I tried this in place of the ubiquitous Shure SM57 on my snare. To my ears it’s real step up in clarity and dynamics. I’m a big fan of Sennheiser mics, all beautifully built but more importantly they sound great. I suspect this is a useful all round mic that could be used for many circumstances, I know it’s great on guitar cabs.

I have been using a shure mp57 to mike my guitar amp for my Church worship band for a couple of years. I bought the sennheiser and have used it twice. I am very happy with the sound, and the sound man says there is a definite improvement. It is also more forgiving and easier to set up, just hang it over the front of the amp, suspended from the handle of the amp.

This e906 has worked very well in micing up my guitar amps. Sennheiser really dropped the ball on the mic clip though, it is so much too small that it won't fit the shank of the mic easily or at all. I contacted Sennheiser Support and they ADMITTED the clip is very small and hard to install at best. Other than that, this is a great Mic.

There is a reason this particular microphone is so popular. It is an excellent microphone for recording instruments. Very clear and has excellent response. Very happy with this microphone. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a precise microphone for recording instruments, especially guitar.

Perfect! Just hang it over the edge and jobs a good un! Theres more expensive mics out there and folk will argue all day about what's the best, but if you want no nonsense mic that you can just hang over the edge of your amp and capture your guitar more or less how you hear it then look no further.

It just takes your sound and tells you how it sounds. Very little coloration to my ear. I personally add the presence because I find my Orange a bit dark. Phenomenal mic. Definitely gonna buy another one at some point.

This is an excellent microphone - sound quality is excellent and setup is a breeze - run the XLR cable under the handle or tape the cable to the top of the cab with gaffers tape, attach the mic the cable end and drape it in front of the cab - no stand required.

i have sm57, e609 & this e906 mostly used for miking guitar cab, and e906 is my go to microphone for this task, it captures sweet midrange, gritty textures & harmonics of your guitar amps very nicely

Have had an e609 for a while - good mic but seemed thin compared to a 57 for guitar. The e906 is fuller, richer, and even better for me than a 57 - and being able to hang it from the top of the cab makes stage and studio micing easier. If you like a 609 or 57 you'll love a 906.

I am using this dynamic microphone on a 4x12 ENGL Standard Cabinet equipped with Celestion V12-60 speakers and the e 906 certainly does its job! Delivering clear, uncolored sound directly from the cabinet speaker. I love it!

My go to mic for guitar amps in live production events. This one brings it with the ability to shape the tone using the three way switch. May be one the only things my roadie Kevin can't destroy.

I don't have to worry about feedback for live sound mic-ing a small amp thru a PA; and for demo recording at lower volumes the sound is MUCH wider and more natural sounding than an SM57. I knew it would be fine before I bought one to try, but I think the Youtube reviews don't really do it justice.

We purchased this piece to mic a guitar amp and we are VERY pleased with the results. Thick, clear sound quality with lots of dbs before any distortion is evident. The price was excellent but honestly I would have paid full retail to get the results. Great microphone!

609's are great but wanted to stop low end at the source, the 906's are the mic for that. with 906 flat on the amp grill & low end rolled off it's clean, crisp sound. on one of my old 50's amps with a little tiny oval speaker the boost position is a plus.

This mic sounds great and is amazing for studio, even live performances. Highly recommend. I’d love to see a shootout between this mic and a sm57!

I have several nice mic right here, but for a super fast setup with killer results, this is the mic that goes up "in the moment". Seems a little more detailed that a SM57... but really close in in getting a good guitar tone with little to no effort.

Great on guitars but I also use it as a bottom snare mic sometimes. Great to use to get different sounds.

Curioso....

I've been a sm57 guy for years...not anymore. Wish I had tried it sooner. My mixes sound way better. It loves my 2x12 Orange Cab.

I love the SM57 but this one takes the cake for guitars. Killer mic and easy placement on a guitar cab.
