I was a micro 43 photographer. I made the mistake of doing a comparison with a Sony full frame camera. I shot a series of pictures the way I shoot, processed the way I process and printed 13X19s the way I print. Everyone who looked at the results saw a significant difference. I like the form factor of the Sony. I was a GX8 user and and used a Contax G2 in film days. The system with the 24-70 lens is surprisingly similar in size and not much heavier (subjective reaction) to my m43 camera with the 2.8 zoom of a similar focal length. I am getting great results. Pleased with the choice and would recommend the camera to a friend. The B&H support about choices (I considered Nikon and Canon) was helpful. ... More

The A7r is a great camera, but certainly felt like the first of its kind. With the Mark 2 it is very clear that Sony listened to the feedback they got from round 1 and made many simple changes that brought about drastic improvements. Faster auto focus - the in body stabilization - extra custom buttons, and better ergonomics - and some smart new firmware updates make this thing one heck of a machine (Oh and the silent shooting is amazing)!

I recently upgraded from the samsung NX system to the alpha series. I absolutely love this camera. Absolutely insane image detail, the salvage capabilities in post with shadows and light are incredible too! My only complaint with this camera is that the menu system is not laid out very well and can get very confusing.

Not much to say that others haven't already said. The only problem I'm having is that sometimes I get out of focus shots. Still haven't figured out why. Because I have 2 cameras - one for backup, they both occasionally deliver out of focus shots. I shoot static objects. It's not my fault, it's the camera. All my shots are tripod mounted.

Weldone Sony. Putting all the important controls on the right hand side avoids crossing hands while holding the lens/camera with my left hand. This long overdue ergonomics concept has bypassed the designers at all other DSLR manufacturers despite being so obvious to any positive logic/ergonomics oriented folk in North America and Europe.

I'm a pro, shooting a wide array it things, from weddings to products. This is probably the last camera I'll ever buy - it does everything well.

Really liking this camera. I bought it because of the silent shutter mode. I no longer have to use a blimp to shoot on a film set. I did purchase the Vello battery grip since the camera didn't fit perfectly in my hand. It's a much better grip with the battery grip. There are some aspects of the camera that are different from my Nikons so it is taking a learning curve to get use to. Overall, I am very happy with the camera.

The a7rii in my opinion is one of the best value for money when it comes to still photography. Of course the high megapixel to price is what makes it such a beast. With 42MP you can create professional prints and billboards. You can also crop quite aggressively when uploading anything. The a7riii fixes many of the small gripes with this camera, but if you can just deal with little things like no touch screen and other ease of life functionalities this camera is great. Dynamic range is solid and colors are pretty good. Excellent entry level full frame to start collecting Sony glass. My biggest complaint of course is the battery life, although the camera comes with 2, I plan on getting 2 more batteries as well as a battery grip. I haven't really tried video yet so I can't comment on that. For stills 10/10 beast! ... More

I love this camera however the many issues that I am having with it I can't afford to keeep it. 1. During a my last 4 shoots my monitor turns black and resets the ISO, aperture, shutter speed and white balance. 2. it over heats! The bad outweighs the good. Thank Good B & H is letting me return this. However if I hear things change I will by this camera again and update this review.

Heavy duty and surviving shooting outside pouring rain for few hours. Such an improvement over previous A7 series. I used A7, A7S, and A7R2 and A7R2 surpasses over every situation. Highly recommended.

I am amazed at the photos that this camera produces. The color is so vibrant. I am still learning how to fully use it but it is not that hard (coming from Canon). I just have the zeis 55 mm 1.8 and again the pictures are amazing.

Though a few years old, this camera really steps up compared to the Sony A6000 I already own. The quality of the sensor, as well as the on board image stabilization really helps for video, as well as photography, allowing me to turn the shutter speed down a bit more because of how stable the photo can be. Overall, even in 2020, this thing is an absolute beast with 4K and high quality photos!

I'm a pro user, good for stills, poor for video. Cont focus sometimes works, but often does not. Skin tones always seem to have a magenta look. Its a bit ugly. Huge images with high detail, but one can immediately see inferior lenses. Its okay, but because I added it to my A7S for video, which is really wonderful, except for the auto-focus, which is also poor, images just don;t look as nice with the A7R2. I've had mine for a year and I will be getting rid of it. I do not recommend this camera as the A7lll is already better at almost everything at less money. ... More

A brilliant device. Low-light performance is superb, autofocus is super fast, images are very sharp with really good white balance and accurate colors. OLED viewfinder displays excellent colors but it could be better if the resolution was increased from XGA to UXGA. The only thing that keeps this camera from achieving perfection is the battery life and viewfinder resolution. Otherwize, this is an amazing camera that beats out many of the top DSLRs on the market right now.

Just started using recently with legacy glass. I am taking up landscape photography and I love the resolution and this system makes my 35mm manual focus glass shine. Very sharp photos with this combo. I did set up all the custom buttons making the camera much easier to use. I live in an area where there are many waterfalls and hiking areas. The best purchase I have made in a long time. I did a lot of research and decided on a full frame sensor as not to have a crop factor with 35mm glass. Sony makes it easy to focus manually with focus peaking. ... More

Just started using this camera, so far it has been great, no issues with battery performance but know that they are smaller batteries so there will be less time. I am using the camera in conjunction with the metabones adapter for using my canon lenses and no issues so far.

Will keep this short. The camera is phenomenal but be aware you will have to work at it to take great pictures. My only complaint is that it frequently feels more like a technical device than an artistic tool. I wish Sony would look at what Olympus is doing to make cameras look and feel like a camera. But if you want superb IQ, look no further.

I did my fair share of research before jumping on the mirrorless train. It's been incredible so far to work with 42MP. The thing not many people comment on is the simplicity of this camera. For a powerhouse, the functions are incredibly familiar and second nature after only a few shoots.

Works well if it is what you need. It's just a tool. I am a canon shooter for business but I purchased this for more fun, social media and tutorials. For my purposes it works fine and while some ergonomics are not as easy compared to typical DSLR usage I can still work around it. If your job makes that an issue then some of the short comings may not be for you despite how good the image quality is. Get the tool that best fits your NEEDS and you won't be disappointed.
