Definitely worth the money. I can only compare them to Sennheiser HD 280 (mine are prob'ly 15+yr old) and AKG K371 (just bought). To my ears, they are all fine products. The HD280 are slightly more flat (as expected). The K371 seem a bit softer, maybe slightly more subdued highs. The MDR cups have a tendency to flip because they swivel more freely but not a big deal. They do seem a bit more fragile for that reason plus the exposed wires that make a big loop. Overall, I'd say a nice round sound. I love them so far. ... More

I'm a producer and sound engineer. I have used 7506's for 20 years until I lost my original pair during a move. After a year of using a pair of senheisser 280s. I'm glad I came back. They still bring the truer flatter sound needed for great mixes. I wouldn't trade these for a pair of overpriced beats the color the sound. Let's just say that the music that a make with these sound great in beats but not vice versa. My only issue is that after a while u'll need to replace pads or wires, but that's because you know they'll get a lot of use. ... More

Clarity and clean detail is what you hear. That's exactly what I want. Great for any music. Well recorded orchestras sound stunning. I love this headset and it gets a lot of use every day. The pads started to deteriorate after about a year or so but I found replacement pads on line that worked fine. Eventually one driver went down but I got my money's worth. Glad this model is still in the line so I could get a replacement.

I was looking for relatively good closed headphones - unfortunately, I found these on-ear headphones really uncomfortable. Maybe if you don't wear glasses, they would be fine, but they put pressure on my ears that made them unpleasant after just a few minutes. It's a shame, because I really thought they sounded good! I returned them in favor of over-ear closed headphones.

Pro: * Good enough for mixing audio for personal projects * Good enough for casual music listening (I'm not an audiophile, but it sounds good enough for me) * no need for headphone amp * Bass is just enough * blocks out outside noise well Con: * Does get slightly uncomfortable on ear after a long use * Sounds a little too bright, as others have mentioned (but I like it) * Not sure if the sound is flat, but I'm hoping it is.

I edit my videos at my home office. I use speakers to monitor my sound. However, there are times that I need to keep it quiet as in late night edit sessions. So I got a pair of these headphones to do just that. After using them for a while, I am not using the speakers much anymore. I just use the speakers for a final sound check. The entire editing process is done through these headphones. I love the flat and accurate response. They are very comfortable too for long edit sessions.

100% great headphones. I've had 6 of these over the past 20 years. I gave a pair away, had 2 pairs stolen, I tore the cable out of a pair repaired then lost them and I'm on a pair a few years young currently dressed in the 100% necessary SOFTIE covers. And just bought this pair for my son who got his 1st electric guitar at 13! Great value with fantastic performance, accurate reference, great isolation, compact, tough, AND affordable!!

If given the proper treatment these headphones can last a very long time. On top of that, they are quite affordable, but also provide an amazing sound experience. Great headphones for any reason you may need them. I personally use them for listening to my microphone when doing recordings and they provide me with a very accurate sound representation, but I also now use them for listening to music and they are so much better than any earbuds I have owned. Definitely recommend, but make sure you take proper care of them.

Seriously, Solid, clear work horse. I'm still impressed with the 7506. Industry standard. I started using these 18 years ago when working for CNN. They've taken the beating of being used for our run and gun shoots yet comfortable and clear to use in the studio. You get an "honest" sound out of these. Like I said... Solid and reliable.

I can't describe how many times I've put on headphones around this price range that would quickly or even gradually start to hurt my head or just make me feel pressure on my head. Most times causing pain around the ears so I have to constantly adjust the headphones after only 2 hours or so. NOT WITH THESE! Not only does the headphones not put so many pressure on my head, but also the Deep Earpads are extremely comfortable which I can go on for 12 hours wearing them and still be good! Also another factor is the Deep Earpads add better Isolation as well. Don't pass these up! ... More

I used this for monitoring audio for video editing. In that respect they were highly effective. In fact, in regards to audio quality they were awesome! My only concern was one, singular wire from one of the headphones to the band that goes around the head. It's only about an inch long and it sticks out slightly so be very careful it doesn't snag. Mine didn't, but it sometimes worries me. TAKE CARE OF THEM!

My third pair for home studio. Durable, good value and acceptable fidelity for blogging, voice-overs, monitoring, recording, etc. Excellent choice for general purpose headphones for musicians in studio recording and field recording. Moderate sound isolation - not the best for noisy environments. Not wireless. Decent frequency response with minor coloration. There are better options for critical high-fidelity monitoring, but usually at a much higher price point. Popular for decades, with proven track record.

I've owned my set for 15 years, they are starting to look worn around the edges and despite having to replace 1 speaker (totally my fault, got it wet) they have performed excellent for 15 years. Having said that, the plastic/vinyl coverings on the ear cups have all but disintegrated, my guess was due to sweat, but I just removed all the remaining pieces and it looks just fine but it will be more susceptible to soaking up moisture. All in all I recommend these, especially if you can get them on sale.

I got my first MDR-7506 headphone about fifteen years ago and it still sounds clean and robust like the day I bought it. I know this because I just bought my second 7506 headphone and when I compare them side-by-side, the sound is identical. It perfectly represents the signal being sent to it which makes it a great production and post-production monitor. The size adjustment make for a great, comfortable fit, and the included 1/4 TRS adapter fits tightly on the 3.5mm connector to insure versatility.

I like these headphones, but I bought then for pure listening and I do not do any monitoring. I ended up letting these go and am still searching for the perfect sub $ headset.Pros: relatively comfortable, lightweight, solid build, excellent bass definition, and heavy enough for my tastes. Details are good and separation of instruments is good.Cons: I move around a lot and the cord is a minus. Woah the ear cups could swivel. Miss/vocals are a bit thin.

I've wanted a pair of these headphones for years, and I don't know why I waited so long to pull the trigger on ordering a set, as I've rented them countless times. These headphones will likely be with me for the rest of my career. After all, in the unlikely event that parts wear out, they're easily replaceable both from the stand point that parts are readily available and easy to replace. I recommend them without hesitation!

Our radio reporters love these for their robust sound. Caution: if they get extremely heavy use, as they do in a broadcast studio, the exposed wires can get stripped as they rub between plastic parts. The wires are not replaceable. A little judiciously applied electrical tape can prevent the problem. Also, the pad covers will wear out more quickly than you might expect (they are replaceable.) But all in all, great phones.

I've been using the MDR-7506 headphones for televison audio and studio recording since 2000. The MDR 7506 are great because: the sound quality is amazing (lots of low end and a lot of clarity in the high end). Also the 7506 are ultra tough they've been dropped, thrown, kicked, they endured such a beating and they always keep working perfectly. The other great feature is that the 7506 headphones are so comfortable that one can wear them for 12 hours straight or more without any discomfort. Overall The 7506 is a great product. The standard of the industry.

These are hands down the best headphones I've used, the frequency response is amazing, and the bass frequencies are the best feature of these headphones. The bass is so good on these, that I can clearly hear the bottom notes of a 32' organ pipe (which sound at a mere 16 Hz at Low C)...so yeah these headphones have really good bass response. Only downside to these are that the pads tend to wear out over the years, but replacement pads are relatively cheap. I highly recommend these headphones, well worth the money

I bought a pair of these for my home studio in the early 90's and they still work perfectly. I learned of these in a home recording manual by Craig Anderton, he used his for mixing recordings. I dropped mine on the floor and stepped on them a year or so after I bought them. I repaired them with a brass screw and have had zero problems ever since. I have replaced the earpads more times than I can count, and they just keep chugging along. The sound is outstanding, these are an industry standard and a classic among audio pros. Buy a pair, they will last you forever! ... More
