I bought these IEM's almost 2 years ago. I have noticed alot of reviews saying that they kept cutting out.. I too noticed that when I first bought them, Then I realized you HAVE to clean them...I have used mine every week (as I play at my church) for two solid year's. And I am about to purchase my second set for our lead guitarist....5 stars!!

After spending more on Bose, Sony, and nearly as much on a pair of Skullcandy earphones (I'm embarrassed to admit I tried them on the advice of a friend who assured me that I would be pleasantly surprised...but that was not the case), I gave up when each pair proved not to be durable. I resigned myself to using whatever cheap earphones came with a given cellphone, MP3 player, or tablet, so that I wasn't bothered when it fell apart or I simply lost it. Eventually, however, I got tired of all vocalists sounding like they had a sinus infection, and bought a pair of the Shure earphones. I have not been disappointed. They feel substantial, and with the swiveling connection to the cord, they maintain their position in my ears much better than any prior earphones. I like the fact that the cord is readily replaceable if it does someday give up the ghost. The sound is uncolored and reasonably good overall...I'd say middle of the pack compared to others I've used at this price point. They don't have quite the same tight bass or crisp presence that the (more expensive) Bose had, but they're not bad...and they still work...a big advantage over the Bose. If I am sitting still and listening carefully to music, then I switch to my Sennheiser headphones, but for use while moving around the house or out in the yard, I am pleased with the Shure earphones, and can recommend them for that purpose. ... I'm a professional bassist, keyboardist, and singer, and rely on in-ear monitoring to save my hearing and get the best possible on stage mix. I previously used the standard phones that came with my Shure wireless in-ear rig, and they finally failed after 3 years continuous use. The old standards were no longer available, so I checked out the SE215. To my delight they are WAY better than the originals for about the same price. These wrap around the top and behind the ear, and have a stiffener that can be adjusted to conform to your own contours. Very comfortable.Sound isolation is excellent. The outside world is inaudible, even when moving your jaw to sing. Cord noise transmission is also very low, due to the cord routing.Build quality is excellent. The cables appear indestructible, and are even replaceable. What's also nice is that the buds can rotate at the cord connection point, making them quite flexible while reducing the sharp cord bend coming out of the buds.Sound quality is excellent. Full, rich bass and crystal clear highs with no harshness or frequency bumps.Bottom line, these are the babies to get if you're looking for a true value in professional in-ear monitoring. ... More

We purchased the Shures after renting a monitor system to try it out and the Buds they sent with it were Sennheisers which were good enough for us to decide to purchase the monitor system but we weren't wild about the buds. after reading several reviews and knowing the quality of Shure products our leader decided on the Shure SE215's. After the first use they were a hit! They now carry them all the time and use them for everything. In fact I'm the sound man and our bass player is going to buy me a pair because he was so impressed with the bass capability. Not to mention the 2 year warranty if anything happens to them they replace them! If your a sound man and want to make the band happy definitely buy these buds! ... More

Very happy with these SE215 Sound Isolating Stereo earphones. Most of the reviews are accurate in that (1) There is a learning process and a fitting period to inserting and experiencing good sound isolation. (2) I also had to use the largest foam inserts for comfort and for sound Isolation . I primarily use these for practicing drums and could use an even larger set of foam inserts(B&H, do they make these larger?). My playing was sufficiently isolated from the music or the metronome and they are very comfortable. But as I said I could use even larger foam inserts so at times head movements would temporarily 'unseal' the earphone. I also found that hanging the cable behind my back directly against my skin would cause tugging(practicing shirtless, sounds weird but drummers understand) and pull the earphones out a bit. Otherwise great affordable entryway into this style of earphones and definitely protect my hearing better than earbuds and the over ear Bluetooth from SONY(which I use when commuting) which I can't use with a metronome and my MP3 player(metronome has no Bluetooth) ... The sound isolation is superb. It worked SO well, I actually used them as hearing protection on helicopters (Chinooks are FREAKING LOUD!!!). The sound is superb. I bought these while in Afghanistan. They survived many missions and trips, I use them in my civilian manual-labor job daily, I use them to exercise daily, they've been through two washing machine cycles, so believe me when I tell you they're rock-solid (except I'm on my third cord but that's OK since I'm so hard on them). After easily 1000+ hours of music they still sound fantastic (especially for the price point). The way the cord wraps around your ear, coupled with the foam sleeves secured in your ear, prevent these from coming out of your ear even when tugged hard. The modular construction, being the cord and foam sleeves, is perfect and has helped solidify Shure as my headphone/earphone brand of choice! ... More

These are fantastic. It's worth the effort to fiddle with the different ear inserts - my dad likes the medium rubber, I like the biggest foam. They do get a little hard to wear after about 8 hours, but they're so comfortable I fall asleep in them if I listen to music in bed. They're like little pillows for my ear canals. They knock the office noise down to nearly nothing - great if you have noisy or talkative cubicle-mates. They do take some effort to figure out how to shape the wires to your liking, and they don't just pop in and out like cheap ear buds. They even help keep my glasses in place - which is nice given that I wear progressives - they don't interfere with the glasses placement at all. The reproduction on these is amazing. I can actually hear the bass without cranking the volume up. I am rotating through all my music and listening with these - it's like an easter egg hunt for all the little details I couldn't hear before. I can't wait for a chance to use them as in-ear monitors - the whole reason I bought them! But seriously - I will never be without a set of these again, and might get a second set so I can leave one in my gig bag, and one at work. ... More

It offers great noise isolation. If someone is next to you talking, you'll barely notice it. You won't be able to hear anything with music on so you'll be able to enjoy your music much more. Not being able to hear anything might feel a bit weird or uncomfortable at first, but you'll get used to it. The earphones itself is very comfortable and I can wear these for long periods of time. I just love the Shure foam earbud sleeves. The cable noise is very minimal unlike other IEMs. Some people may complain about the cable being too long, but I'm a tall guy and I think it's a good size. If you're like 5 feet or less, this product may not be for you since the cable will be longer than you.My only complaint so far is that sometimes the audio cuts out because the cable is detachable. You can easily fix it by tightening it again. What I love most about this earphone is that it doesn't fall out easily. Even if you have it attached to your phone, and you drop your phone, it won't fall out. The earphone will stay connected to your phone and that saves you from damaging your phone. It doesn't work if you're short though. :) ... More

These were replacements for my original "go to" monitoring ear buds. I am impressed by the quality of workmanship on these 'phones and the sound reproduction is great. But, I like my sound in ear to be as flat as possible, so if you're looking for a booming bass in your in ear, these may not be the ones for you. They do cut the external sound down considerably. And, again the sound reproduction is great. I would be giving a five star rating except for two things. The 'moldable' wire sheath which fits over the top and behind the ear takes about 5 or 6 adjustments to stay in place, which makes for a slightly uncomfortable fit the first few 'wears'. And, second, the length of the cable is a wee bit on the short side for me. But, both of those items are only 'shortcomings' in my opinion. Overall, the product is great and worth the ~$100 purchase price. ... More

I am a drummer (loud and a hard hitter) and I use this to monitor my click track and my band. They are the PERFECT entry level IEM. I am throughly happy with this purchase. These aren't meant for the general population. These are meant for musicians doing studio work or stage work. These aren't for your iPod, Working out, library use, airplane use, casual listening etc. While they will work for those applications, they aren't designed for it and thus will produce lackluster results. Interesting transition. Works well. I am the front man in a hobby band that gigs about once a month. We decided to go to in ear monitoring to reduce the amount of equipment that we bring (stage monitors) and to help with our sound quality and being able to hear each other on stage. I matched this with a rolls P3 51 to monitor both myself, my instrument and the entire band. They definitely work well as sound canceling devices. When they are in my ears, they block any other sound. That works well because I stand in front of the drummer. It is, however, an interesting transition to not be able to hear the crowd. I was not prepared for that so much. I draw energy from the crowd response and hearing there cheering is useful to me. So it has taken a little getting used to to not be able to hear them directly. Overall I think it is a fine product That definitely works as advertised and I am satisfied with the sound quality and everything else. Easy to use. Lots of options for ear pieces. I did need to purchase a 10 foot extension cord to have more mobility on stage. Good luck! ... More

I bought these about 4 months ago. I'd been using the Vic Firth headphones and found they did not give me enough isolation to hear the music without maxing out the volume. With these Shure earphones, I am completly satisfied. I turn my ipod up to about 1/2 volume, maybe one click more, and it's plenty loud enough to drum along. I also use these in the studio and prefer these to the normal headphones one would wear in that situation. I don't think I'll ever go back to headphones. I hope to get one or two more, eventually, to keep in the studio. Love them. ... More

These are probably one of the best headphones in the $ range. Compared to my Sennheiser HD280's they are much better in sound quality and durability. They are very balanced sounding while still producing enough low end to keep your typical EDM fan happy. One of the first things I noticed was how clearly each individual track will stand out in a mix due to the superb isolation. My only complaint is that they hurt my ears after 45 minutes or so. They are a little difficult to put in and it's a little awkward how they wrap around your ear then go behind your back. It could just be me though because I'm very sensitive to stuff like that. I can't wear hats, glasses, or over ear headphones without getting migraines. That's the reason I sought out quality in ear headphones in the first place.Unfortunately your typical consumer knows no better than go with Beats by Dre. Granted they are much better then the lousy apple earbuds that come with your iphone, these headphones blow Beats out of the water completely. ... More

Took back Klipsch S4's which are certainly an inferior headphone. These are much, much better. Noise isolation is superb, like wearing earplugs - they're like nothing else i've used. They have a much higher volume owing to their internal driver, not that you need to turn them up much because of the isolation. They have removable earbuds so you swap a broken cable out for minimum expense, and the sound quality is tremendous. The cable itself is also very thick and extremely durable. the only problems for me are A) the cable is a bit too long so it ends up hanging about the place and B) they're a real fiddle putting them on. They require an upside down loop behind the ears move - which is fine once on, but i'm still finding it tricky 2 months on. And if somebody tries talking to you it's not easy to take them off and put them back on again. Small things but you can't ignore them. Overall they're a different level of headphone altogether. Most impressive. ... More

Once the buds are placed and if mostly seated, or still, these are great and they're my go-to earphones. (I always own 1/2 dozen, or so and are used mainly while somewhat active to active and my high fidelity interests are a fairly low-goal. Audiobooks and podcast compromise 75% of use). If I'm somewhat active...walking, cycling, these still work, BUT the weight of the piece at the end of the two cords can pull on the buds. Of course, the attached clip helps, but it's not easy to attach and it often orients the lines strangely IF not clipped precisely. The BT range is surprisingly poor...especially considering the tech that could be included in the large module at the end of the cords. When cycling/walking, if my iPh is in a back pocket, the signal has been irregular...which is really frustrating/unacceptable/. I have numerous other BT earphones that have no problem in the same config. This is the #1 issues with the device...again, not at all an issue if in a more controlled situ (seated, clear path btwn source and e-phones). ... More

So I went to these after my dog ate my Klipsch Image S4s. While these definitely have more presence than the Image S4 (larger driver), I was slightly underwhelmed. My hiphop definite sounds better because soundstage and clarity doesn't really matter. But when you are listening to vocals or jazz, the highs are just too muddled. The lows are heavy handed and linger and tend to drown out the already lacking highs. So, if all you listen to is dubstep and hiphop, grab them! Certainly better than Beats or Boses. If you want something more musical, I'd have to say skip. I would recommend them with these reservations. Also, they are really hard to put on... ... More

I was very impressed by the product because of the comfort and quality. I am a vocalist in a band. Originally, I bought these because it was recommended by two people who have been using the product for a long time. Today, in one ear during practice, the sound was cutting out for long periods of time then coming back for a few seconds. I ended up using a different pair after it was determined that the earphones, not the monitor, was the issue. I am in the process the seeing if I can/getting it replaced. I hope to get this figured out because I DO really enjoy the product. EDIT: So, 4 months ago I sent the earphones back to fixed. Today, the SAME ISSUE has returned with no sound out of the right ear! No floor monitors taking up space on a small stage no feedback form trying to get it as loud as possible before monitor feedback. All things considered, I prefer to play with Shure's in-ear headphones and I think these are an excellent choice. Don't let the fact that they're not as expensive as the others make you think that they're not excellent equipment. These headphones sound excellent and the isolation is top-quality. I sometimes listen to mixes with these, though I generally go with studio monitors. For gigs and rehearsing, these sound fantastic. They're also great for in the office; you can hardly hear a thing with these on. They're super-comfortable and I can wear them for hours without fatigue.
