I have used the Rhode before - it was great as well Except changing the battery was a bit of a hassle for me. Spoke to BH sales and they recommended the Shure. Much easier to use and it also sounds great. I use it only as a scratch track on DSLR - but at close range it could be used for primary audio as a backup.

I have read review I found from googles etc and decide that rather go with Rode unit. I always has been using Shure products and have suggested others so why not. I'm very please with results. I have not yet to use outside as it has been raining every other day but I have done some in-house test with fan blowing with different setting also using Olympus SEMA-1 since I'm using VP83 with my Olympus OMD EM-5. Quality of the products is good and far as voice quality it also surpass to me.

It had rattle/clunk noise when I tilt the camera down or up. It was ok panning side to side. When I shook it gently off the camera, I could hear something is loose inside. I returned it and got the Rode. I'm surprised no one is talking about this issue.
