Used with a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro running OS10.12.1 (w/16GB memory) and Logic Pro X (10.2.4). So far it has been flawless. Download the drivers from Tascam and set the MacBook Pro audio preferences (input/output) to 16x08, as well as Logic Pro X's audio settings to 16x08. When recording to the MacBook Pro, I set Logic's I/O buffer settings (audio preferences) to 128 or 256 for best results. The volume knobs are a bit small, but once they're set they usually don't need further adjustments.

i had been using echo layla for years and using the behringer ultra gain for 8 additional inputs. upgrading my system i found the 16x8 which has 16 inputs. i use cubase and reason and i am very happy with this device and the price

It works well with Sonar Platinum running on Windows10. It did take me a few tries, back and forth to the Tascam website, to get it working, as the documentation is inadequate. I have not used the mic pres yet - only a guitar, bass and a midi controller (connected to the midi port). So far I am very happy with what I got.

Work flawlessly with every type of daw software I've used so far. It plays especially nice with REAPER daw software once you set up the mix routing correctly. It's been great for capturing my old TEAC 2340 reel to reel 4 tracks and digitizing them since it has 8 outputs.

This interface does everything I need it to do and more. I am finally able to record my drum kit in to Garage Band using multiple microphones with a separate track for each. Works awesome. there are more features that will come in handy like the pre amps for when I record to tape. I highly recommend this unit.

Great Upgrade

I had a us-1641, which is the predecessor to this model. It was no longer supported on the later versions of Mac OXS, and now macOS. I was forced to upgrade to the us-1608. It is a great device, has a smaller footprint, and works better than the 1641. I recommend this product. It works great with GarageBand and Logic Express 9.

Got this mixer a few days ago for my home studio and after messing around with it and REAPER, to say the least I'm impressed. Built with quality, preamps are clean, and the knobs are silent. I'm excited to start using this thing in some sessions in the new year!
DRIVERS STILL A PROBLEM 10/2015

Bought this unit in 3/2015. It didn't work well due to the drivers but since its TEAC / TASCAM I felt confident a patient wait would be rewarding. Not so. They just can't get the Blue Screen of Death fixed. The machine itself is great when it works before the crash dump bsod. I'm not gonna get into all the workarounds. It's the drivers. Bottom line. Too bad. This unit has everything else especially a great price. If the drivers don't ruin tascams rep then this may become the working mans recording interface and excellent sounding pc audio.

Using this as a mixer / recording system for our small band, and it's just great. But be warned that if you're using Live as your DAW, you'll need to upgrade to a version that will handle all the input channels.

Good quality and easy to set up. Software was a breeze to set up. Looks professional yet not flashy. Maybe could use some lights to be able see knobs better . But over all great sound , Which is the main goal.

I needed at least 8 inputs so I could record my drums directly into my DAW. I have a Presonus 1818 in my control room & purchased this unit in my live room. 1st time out the box it was amazing. Once you download the software it is intuitive, easy to use, & my drums sound great.

Having a home Studio consisting of 2 rooms of Analog and Digital this Tascam interface is great. The onboard Digital Mixing Console is great for those who do not have a physical console.

All well and good so far. Can't comment on the quality of the mic pres as I may not be using them. I was replacing an Ultra 8R that went south. Definitely seems like a good unit for the money.
