I got to compare these with several other headphones and they were one of the most accurate sounding of the lot (the other model was also a Shure, but I forget which one). Unlike a lot of headphones, these don't undershoot or overshoot on the bass or have that weird "processed" EQ curve that normal consumer headphones have--these seemed to translate the music in a way you assume the artist would have intended you to hear it. It was more of an open, "finished" sound....not overly scooped or lacking detail and punch in the mids. You will like these for both mixing and casual listening, unlike many headphones. What I generally dislike about a lot monitoring headphones is that they undershoot the bass, likely to simulate the experience of monitors that focus in on midrange detail (yes the meat of the music is in the mids, BUT...) As a result, you end up going back and forth trying to guesstimate your lows somewhere in-between what the headphones are telling you and what your monitors produce. In regards to my tastes, I prefer ACCURATE bass that also keeps the detail of the mids intact when I'm checking a mix on headphones and this model was the most satisfactory, by a noticeable margin. ... I think this headphone is a real bargain and perfect for tracking and you can also mix with them (yes, even though they are closed backs). I like them better then my ATH m20 and, well, just different then my Sony 7506, They isolate really well, are comfortable, and have a solid frequency response all-around. The construction is good and excellent extras like pads and carry case, not as portable as some headphones but still portable enough for me. Detachable cord is great too, comes with a coil type but that doesn't bother me.

B&H's price for these headphones made the purchase a no-brainer. I am partial to Shure and figured I could return them if they didn't work for me. I w t be returning them! Out of the box the headphones look, feel, and perform very well. They deliver Shure's trademark balanced sound, which may be a little bland for some ears. When I used my streaming service's EQ functions, though, they really got fun. Don't sleep on this deal.

Headphones sound great, they aren't perfectly flat there is a peak I think around 6k and the bass has a bump but sound is clear. Only complaint is I wish SHURE had a shorter cable you could use since their jack is a locking system and the pads are a little shallow so staging is limited

I would have used these headphones to sequence original arrangements. I traded them back in for a different brand that has better frequency response. They did fit well and were comfortable, but for the price I expected much better quality of sound. I am also disappointed that GC's headphone demo setup to listen/compare didn't give me a sense of the lesser quality

I bought these for my home studio. They sounded the best in this price range. I bought these in-store, so I was able to test a number of different models and brands using the headphone display area's audio test.
