This camera is doing a really good gob its pretty amazing. I bought this because my A77mk ll has been acting up which is causing me worry so I got this A7R mk ll as a bit of a in between till I can get my hands on a A9 ll. The price was great and the person on the phone at B&H was great also. Unfortunately I just don't have at full frame E mount glass so everything is cropped at 18 mp which is fine for now.

The definition and detail possible with this camera are stunning. Cropping is a breeze with so many megapixels to spare, there is no noticeable drop in image quality. The functionality of the camera is highly intuitive and customization is a breeze. It has quickly become a tool which naturally inspires my creativity. The Zeiss 24-70 mm f4 is super crisp and allows me to confidently shoot landscapes, portraits, and is a great traveling lens. I would recommend this set to any photographer who does not want to compromise on image quality. You will not be disappointed.

I love the sensor on this camera. It has very decent ISO performance and it was a huge jump in improvement compared to my 5d mark II. Auto Focus is also greatly improved on this even with the Metabones adapter, which I was worried about before purchasing. And the focus peaking while manually focusing is great if you have to or prefer to shoot that way.

I've used Canon for years and I finally decided to hop onto the Sony train. The performance of this camera is supreme quality in my opinion.

I've not had a chance to really put this camera through its paces yet, but I can give my first impressions. Build quality is great. The 42mp can certainly bring out the details and the sensor's sensitivity in low light is spectacular. I also got the 55mm Ziess lens and I can't wait to put them through their paces. The new 24-70 is tempting me.

I've been using three A7II bodies for a few years and took advantage of the new pricing to buy a pair of A7RII's. The features and controls are similar and the learning curve was very short in getting comfortable with the new cameras. I think that the EVF may be a little easier to use as I only shoot with vintage adapted lenses. I also find that the focus peaking is more reliable on the RII bodies. Battery life is still questionable but the batteries are small and the fact that you get two with the camera is a plus. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the upgrade and the service from B&H. ... More

I Have always been a Canon Shooter . This has opened my eyes to a whole other world of Photography. size, image Quality , Color Rendition . I have it paired with the 55 1.8 which is a superb lens . i bought the metabone's adapter to use my canon lense's . its ok . i think i will be investing in Sony native lenses though . I'm not a techie so i can't get into all the specs . this camera produces stellar images . 42 mp gives you some pretty large files to work with . if you shoot uncompressed even larger . if you are on the fence about switching to mirrorless and sony . stop and just do it . and if you do regret it . you have 30 days to return it . but I'm sure you won't .B&H was Great with guiding me with my choice . Thank you Mike in the Sony dept. ... More

This camera surpasses the Sony @6500, also a very good camera. The photos are detailed and stunning using either a full frame Sony 35 mm prime lens or full frame Sony 28 mm prime lens. The standard 28-70 kit lens also produces great photos but the two prime lenses are each much lighter a smaller to carry around. I'm using Capture One Sony Pro for editing. Both portraits and landscapes come out outstandingly well. The Alpha a7R is the ultimate camera at 42 meg pixels. It outshines all others. Get it if you can.

As of this review (Feb 2016), probably best full frame mirrorless camera in the market who is going to use the camera primarily for photography. Coming from APS-C DSLR, high ISO performance of that camera unbelievable. I shoot at ISO 2000 w/o any concerns or visible noise (especially for mobile consumption)

Bought this camera during the $500 off sale from Sony. A big step up from my A68. Camera is easy to use and takes outstanding pictures. Menu takes a bit to get use to even coming from a Sony camera. Body is light and feels solid in the hand. Don't care for the movie button placement, but easily fixed with one of four customizable buttons. I love the ability to customize my Functions menu also. I wanted to make the jump to full frame, but was on a budget. This camera meet my wishes and exceeded them. Great camera for the price. I would buy it again from B&H if I had the funds to do so! ... From the moment I heard this beast has 42 megapixels, I kind of went bonkers. I'm moving up from my Nikon 3400 for this is my first full-frame / mirrorless camera. It was a big investment but my passion and love for cameras kind of helped me go with this one. There are many other cameras out there but if you like quality and style, THIS IS THE ONE! I look forward to shooting some more and adapting to the many features this camera has. The only downside is uh, I couldn't find a a red body glove lol ... More

I was a Canon user since 2015, mostly with the Canon EOS Rebel T3 and T6 models. However, after being introduced to Sony's video and photo capabilities, I had to make the switch. I bought this kit on Black Friday for $1,500 (plus tax, which brought the total to around $1,700). Everything came packaged neatly and the product itself met my high standards. After doing hours of research to determine whether or not this camera kit was worth the money, the pros had outweighed the cons 10-to-1. Especially for the price of the kit as a whole (the camera body was selling for around $1,400 on Amazon at the time), this product was/is a score for any artist trying to up their game! ... More

Awesome camera! Tons of features in a compact size. 42 mp and full frame format gives tremendous latitude in post processing. Sony technology has left Canon and Nikon in the dust. Just an incredible camera.

Love, love love this camera. Dynamic range and subtlety that I had been looking for, simply since film. Except for (of course) battery life., complexity and price. BUT - then it crapped out ONE WEEK OUT OF WARRANTY... $480 to repair.

So this is my first Sony Alpha camera and im very impressed. I used to have a nikon d80. But havent picked that up in a while. Im just a guy who enjoys taking photos on my days off. A lot of my friends have been using sony alphas so i finally decide to buy an A7rii because it was fairly priced and its perfect for what i will be using it for. I highly recommend for anyone wanting to switch to mirorless but has a lower budget.

I purchased the A7RII to replace my A7II, both so I could use my Leica, Zeiss and Voigtlander m-mount lenses. The A7II was great, the A7RII even better. There are many in-depth reviews of this camera, the most helpful for me was Steve Huff's.

Was torn over whether or not to go mirror less. As an SLR guy forever and separate video camera believer, I have been pleased. The smaller size is a great plus. The video viewfinder is better than my own vision, so as I have a preference for a viewfinder, this was great, and it detects whether or not you have your eye to it, viewfinder turns on, or if you hold the camera up, the LCD screen comes up. As with most cameras, this has way too many features to understand, but does well with auto, and with a little trial and error, the manual setting with 2 roller knobs for aperture and shutter speed give you good, simple options. Video does well although I have not explored it fully. Shot in 4K but have not figured out yet how to download video off the camera to my computer. Overall, I have been well pleased and know there is much more capability that I will continue to learn about as I use it more. ... More
