I'm a wedding videographer and somebody else told me i need to get this microphone. He knew what he was talking about because this mic is awesome! I have a Canon 5d and the internal sound isnt that great but if you have this microphone the sound is amazing. I say this is arguably the best shotgun microphone for a DSLR camera out there.

I was surprised at how good this mic sounded. Purchased specifically for Canon 5d, I was expecting serviceable reference track audio. I was thrilled that the mic gives nice clean audio. It's by no means on par with a $ shotgun mic but it gets the job done and has become my audio solution for smaller shoots.

It is small; fits in a camera case. Easy to use. Good sound. However, it picked up the internal noise on my Canon Rebel, which for quality interviews wasn't cool, but that's a camera problem. I returned mine and went with a separate sound recorder.

I haven't tried any other mics for video recording, but it works great with my T2i as well as the Sony PCM-M10. Get the accessory kit that Sennheiser offers with the wind fluffy thing, it helps a lot if you plan on using it outdoors. Still using the original battery and it isn't even low. Way more discrete and looks less out of place on a T2i than the Rode VideoMic

This mike good for someone who wants it as a substitute to there internal mike. I have a Canon T2i camera and on negative mode it sounds the same as internal mike. On positive or picking up sounds at a distance it sounds better and louder then internal mike. It still has a hissing sound on either mode you are using.

I researched a lot of mics before I went with the Sennheiser MKE 400 and couldn't be happier. Great sound and well built. I would recommend this mic to anyone looking for a quality product for a reasonable price.

This improves the sound collected by DSLR shooting. Good options, easy to use and long battery life (provided you remember to turn it off). I like that it is metal construction and feels pretty solid for being so little. I thought the price was a little high compared to similar compact mics, but it seems to be worth it so far.

Perfect fit to my Canon 7D, in size and weigh, I use the MKE400 strictly on the hot shoe. Sound is greatly improved from the in-built mic. Totally out of frame with any lens I know and use. Fish-eye remains to be tested in that regard. I noticed that another brand also available for a lesser price at B&H could be mounted as well on a boom-pole but I'm not here yet...

Bought this for use on my D5 MkII mostly to keep down the wind noise. Easy to use and change batteries. Small size looks good in scale with the camera but audio did not test so well. Several tests recording audio with camera and even with editing did not sound as good as the on-board mike. Will return this one. Probably is a better choice than this for a D5 Mk II mike.

For good on-the-fly sound for your dslr, this is really the way to go. This helps get WAY better sound than just the built in microphone. Even when working with a complete crew, my sound mixers usually ask me to use this on-camera just in case.

Unavoidable white noise when used mounted on Canon T2i. Noise not present when using internal mic. Sound quality richer than internal mic, but the noise is not acceptable. Some suggest that turning off Image Stabilizer on lens is a solution, but did not work for me. Might be ok for loud environments. Comes with battery and regular windscreen. Super easy to use, plug and play, basically. Too bad. Expected more.

Great mic! Great bang for the buck. Im using this mic with my Edirol and my D800 to gather sound and do interviews more of a visual journalistic style of shooting with this setup. Its not as obtrusive as other mics that ive seen on the market. German engineering gathering great sound. I would recumbent this to others.

There's lots of offering in this category of microphones. I chose the Sennheiser MKE 400 because my background is as an audio engineer and I love the brand's offer microphones. For <$200, you get great Sennheiser sound, rugged build quality, and "high-end" options (+/- output control, on/off, low cut). Based on my experience and research, I think the MKE 400 is the best mic at it's price point and best value overall.

This little Sennheiser is a nice upgrade over the usually poor on-board mics found on consumer gear. Convenient stereo-mini connection avoids the need for XLR converters. A good add-on for cameras with internal mics that pick up camera/deck noise. Nicely built, decent sound quality and easy on batteries.

This is a fabulous mic. It is compact, very directional, easy to use (Plug and play) and my only gripe is the lack of an on/off light. There is no light to let you know the mic is on or off; however, it doesn't require a special/expensive battery, just a standard type. Awesome mic! Well worth the money.

This is a good quality microphone. Very compact which is what I was looking for 5D Mark II. Unfortunately it picks up image stabilizer noise coming from the lense when it is shoemount. The noise is not as bad as internal microphone but still quite noticeable.

I really like this microphone. I put it on my 60D and it is great! The biggest problem I have heard people say about this mic is that you can't control the levels, and if you have it on the + setting the levels sometimes peak. That has not been a problem on my 60D because it allows me to control the levels through the camera! I have had no complaints with this microphone!

Great fidelity for the human voice. Crisp and clear, but in no way thin. Very nice rolloff in the bass - feels solid, but no boom. Transforms the EOS M into an incredible machine. Great mic!
