I use Sennheiser E865 for more than 5 Years, and never been upset about this microphone. Great thing about it that it has very clear sound, works perfectly for every kind of voice, but i find it the best in having it for Male Vocal. because it picks up low frequencies really good and makes any voice sound very rich.

Without a doubt probably the best hand held condenser for stage and studio I have ever come across. All voices are different, of course and there is a lot of misses before you get a hit. I tried at least five different ones and some were very close and some had a very brittle high end. EQ solves many problems like that but to save yourself a lot of searching ....and money... try this one first if you are in the market for a hand held large condenser mic... any Sennheiser mic I ever owned was terrific. There may be better out there but if you consider price and balanced sound this one is hard to beat in my humble opinion...When I got the urge to try something else I always went back to this.... We had a need at my church for a microphone that would clear up some of the muddiness in our worship leader's voice, something that would be clear while also not picking up every single sound on stage. he sings in the bass range and that sometimes gets lost among the instruments. When this mic went on sale it seemed like just the thing. We are very happy with it. If you want something with a little more presence and delivery than a dynamic mic, at an affordable price, this is the one to get.

Much better than my dynamics as a vocal stage mic. No issues with feedback, and plosives seem controlled. However, the top-end of this condenser mic is still more rolled-off than I expected based on the frequency response graphs compared with my studio condensers and calibrated measurement mic. Microphone FR graphs need to be taken with a grain of salt. The On/Off switch works great, and is silent in use.

I used to be faithful shure user until i noticed while using in ears that some frequencies were distorted when i sung, i thought was my voice or the in ears later to find out that was the mics i was using (beta57 - beta 58) This mic was the solution, smooth frequency response and full body sound, love it!

Before purchasing this, I actually purchased a Sennheiser e965 condenser vocal, which is apparently their top-of-the-line handheld vocal mic. While it was certainly a very high quality mic which I am sure works great for many others, it just didn't fit my voice, even with some EQ experimentation. So, I sent it back and decided to try the e865. Yes! Incredible warmth and presence, able to cut through the band with room to spare, great intelligibility. Short story, I love this mic!

I have several different brands of mic's from Shure to EV to Sennheiser. This is one of the better condenser mic's that works great for a vocalist that sings softer than normal and does not get into the mic as close as they probably should. Clean and crisp, but handles the mids and lows that are needed when you want the audience to feel what you are singing. Love it!!!

used for southern gospel group as vocal mics. bought to replace some old AKG condenser mics that had seen to many miles. these Sennheiser 856e will pull even the most timid singers out of the noise and make it possible to hear them. they sound great and very little problem with feed back.

I've always enjoyed the Sennheiser products. This one is no different. Other than the normal things about the mic that you'll love, i.e. great sound and quality manufacturing, you'll love the little extra benefit of the absolutely silent on/off switch that can (get this) be locked in the "on" position using a small screw on the switch. What an awesome feature!

WOW!! Just got this mic, today. I already had great respect for Sennheiser and their products. The e865 has blown me away!! It is so clean and clear. No feedback, whatsoever, and it is a condenser. Every other Condenser I have tried has given massive feedback. I has great sound, right through its entire spectrum. I am VERY happy!! I may have to buy more of these!! BTW, it is built like a tank!!

Nothing bad to say about this mic. I bought four(4) units for my band vocals and couldn't be happier.

I needed a high quality mic under $300 for some narration project in my home studio. This mic picks up subtle nuances and delicate texture of female voice nice and clean. But it doesn't pickup unwanted environmental sound including my husband's piano practice upstairs. Amazing. A nice silky touch on the handle and its timeless design make it all elegant. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Great microphone, picks up voice very well in the midst of a lot of stage instruments and monitors. Has a warm delivery, is not brassy, and you can control volume very well by moving backwards from the mic if need be. It has excellent volume output and pushes away the other sound. Would highly recommend.

What can I say other than this is awesome! We are rocking the E865 as a ENG handheld mic. We have it paired to a Sennheiser plug on transmitter providing phantom. The pickup pattern is awesome, point at sound, you get sound.

I love this mic -- easily better than my previous lead vocal mic (an EKG that is now discontinued) -- I compared them side by side and always preferred the Sennheiser. Haven't tried it onstage yet, but it definitely gave me more authority in rehearsal. Nice, warm tone in a sleek package.

I am a jazz vocalist and I LOVE this mic!!! The tone is gorgeous and warm and I am able to almost whisper and get beautiful pick up of my voice. The best mic I've ever owned.

This microphone and its brother, the e865S (with an on/off switch) produce rich sound, much like a dynamic microphone even though they are condensers. They feel very solid and well built, and in that sense, they are fairly heavy. They deal fairly well with handing noise.

Ive used this mic for a few interviews now and Im delighted with the results. The tone is lovely and warm with great results for a deeper voice like mine. The quality is impressive with no sound transfer from the shaft whatsoever.
