Using a Canon C100 MkII for travel and hand held video. The built-in mic works well, but wanted something with more stereo separation. The MKE 440 with the fur windscreen works very well. Stereo separation is surprisingly good, and the pickup pattern is effective at suppressing out of picture sound. The fur windscreen and LF rolloff filter are quite effective at suppressing wind noise. The mic is very sensitive, so it picks up mechanical focus noise from some of the L Series lenses, but not from an 18-135 f?3.5-5.6 STM. Turns out this little lens is as sharp as the L Series 24-105 f/4.0 except at the outermost edges of the image in FHD that this camera produces. The MKE 440 is very well made with high quality materials. Very happy with it. ... More

I love this mic. I just used it on a shoot where my subjects were 3 to 9 feet away and it was terrific. Nice stereo feel too. Roll off the base and there is almost NO handling noise. Great for a small hand held camera. I've shot for a few decades and Sennheiser never ceases to really amaze me. Worth the price!

I really like this mic. I had been using the Omni directional mics built into my Tascam D05 when recording a musical group in a large sanctuary. The reverberation is expected but the all directional mics pic it up and muddies the music. When I connect the MKE 440 which has two directional mics, the music is much clearer in that a great deal of the reverberation is reduced. I doubt I could tell much difference if I use the MKE 440 a few feet in front of a subject but for recording anything in a large room, the MKE will excel ... More

I have been trying for a long time to find a good on-camera mic that suits my needs. This one is excellent. Most of what I do is filming live music. That means I need a good sounding mic, in this case stereo, with a high SPL level that allows for the loud impact of drums without distortion. This, with the mic level on the MKE 440 set to its lowest setting works great. I did have to buy an adapter cable (about $11), since my camera only has XLR inputs, but that was a very small added expense. The mic uses two AAA batteries, and has a very long life before requiring new ones. The mic attaches very securely via the cold shoe mount. I havent had occasion to use the fur windshield, but I can say that it fits very securely over the microphones. ... More

Most directional of the small stereo microphones designed for DSLRs shooting video. Great for isolating noise.

It somewhat perform as described. It is capable of filtering the noise coming from the side but not as much as I would have hoped for. Seems to be less sensitive to ambiant noise (humming or buzzing) than my other stereo microphone. Being a shotgun style helps with this. Looks like I will still need to use noise reduction filters in post-processing. I like the fact that it is compact and the microphone are suspended inside the case.

I purchase this to work with a dSLR. The sound quality is significantly better than that on the camera's internal mic but that isn't surprising. I am still figuring out how to get best use out of this mic. I have tried on a zoom 4n with good results. It is the closest to natural sound that I have been able to get. On the negative side It is a bulky mic with the metal cage and the stereo shotguns however that is a fair tradeoff for the quality sound and sensitivity. I wish this was available before having spent the money on some other mics as it would have paid for itself in the savings. ... More

I picked this mic up to record interviews and my first project was a couple sitting on a couch. It couldn't been any easier as this mic picked up both voices with extreme clarity and richness of sound. I love how light and compacted this solution is, much better than trying to rig up to lav miss with mixer and extra cables.

So, the first and, thus far, only test I have taken this microphone on was a rock climbing trip my brother and I took. Fist off, let me just say that recording direct-to-camera sucks, so I can't blame the microphone for the poor compression that made my voice and my brother's voice very quiet. When shooting in a loud bar/restaurant with a lot of clinking glasses and chatty patrons, isolation was very good and my brother's voice was very clear. I will note that my voice was significantly quieter since I was behind the camera, so you may want to use a lav if you plan on shooting and talking. Overall, great sounding mic that should be going to a mixer for the best quality audio. ... More

I use the 440 for interviews primarily. I try to keep the mic within 4 feet of the subject. The stereo ability creates a fully sound, by picking up just enough ambient sound, while clearly capturing the voice(s). Build quality is outstanding, better than similarly priced products from the other major brands.

My experience after using other shotgun mics and seeing this advertised as stereo shotgun was intriguing, and after a few test videos with my D3200 Nikon, I was impressed by the lack of wind noise, turning the freq down (construction zone), and with music in a noisy conversational room (winery), I heard none on the playback, yet getting the music from 15 feet yet surrounded by people at three to five feet.

Very Clear and detailed Sound. I tried to record in a dinner party. It can catch the voice of the people very clearly even in a noisy condition.

Recently got to use this mic for a Christmas video. We brought kids in from our children's church to ask them questions about the Christmas story. The kids were obviously adorable and the mic performed so well! It's so much lighter than expected, as well! I'm all about having a light but professional rig. I currently own a GH4 and a few Panasonic ASPH lenses and when I mount this mic, it's as if .5oz were added to the camera. So in love with this thing and ready to use it for future projects!

We were blown away by the sound and build quality. This unit is very lightweight and seems very efficient. In fact, we left the unit on accidentally for 24 hours and still had plenty of battery left. A Great buy for our 5D Mark IV.

This mic fits a unique niche as an excellent audio quality mic that is both stereo and shotgun. I use it for high quality music videos all the time, though few reviews mention it for this use. Love the gain settings and the build quality. Could have put the power LED in the back where it's visible, but that's certainly not a deal breaker.

I have been using this microphone-set for 8 months now. When it works, I am very satisfied with the results. There are times however, when the one of the microphones has very perceptible static (right-side). I have not figured out what triggers this, but it ruins the recording. It's very disappointing and I am considering what change to make.

This is an amazing mic rig for shooting family videos with great pickup and rejecting back noise. Sound quality is great and works well with a Canon 5D Mk 4 Only disappointment is that it does not come with a storage case to protect it and carry it for shoots. (I had to get a Pelican 1120 case and cut the foam, but holds it and the wind sock well).
