I was given this microphone to test out. Room was acoustically treated and shot with many recordings for percussion/drums done at this studio Sound Sources: Snare Drum, Congas, Djembe, Shaker Construction: All metal casing, suitable for live sound application without worry, includes nice carrying case too. Sound Quality: For all my sources, I was able to get the mid range and high frequency range coming through clearly in the mix with detail and tone. This is not an overly sensitive mic and you should have no problem dialing it in with a preamp or mixer. With the congas we were able to capture the sound perfectly a few inches off the head and at a 45 degree angle, you'll need slightly more gain here, however, you won't have to worry about picking up nearby mics if you are doing multiple close mics for percussion sources. Overall Impression: This is a great microphone that really excels as a close range mic for mid range instrument sources like percussion. I would find it suitable for any live shows I do so]und for, or recording percussion elements. I didn't try it on a guitar cab, but I would guess in a live situation it could do it well. ... More

Pretty good mic! Have used it only for micing my guitar cab in my home studio. I have to say I like it a little better than an sm57 on heavy guitars. But the 57 is acceptable in about any situation. As for how this one behaves on drums, bass, vocals, heck, even the presidents podium (notice, there's always an sm57) I can't say. They tell me I shouldn't mention price in this review but let's just say i got it at a very steep discount while on sale at my local store. I wasn't expecting much, but it's a fine product with fancy packaging, and a very nice storage bag. If you're looking for a mic for your guitars, especially heavy guitars, even at full price, it beats the heck out of the competition. ... More

I travel and tour a lot, but love to demo tunes out when I'm home. That being said, I have a hard time spending a bunch of cash on mics that only get occasional use in my home studio. The Sterling P10 checks all the boxes for me: Durable, sleek, versatility, bright response, and the pricing can't be beat. Whether it's electric guitar, an acoustic, or drums and percussion, this is a handy mic to have in your cabinet. And I love the protective soft case- bonus!

I am using this mic for acoustic guitar as well as with my guitar amp. I am keeping my eq flat for both acoustic and amplifier. The mid to high frequency response makes it very easy for me to get the sound I want necessary for proper performance and recording (not having to dial tone with my eq). The sound is much less dark than an SM57 and a bit more punchy. I am getting really, really clear recording and performance output with this fantastic microphone!

Nice instrument mic, especially for live performances with drums or electric guitar amps. Good mid-range response and although it had a little lower sensitivity than other mics I compared it too, it was easily handled by adjusting preamp gain on the mixer. Nice looking design and it comes with a very nice case!

Real nice weight and feel to this. I really like the case that can actually protect the mic as it travels. I tested it against a few of my favorite mics and it held its own as far as gain and tone. It doesn't suffer from the muddy midrange sound of many lower priced mics.

Great sound and isolation from this microphone. Recorded my snare drum and other drums separately, impressed with the full mid and high range sounds captured. Would love to give this microphone a test on the road for live settings.

I've been using this as my snare drum mic the last few weeks and its been excellent! Its a little brighter than a 57 so it puts a nice "crack" on my snare without having to add eq or adding a bottom mic underneath the drum. Its built like a tank and is quite affordable too. I need a few more!

not a lot of gain. i am using it to mic an acoustic guitar then run that into a small , 180 watt, powered speaker. not much gain. must run the amp at redline. not really working as well for me as the happy reviewers who persuaded me to buy it.

I was able to get some great classic rock tone out of this mic into a UA Apollo Twin. Nailed Gimme Shelter with that setup. Looking forward to getting my acoustic in front of it.

Mic was defective, tried to do a simple exchange and GC does not do that. They wanted me to buy another one and then return the defective one.
