used it for 1 show so far, worked good. i like the fact that i did not need a mic stand. just hung it over my hotrod deluxe so the mic was in between the cone and the surround of the speaker, sounded good

It sounds great...period. I was stuck in a stubborn rut about only using the same mic to record a guitar cab with. I finally woke up and bought some other mics. This was one of them. I hear what people have been saying for years. Buy one! They don't cost much, and they really do sound fantastic on guitar.

Pair these with a 57 and you'll have a wonderfully full and textured tone on any guitar amp.

I had been using low quality condenser mic for recording my blues deluxe, and I still like it, but the Sennheiser is a major step up. I especially notice the difference in high gain/ fuzz recordings. Plus I love not needing a mic stand; you can just drape it or hang it. I’m all about reducing floor clutter as my “studio” is also my laundry room;) Great purchase and great price!

Have always used SM 57s for guitar cabinet microphones but never felt they were all that great and accepted that I would loose some tone. Not so with the e609. It sounds much better and the flat design is great! Just hang it over the can right in the center of a speaker! It handles high volume no problem. This mic gives the FOH mix more of what you want!

I have bought this mic for a fairly large church. I use this mic for the Hammond B-3 at my church and it sounds awesome. It picks up everything with clearity. I recommend this mic for an organ or keyboard player out there.

The e609 is a great choice for micing guitar cabs. It's form factor makes it easy to place and allows it to reject bleed from other sources on stage. In the studio it has a nice mid frequency focus that works well in combination with brighter dynamics like the SM57. The older black has a darker tone than the silver edition.

I've used a Sm57 for ever,& it always did it's job it just would get in the way (the bass player has big feet)on small stage setut's,I needed the e609 for tight placement and when I can, place behind a plexiglass shield so there's no bleed from other instruments(Drummers) on stage. it has a very nice overall mid frequency as well as mid his that works well in live setup's.

So far I've been satisfied with every track I've recorded with this mic. My "studio" isnt exactly acoustically treated and i still end up with a solid recording in which my amps tone comes through. that's important to me. and for that price I gave it the fifth star.

I just bought this mic about 2 weeks ago and it does the job quite nicely. I'm using a Bandit 112 and I'm loving my rig all over again. I drape it over the speaker grill and to one side and it picks up the natural guitar sound from the amp, so much that my band mates tell me that they can hear me all over the stage. Don't have to play as loud anymore as I have total volume control at the board level. Do yourself a big favor and buy one and try it, you won't be sorry. Awesome!!! ... More

Works great as a guitar-amp mic. You can hang it over the top of the amp, or use something like the K&M 25950 (or 25900) stands. I'm not enamored with Sennheiser's mic clips, but they function; I'd be concerned about repeatedly attaching/removing mics from those clips. That could be unwarranted, but time will tell. Otherwise the mic sounds perfect for my needs (micing guitar amps)

Great Sound guitar mic, captures tone, more clarity than the typical SM 57 brighter sound without being harsh. Also easy to position due to flat design, you can hang right off the amp or speaker cabinet or use a mic stand. And can be positioned close to speaker cab to reduce bleed from other instruments.

it has more highs and lows than the std 57... and is scooped in the mids. i found it sounding pretty processed right out of the gate... if you want a scooped sizzley sound this will give it to you ... does not do anything other than in front of an amp very well .. i tried vocal and acoustic gtr.... it was convenient for hanging over an amp live .. that is the strong point .. did not love this mic

Great mic for the guitar amps. We just wrap XLR cables over the top of the amps/cabs and the Sennheiser will sit flat against the cabinet face. Great for those of us who have to go "minimalist" on the stage. Great sound back to the mixer. I have these in my studio as well. If you want all the mic dynamics please visit the Sennheiser site.

Been using a 57 for as long as I can remember; no complaints, but I know a few sound guys that like the 609 better so I gave it a try. I love the fact that it hangs conveniently over the front of the amp; no stands or brackets necessary! Sounds great!

This mic reproduces guitar tones accurately, it has a much broader range than your usual 57s though I like them for guitar & other stuff I prefer the 609 for capturing my sound.

We wanted to mic our two guitar amps so we could run them through our monitors. We had been just running vocals through our monitors and we had problems hearing the guitars. A sound engineer recommended these mics. We got two and they work great!

I use this mic for recording at home, and for live sessions, use it on my fender mustang amp and it's perfect! For the price this is great. I would definitely recommend it! If you are thinking about getting a $40-50 mic (for guitar recording) i'd say be patient, save and get this one

Used this mic for the first time this weekend, was awesome. Nice microphone for guitar amp. The low-profile design makes it easy to place the mic right in the sweet spot of the amp. Nice clear, clean tone. Very happy with the purchase.
