I run 4 karaoke nights a week, so my mics get at least 24 hours a week of active stage time every week. The singers ranger from amazing to...well, it's karaoke and some people know how to use a mic, but many mumble or sing with the mic too far from their mouth. I try to do the best I can for them and this mic makes a HUGE difference. Like the e835 It is much more sensitive than the SM58 yet offers amazing feedback resistance, which allows me to turn the gain up or down to meet the singers level way better than the SM58 does. Then it goes from a rumbling low to falsetto like butter and makes even the e835 sound flat. The sound is more rich than hot and it just sounds good. Yes it is a lot more expensive, but I am never going back! ... More

This mic was recommended to me on a live sound forum. I was using an Shure SM58 and just wasn't being heard. I switched to this mic and boy, what a difference! It's so much easier to be heard and not have to strain. Thanks Sennheiser!

I have waited almost a year to write a review on this microphone, mostly because I wanted to give a thorough review versus the excitement of the first five minutes of use. In my situation, this microphone is being used in a lead singer capacity of a southern rock/blues band. In terms of use, I use it at every practice and it has/will be used at every venue we play. I've logged about 500 hours of usage thus far and I can say with all certainty that we'll never buy another brand of microphone. This microphone clearly picks up certain sounds that my old (Shure) SM58 would miss. My voice sounds so much bigger with this microphone and feedback is no longer an issue once we replaced our mics with these Sennheisers. This mic far surpassed my expectations and even though it costs a pretty penny you certainly get what you pay for with this mic. I love the look and feel of this mic and it has never let me down. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this microphone. ... More

Best vocal mic I've ever used. I've performed with it solo, in an acoustic duo (current situation) and in a full band. The e935 comes through in all situations. I also have a Neumann KMS135 condenser mic that I got based on reputation. The Sennheiser e395 sounds better in side-by-side comparisons. My current music partner has the standard Shure SM58. Whether we're using my PA (a Bose L1 Mod II) or his, we always have to turn the Shure up higher for "equal" levels and the Sennheiser still sounds crisper/clearer without as much background noise. This is the mic for anyone who wants to exploit the full potential of their voice on stage. ... More

So real. So beautiful. Absolutely no mud. On incredibly loud stages, the e945 is good to have as well, because its super-cardioid, whereas this e935 is cardioid. Super-cardioids fight penetrating side noise like drums, whereas regular cardioid would need to stay at least 3-4 feet away from drums usually. Both mics are absolutely wonderful. Stop looking for mics on mic reviews. If you have a good voice, and want the mic to accurately pick up how you sound, then you're done, this is your mic. This and the e945. When you get one, you'll want the other. Seriously.

We were opera singers for 20 years, and now teach and produce classical vocal music concerts and festivals. We bought a Sennheiser 935 and a Sennheiser 835 and ran an onstage comparison test. The 935 was clearer, and more natural sounding, as well as more forward in the mix. It sounded uncolored, and the way a voice should sound without a mic, just bigger and louder for out outdoor concert. We liked the 935 so much that we returned the 835 and bought another 935 so we would have a matched pair for our concerts and performances. Very happy with the results, and the singers liked working with the mic. ... More

I love it! This mic has excellent clarity and punch! My vocals are coming through much clearer now! After singing into this mic for a little while, I actually found my old dynamic mics to be a little fuzzy and flat sounding with certain consonants (F's, S's, T's, P's) so much that I was compensating for them vocally by shaping them differently or singing away from the mic. With the e935 I can lay right into it all the time and all of my consonants are coming through crystal clear! It's so nice that now I'm retraining myself to sing normally and I'm enjoying the difference in the quality of my vocals! Get this mic! ... More

Went by the GC in Asheville, NC to pick out a better vocal mic. I previously used a Shure SM58 and then went with a Sennheiser e835. Each had it's purpose. Used the SM 58 with a large PA and the 835 with an acoustic amp. As I got older, I decided go sell all my gear and downsize. I went with a Boss S1 Pro. However neither of these two mics had the sound I was looking for and the EQ adjustments on the S1 Pro were only bass and treble. If I backed off the bass, it lost warmth. If I brought up the treble, it sounded too bright and thin. I tried adding a small mixer, but still something was missing. When I got to GC, I tried every dynamic mic they had in the store. The sales person helped me narrow down my choices to the Shure Beta 58a and the Sennheiser e935. I purchased the 935, but wasn't 100% sure if I made the right choice. When I got home, I plugged in and WOW. Big difference and perfect for my voice. Found the sound I was looking for. Clear, but not too bright and warm, but not bassy. Very happy with my choice. ... There are certainly better microphones on the market but they cost much more than this and, for the money, this is a great mic. I've used Shure SM58 and SM57 mics for years and they are very good but, for vocals, this is the mic I turn to. It is used primarily in live applications but great for studio work as well. Sennheiser quality is excellent and the E935 is a great buy. I do almost all of my electronics related business with B&H because they are the best.

The best word I can use to describe the experience using the Sennheiser e935 is "transparent". Using the mic on stage for vocals results in an uncolored sound that is crisp and natural sounding. I have A/B tested this mic against the industry standard Sure SM58. When you listen to the Sure, it sounds perfectly normal. When you hear the Sennheiser, it is like someone removed the blanket from over your head. It reminds me of when I first got glasses to correct my vision. I didn't know that I saw poorly until I put them on for the first time. Suddenly, the world was in HD! I feel that since the mic sounds so clear and pure, it allows me to concentrate more on my singing with less strain to try to "Cut through". Other reviewers have noted a lack of low end from this mic. I feel that this is more of an increase in clarity and results in a sound that is out of the mud. ... More

Over the years I've basically used 3 different types of vocal mics - Shure Beta, Shure Sm58, and the Sennheiser e935. In every scenario the Sennheiser e935 blows the other two way. It's ability to cut through all other instruments is unparalleled. The mic is extremely balanced and never sounds thin. It's extremely durable and seems to last forever. If you clean it and keep it stored as it should be, you'll be able to enjoy it use after use. It's well worth the money. I've played in rock bands, grunge, Christian, Blues, Country, dueling pianos, and several other settings, and I use the e935 every single time without fail. ... More

I purchased this microphone at the GC in Raleigh, NC. When I ran it through several soundchecks against other microphones in the same price range, it was clear that the e935 was a "big" winner. The sound is robust but had the same level of detail as the Beta 87a condensor. As a matter of fact the two (2) mics sound identical in a performance setting as well as studio setting. This is a clear "10" in my opinion. This microphone is worth considering for professional use.

This microphone is outstanding. Like many people I have used mostly SHURE SM 58 and SM 58 beta microphones for live performance. The e935 delivers dynamic clear performance and cuts through better than the aforementioned SHURE microphones. Still love SHURE microphones, don't get me wrong, but the e935 is the best live performance microphone I have ever used...........

Coming from an EV N/D 767 as my go to standard mic, I wanted to try this out for acoustic shows where I don't need something so hot and big sounding. Price was right for their sale so I tried it and I am not disappointed at all. I also wanted something with a more forgiving pattern and this cardioid mic provides. It has a smooth sound and enough treble detail to make it an ideal acoustic mic for my male baritone vocals. I'll probably stick with my EV for loud, electric rock gigs geared towards more heavy music but this is just as good, just different. If I paid full price I might have been slightly disappointed that it's not that much better but that may just speak more for the EV. It's certainly miles better than my old SM58. ... More

I read the reviews extensively from end users and professional sites that rate music equipment before purchasing this mic. Many reviews sounded too good to be true. Specifically that this mic would cut through and rise above all the instruments in a live band setting. I thought, "Oh it must just have more gain than most other mics." But that's not the reason. I am a non-technical guy and all I can say is that it's like magic the way your vocals come through with this mic on a live soundstage even when your volume has not yet been adjusted up to where it should be compared to the rest of the band. ... These microphones are built solidly, they look great and they deliver a really wonderful live vocal, all with no need for phantom power, like with a Shure Beta87A/ Beta 87C, which I humbly suggest they are on par with. Compare these to a Shure SM58 and you will choose the e935---the e935 has more clarity, better definition and better feedback suppression which seems like a pretty solid combinations to me. Of course it does cost a bit more, but for the sake of no fuss vocal reproduction in live sound, it is a winner.
