I tried it and it sounds great. For the price I am completely satisfy. Best package deal for a mic. I gave a 4, because the tie screw nob for adjustments of the boom would not work very well. I took it out and I notice it was a bit too round on the tip so the threat would not get a tie grip. I file it down just a notch and it works perfect.

I needed a couple of mics for a week long recording session and I was on a budget. The mics and cables were exceptionally better than I expected. These mics are really good for vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, drums, amps, etc. These cables performed perfectly for our sessions. They are perfect for a home studio on a budget but I would not tour or travel with them as they are not designed for that type of use. Unfortunately, the mic stands were not so good. Out of the box the screws that hold the boom in place were stripped on both stands and did not do the job at all! Not really a show stopper but we had to use an alternative method to clamp the boom stands. in the end the jamming and recording was incredible! Many roofs were raised. With a little extra ingenuity, the stands did the job. 4 or 5 stars. ... More

This mic is not good for lead vocals! It is not clear and crisp like it should be. If you put ANY amount of reverb (even the slightest) with this mic, it makes you sound like you're in a tunnel. Since I switched to this mic, I've had some feedback about how my voice sounds much better with the old cheap mic I used to have. I'm going to upgrade to the SM58 for better quality.

I compared the sound quality of the PGA58 vs the Shure PG48 and the Zoom XYH-5 X/Y Mic capsule by simultaneously recording a baritone singing acapella with the Zoom H5. The PGA58 was clearly superior in the warmth and richness of its sound. Other characteristics were similar. We have used it in church service recordings with good results, including a close-up recording of a piano -- producing more natural sound than the PG48. None of this is surprising and is what you would expect given the product information from Shure and B&H, but its nice to have it confirmed by ear! ... More

I was on a tight budget and needed two additional mics. I would ordinarily buy the standard Shure SM58, but a B&H rep pointed out that the PGA58 Is a similar professional level model, and 60% of the price. I used an SM58 and the two new PGA58s in an outdoor concert, and could not tell the difference. The SM58 may be a bit more sturdy (it's known to be indestructible), but the PGA58 was excellent for the occasion!

I returned this. The usual great Shure look and build quality but too "hot". Would need to pay close attention to its proximity to monitors and/or speakers in a stage environment, more so than a typical SM58.

It works fine if you hold it very close to your mouth at just the right angle. Users have to be proficient at using a "singer type" of microphone. We tried to use it for different people taking turns speaking at a large meeting. Most of the people couldn't be heard because they couldn't get the angle correct. It was very frustrating.

We DJ, and are using these mics with Pioneer controllers. We bought this mic because it has a switch. The switch is smooth, quiet, and easy to use on a stand, or in hand. The sound is awesome. We noticed the difference immediately, and we received compliments from our regulars. Very clean, rich sound, with no background or feedback issues.
