So let me preface by stating that I bought the two person interviewer package to use with my mirrorless camera. My fianc and I have a YouTube channel and we require direct, on-person sound in noisy environments. To that end, the package works great. The mics are pretty sensitive, have a good frequency response (if a bit light on the low end frequencies), and they pick up everything being omnidirectional so a little post is always needed. We recently upgraded our preamp so heres a look at the old/new setup for reference: Old Signal chain: MVL pair Rode SC6 Rode SC3 TRS to TRS extension (10ft) Camera mic input. New Signal Chain: MVL singles TRRS extension cable (10ft) Rode SC3 Beachtek DXA Micro Pro L&R Camera mic input The new setup deletes the SC6 multi input box and is a more controlled of signal flow so that we can better separate the audio between us rather than rely on one gain control for two different sources. (Im usually louder than she is at the same distance from the mic) It also allows us to use studio condensors that we have laying around due to its +48v Phantom power, but Im getting off track here.. Both setups work great. My biggest issue is that this kit is advertised to work with the iPhone app. The issue is that ONE mic WILL work with the iphone, but the pair will NOT. I emailed Shure about this and they claim that its possible that the iPhone just cant supply enough juice thorough the Lightning port to power both mics properly. They also claim that they actually dont even sell this particular package, this is a package thrown together by the vendor (in this case, B&H) and its likely no one tested this product to ensure that it actually works as intended. I would have loved to have the option to use both mics on my phone, that would have been beneficial and easier at times, and is part of the reason I went with this rather than just buying the lavs separately. This is a package is sold as a two-person interviewer kit. However, be aware that in its advertised form for use with a phone, both mics wont work. In other forms though such as putting these to use for camera work, provided youve got the inputs itll work just fine. So TLDR; For off-camera audio, theyre great. Just dont expect to be able to use the kit as sold for BOTH mics, that just wont work as confirmed by the manufacturer. 4 stars for quality, function. 3 stars for delivering what was advertised. ... This mic sounds very good for how small it is. Low end is acceptably full sounding and not overblown at all, the midrange is definitely the focus and seems to be detailed enough for the use-case and the high end doesn't get lost even if it's slightly toned down than I expected. It's not sibilant at all as far as I can tell. It sounds very well-rounded and is easily manipulated in post to add compression and EQ if desired. A great all-round solution. I use a pair of these with my Fuji XH-1 and other Fuji cameras for on-site interviews with two individuals and have tested them on Sony cameras and Panasonics as well, they all work in the same manner. I bought the ShureDual MOTIV MVL Lavalier Microphone and Two-Person Interview Kit) and CRUCIALLY, to be able to use this dual mic setup with a DSLR camera with a 1/8" TRS input, you MUST buy a TRRS to TRS adapter (Also, picked up theRodeSC3 3.5mm TRRS to TRS Adapter for smartLav to accomplish this. I also purchased a 6ft female to male headphone extension as the length of the mic cables isn't exactly super long. YMMV, might need to purchase a ten foot or more depending.. This combo allows you to use your DSLR or mirrorless with a 3.5mm mic input just as you would a normal microphone. The audio sums to stereo however, and you don't have the option to separate it from your video unless you're recording to an external source. However, this might just be the solution you're looking for and if so, this combo is THE most cost effective way to obtain better audio. The included headphones are really terrible though, best used strictly for monitoring levels if you need it. I prefer to carry a much smaller package around with me (Sennheiser IE80's or simple iPhone headphones) on the sole principle that a giant headphone setup for my use-case is just overkill and takes up a lot of room in the bag. Not going to lie, I didn't realize this was a mic for Shure's smartphone app. I was buying this as a microphone for my tascam recorder. As some of you might already realize, it will not work for this. This mic only works with a smart phone and app. Upon realizing this I decided that this might not be a bad piece of equipment to have in my bag. It is now a back up for my other recorders and mic system. I haven't had a lot of chances to try it out, but from the little experience I have. Reasonable price for many applications. Bought it to use with my iPhone for simulated wireless setup (albeit you have an extra audio file to synch up in editing). It's either hundreds of dollars for a top pro lavalier wireless set up or $20 for a smartphone compatible mic that requires a battery with iffy sound quality or others that aren't directly compatible with smart phones without adapters. This one has a 50 cord and plugs directly in to my iPhone 5s. Works fine with Apple supplied voice memo app and even better with the iTalk app which allows file transfer from smartphone to computer via wifi. Capsule uses power from phone - no extra batteries to die at the wrong time. ... More

Without looking up my B&H shopping history I believe that I have had my Shure MOTIV MVL for over a year now. It is super easy to use with with any smartphone 3.5mm input. I have used if on several Android phones and tablets. I record demo videos all the time and this little mic is a lifesaver for the low price. Now with that being said, it cannot compare to my well over a thousand dollar Sennheiser mic I use for live shows, but if you need something and are on a budget this is the mic. And of course it goes without saying that Shure is an excellent brand. The only reason I give this product 4 stars and not five is there can be some white noise that comes through in the recordings. It is not bad, but it is there and I often have to try to get rid of that in post production. I have just added the free Shure MOTIV app and it has some extra features that a lot of the other recorders do not have. So, this may help fix the noise problem. I'm using these on my new DJI Mic 2 system. They are very clean and good gain with these Lavs. I had originally tried the Rode Go lapels. They were really good, but not a good match for the DJI Mic 2. There was a slight hum in the audio when in use. Some others have mentioned this in their post which I had not seen until after I ordered mind. I returned and ordered the Shure MOTIV and they work fine with the DJI pack.

This microphone works great for quick and impromptu interviews, video blogs and recording lectures. The sound quality is great and the app is easy to use. What is great about it is you don't have to carry your external sound recorder and can just use your phone. Would be great if it were compatible with other recorders or if you could use it as a wireless system, but the price makes up for that. Long cord is great too. I bought this to work with my DJI wireless. Many other mics pick up interference from the transmitter, the Shure doesn't. The mic has a little more high end than I would like, but after a little adjusting in post, you can easily tame it.

Use this product for recording interviews, teachings, etc. Works great. Plug into my iPhone and using the Shure Motiv app lets me record quality full resolution files in 24bit /48 Khz. And If You are recording video you can just sync it with the audio file in production. Love it. Helps me to capture quality audio wherever I am or whatever the context.

I bought this set to replace a cheaper amazon set of lav mics that failed after a short time. I normally use 1 or 2 of these mics running into my Zoom H4nPro for recording video interviews. The sound is great and the build quality is solid. Highly recommend. For the headphones - to me they were just a bonus item (the kit saved money over buying just the mics and the Rode splitter). I used the product to record audio for talking head interviews. I plugged the mic straight into my MacBook Pro and recorded with Adobe Audition, the audio is great. For the price, it really makes a great tool for a low budget.

I ran this mic as a backup to my wireless and it performed beautifully. Good quality sound, if a bit thinner than the wireless. I would use it as a standalone. I did have an issue with one interview where the sound was entirely noise. Not sure if it was the mic, a loose connection, or the software.

Good sound quality, easy to clip on. I use it for Iive broadcasts and it would be better if the very short cable was longer. I have to sit several feet from the camera and the cable is too short, which necessitates an extension cord. But extension cords are heavier and thicker and add weight to the mic pulling to down.

I was looking for two high quality small microphones then I got very happy when I found this kit including a pair of Sure microphones + one headphone (which I presumed it was from the same brand. The mics are really, really great and the price is quite affordable. When I found this headphone included into the kit, I didnt think twice: bought it. Opening the pack at home was quite disappointing once the headphone is not from the same brand as the mics. It is from a generic brand. And it sounds really bad and poor sound quality and not good looking. I felt bad because the announce does not specify it is from another brand. So dont buy it together. While YouTubers seem content to let their wireless transmitters hang off of shirts, I'm old school and like to hide the microphone. I'm using one of these with a DJI Mic transmitter, and there is no noise or interference being introduced into the audio. The sound isn't as warm as I would like, but it's still pretty reasonable for a lavalier. I'm not much of a sound tweaker, but I have been able to EQ it to something that I like a little better with very little effort.

Previously I bought Rode SmartLav 2, but this one it's $20 cheaper and it seems it's doing a better job. I feel like SmartLav it's getting to much ambient noise compare this Shure. I've used both of them connected to my iPhone. I'm not an audio expert it's just my own opinion, and I haven't test them in any professional production, just as a side by side comparison in house.

Picked up 2 of these for use with my new DJI Mic after reading the reviews that they were the least noisy and was not disappointed. They're a little trebly with a tiny bit of noise to filter out (again when using with the DJI), but otherwise exactly what I needed.

When placed close to collar, voice has good resonance, picks up just enough back ground sound so does not sound hollow.
