums and whatever . Very happy with my decision, and I really believe my overall sound is better. Having a ball!
