My main goal was to find an earbud that was lightweight, didn't bother my (sensitive) ears, and didn't pull out as much as previous products I've tried. I have an oddly shaped ear, and I don't find over-the-ear or top-wire units comfortable, so I wanted the best normal earbud set I could get. On that front, these are great - they're lightweight, their angle helps them sit more naturally in the ear, and they fit well enough that they don't seem to have as much tendency to fall out. I knock a star off because their rubberized cable seems to catch on clothing, zippers, etc. I never understand why companies continue to make sticky wires - it seems like the opposite of what you'd want to do. But, sadly, there was another drawback - a muddy mid-range. The bass and treble seem fine but certain songs take a definite audio quality hit. I wasn't expecting studio monitors, but I did expect more from Sony. If what you want is bass, these totally deliver - when they say Extra Bass they mean it. They just don't have much else. I'm not totally UNHAPPY with them - I tend to use earbuds in places where you can't always tell audio quality anyway (outside running, in the subway, etc.) so I'm keeping them because the other qualities above were way more important to me. But... definitely try before you buy if you can. Audio quality is very subjective. ... More

I own Sonys Legendary MDR XB500 and 950BT headphones which produce big punchy bass. Awesome headphones for listening to my kind of music, house, dance , hiphop. The only downside to these are the humongous size. I look like an idiot wearing them in the street especially on my little head. So I started to do some research on affordable earbuds with similar type of sound that wouldnt break my bank. I stumbled upon these and the 90ex and decided to go tue cheaper route so if I were disapointed I wouldnt be too angree at my purchase. But boy what a great purchase this was. The sound was almost exactly what I was looking for. These buds sound just about as good as my other two cans For less than half the price of them. Awesome punchy deep extended bass. The only negative is the mid range is low as the audiophiles say (recessed). An app like power amp can fix that issue though. Another plus for me is They actually stay in my ears which was a problem with previous earbuds. They are also light in weight. I can rock these for hours and no notice they in my ears. If you are looking for earbuds to listen to classical, jazz or any type of music which concentrates on highs and mids stand clear from these buds. These buds are all about the punchy bass. ... More

These things are like having a 2.1 speaker set right in your ears. The bass is PUNCHY, and brought right to the front of your listening experience. Audiophiles/purists might not want to consider these because the mids and highs take back seat to the bass. It can be toned down in your MP3 player's EQ for a more balanced sound though. They sound great when properly equalized, and would make a fine addition to your mobile entertainment experience. Another plus is the wire is flat, and in my experience, doesn't tangle as much as other headphones (results will vary). The headphones have a little weight to them, and can feel uncomfortable if you have them playing heavy bass tracks i your ears for long periods of time. ... More

I was kinda skeptical about these earphones , but reading the reviews, i had to get one. Wow, these things sound nice! I've had and tried Beats and BOSE (twice) and these earphones sound better and louder than those. As long as you have then nicely fit in your ears ,you hear amazing bass that not even the $120 BOSE could deliver. Now, it does have some minor downside to it. No volume control, just pause and skip tracks. Ear phones ten to pop out if you do any running or jogging. Cable doesn't seam very rugged, I've only had them for a week now. Have to see how long they last. And lastly, the jack is in L shape which i personally don't like. Other than that, you'll get your moneys worth in these $30 earphones. Get them. ... More

I was a little apprehensive before buying these. I thought that these might have too much bass for the music I listen to. I like Rock ( Eminem/Aerosmith,U2, Bruce Springsteen, Guns and Roses), Some pop (Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Adele, Duffy, Jessie J)and New Age. They all sound good. Bass is really good. I'm impressed. I tried the cheaper The House of Marley Smile Jamaica. It had decent bass but middle and high's were very muddy. These are clean and clear from high to low. It has pretty good sound isolation as long as you use the proper size gel piece. I initially used a smaller one and these sounded terrible and I hear a lot of outside noise. I couldn't hear anything on the NYC subways. I changed the gel piece and subway riding is so quiet with just music. ... More

If all you want is good bass, and dont want to spend any more than this, the MDR-XB50AP is pretty good. WHAT I USE THEM FOR: Working out in a gym. About an hour on weight machines 3 times a week. PROS: Light weight, very good bass, good variety of colors available, I like the flat cord better that a round one. CONS: 1. I can not get them to stay in my ears, I tried all provided ear cushions that were included and they start to work themselves loose in 10 minutes or so. I dont know, could be my ears or my workout. 2. Mids and highs are kind of dull. The 5 band equalizer on my sound player is set to max bass, and max on the highest 2 frequencies. However, I listen to the same songs on my drive home from the gym in my 2014 Tacoma with a stock sound system and the songs have a lot more sparkle. 3. Cords too long. WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN: Possibly not, it certainly wouldnt be my first choice. ... More

I bought these because my Ultimate Ears SuperFi3 buds finally broke and they didn't break the bank. I was interested by the bass boost and range of the driver so I got them to listen to heavy bass.Turns out it's actually got great bass and with the low range you actually feel it. Listening to Dubstep is great! Rock is pretty good as well. These are definitely best if you want some ear buds for bass driven music. They are also very comfy and the built in phone mic is nice since I listen off my phone.

I purchased these earbuds originally because I wanted a pair under $ I could use at work and I needed to cash in some purchase points from my Visa card (the earbuds the bank was selling were not that great). I went online an researched the one's with good overall ratings and solid bass. I had my expectations met and exceeded with these buds. They more then fit the bill and feel awesome in my ears. They are a bit heavier then most earbuds, but the weight is not distracting and they stay in my ears when I am doing other motions. ... More

I use these during my bus commutes, fast walking, and sometimes at my desk. The choice of ear rubber sizes is good (I use the x-smells). Sometimes I'll use one bud in my ear while bicycling, but it doesn't stay in ear very well when I move my head around and change position in the saddle. That being said, I think they are not the best for sports and exercise. But if you like excellent bass production and you want a control for skipping, pausing or repeating a song, they're great. The wires don't get as badly tangled as my previous set o' buds. I got the blue ones so they don't get lost in the bottom of my bag. I'm too lazy to put them back in their pouch ... More

These headphones feel like they have a lot of quality too them. I use them in the gym and find I can't head people around me when the buds are in and they don't fall out of my ears :). Can change the settings on the headphone controls to allow for volume control (2 clicks volume up etc) with Sony smart app. Highly recommended.

I lost a great pair of earbuds from a Samsung 5 phone but trying to buy another original was an adventure. Then I found the Sony earbuds and reviews were all good. Some people compared them to very pricey earbuds and loved these. The price was right and I wanted a decent pair of earbuds. The sound is great, bass is what I want and got as well as other musical qualities. If I lost these I would buy another pair of the same. Read the instructions. There is an app you download to make some sound and Microphone features work with your phone. Always check B&H before buying. The have competitive prices, ship fast, are reliable and trustworthy. ... The first time I ever wore these, I got a chicken dinner on solo on PUBG. I hear everything now! Prior to owning these earbuds, I was rocking a very uncomfortable Astro A10 headset. I'm glad I switched to some quality earbuds for half the cost, and they are red and black. If I didn't get these earbuds, I would have went w/ the new Sony Gold headset. Sony makes good products.
