I have been using the AVX for a few weeks now and it's the best wireless mic system I have ever tried. I have owned several wired and wireless mic systems over the years at all price ranges. I had been using the Audio Technica wireless system 10 for a couple years and I was pleased with it until I compared it to this. I was always spending time in post trying to clean up the Audio Technica to open up the condensed feeling I would get. The price difference between the 2 has grown a lot since I bought the Audio Technica. Sennheiser not only sounds the best but is the easist to work with. I spend less time editing the audio in post than I ever have before. I know some people may think paying 900 for for a wireless mic system but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. It's just that good and if you want to step up your audio game than this the system for you. ... More

I currently use this product to make videos on my Nikon D5100. The audio I get is so clear and the kit is top notch. Don't expect anything less as Sennheiser is a well respected brand with the products to back it up. The transponder and receiver are paired very easily and straightforward. It has an adapter from the receiver so that you can use it with the normal microphone jacks on lower end cameras. You don't need an XLR capable camera to use this. Regarding the price, you get what you pay for with this high quality product. For person serious with making video that has clear audio, I would recommend this. Great for interviews or just anything in general that requires talking on camera. No wires is a plus! ... More

The AVX Wireless Kit was great to use as a first timer. I used it making my first CMF short film. As a first timer I was a bit worried that I would be a bit confused as to what goes where, what device connects with what, etc. But it was actually really easy. The audio that was picked up with the mic was great, I used it for video footage audio and for voiceover! The only confusion I had was figuring out where the charger cable should be plugged in (for the receiver): It's under the blue tip with a rubber flap covering it. One charge for the receiver and transmitter lasted for the whole shooting of the movie, so the battery life was great. Everything is pretty self explanatory as to how its used, and I had a great time working with this equipment. ... More

Overall I'm very happy with the AVX system. This is much simpler to operate than their G3 system. No frequency scan, very little to adjust. I enjoy the easier setup and operation. The audio output is stable and clean, without periodic signal interference I would get on the G3, even after a frequency scan. I record lectures that run 2-3 hours. Seems like the G3 always exhibited some degree interference during recording. I have not noticed any signal interference with the AVX at all. My only complaint with the system is that the camera shoe mount for the receiver seems pretty cheap/plastic (takes a lot of force to initially install/ remove the receiver into the bracket. You only need the mount for DSLR operation. Besides that, a great system. ... More

We have the G2 and G3 series and the are solid systems after reading about the AVX I wanted to give it a try and I am happy I did. We shoot a lot of Auto dealer Tv spots and shows on location these dealers ships are mostly located in busy areas that have a lot of electrical lines and heavy traffic that cause interference with most wireless systems. We were amazed when we used the AVX Not one hit or drop-out even inside the dealership where there are many cell phones being used the batters lasted the day and still had power to spare the Camera we shot with was a Sony Fs7 and the receiver was set on 2 ... Holy moley. This is unbelievable. It just magically works, every time. Practically zero setup just turn on the receiver and the transmitter, and they auto-find each other. No noise, no static, no interference, no hunting for an available channel... just crystal clear sound, every time. I've used the super-expensive Lectrosonics (maybe more durable and longer signal range, but the audio is no better and they're a bigger pain to configure)... and I tried the Sony UWP-D11 set ($529), which had tons of noise and a bad 'squelch' that ruined any possibility of delicate audio signals (like speaking softly). This Sennheiser unit is literally my new favorite product. ... More

Very easy to use. I love the form of the receiver. Two of the receivers fit very nicely onto my Sony HVR Z7U. They feel quite durable. There is no little whip antenna to worry about breaking off. You need to know there is a 19ms delay in the audio. It's easy enough to adjust for in editing, and you only notice it if you're mixing the wireless ATX audio with a hardwired source, or the older G3 mics. I would buy this again, and I'd buy a charging dock if one was available that would charge both the transmitters and the receivers. The good news is during a long interview, I plugged a small usb power supply into the receiver on my camera, and it charged it while I shot. ... More

I bought one of these a few years back and just bought a second set and can't say enough good about them. They are very reliable, very solid build, I love having rechargeable batteries instead of having to have a huge stash of AA's and never knowing which ones are good and which ones are dead. I recently did a shoot with a bunch of kids near a swimming pool and one of the kids ended up jumping into the pool with her mic still on (not recommended)... I was freaking out thinking it was dead for sure, but put it in a bag of rice for a day and tried it and it's working just like new!!! Probably don't try that at home, but anyhow... a testament to the solid build of the units none the less. ... More

This is not a toy... it produces results that will be hard to distinguish from a Lectrasonics if you're plugged to a great pre/recorder. The dynamic range of the unit is a bit narrow as one would expect from an automatic gain system such as this. Its very sophisticated. For those out there wondering about whether the noise floor rises as the speakers are quiet, its not the case. The unit maintain the same noise level. Its very clever and sounds fantastic or our applications. It will likely become a beast once coupled with a DPA or Sanken.. also, there is no RF interference whatsoever. Really really well designed little device. Well done Sennheiser! ... More

Sennheiser sent me their ME2 lav kit of their AVX platform for review, and I'm not sure I could go back to my old setup anymore! The ME2 kit of the Sennheiser AVX wireless microphone system has made my one-man YouTube production much more efficient. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up, and once you set it up the first time, just turn on the mics and go! The rotatable XLR connection plugs right into my audio mixer, and the mic clips on my shirt, I'm ready to shoot much quicker than before! Plus, the audio quality is superb! It's easily on part with my Rode NTG-2 shotgun mic and Procaster desktop mic after post-processing. A level of quality I've never had in a lav mic before. ... More

I'll cut straight to the chase... The Sennheiser AVX should be in every pro's audio kit. This is a product designed with professionals in mind. It's compact, user friendly, and smarter than me at times. Over the past few years, my go-to lav was the Tascam DR-10L (which I still own, but have since sold my second one). The AVX eliminates the need for syncing in post or recording onto a micro SD card for hours at a time. While the included ME2 sounds good, I certainly plan to upgrade to the MKE1 or MKE2 in the near future.

I just upgraded from the Sennheiser EW 100 G1 kit. It had been my goto kit for years, but I was starting to notice more and more interference. I hate to use the words "plug n play", but thats about all I did the first time out with the AVX system on my Panasonic AG DVX200. The digital link was quick and the sound quality is wonderful. The size of the transmitter is very nice, but the receivers size is really cool. No need for a bracket, just plug the receivers in the XLR ports and start recording. So far battery life is very good. The built quality is excellent. I purchased two kits and I am very happy. ... More

Sennheiser sent this out for me to review and I couldn't be happier, I have the e3 112 system and this is now replacing that. The set up is amazingly easy and dare I say idiot proof...it took me a little bit to get the 112 set set up but the AVX was super simple. Oh and by simple I mean there was no set up, the tech in this set takes away any guess work. The price on this system may seem steep but from what I have seen its we'll worth the upgrade. The biggest advantage (besides the easy set up) from the 112 to the AVX is the rechargeable batteries, its a cleaner look and IMO a more professional look as well. ... More

Just bought the avx system when it was on sale. In fact I bought two. Perfect timing because my job needed to mic 2 individuals having a discussion. I love the small receiver that directly plugs into my camera...it's solid. Best part of this system is (1) ease of use (2) fast set up (3) reliability (sound) no more cracles, sudden burst of interferece. I used to own the (G2) mic and that had these anoying burst of interferece that had to be corrected in post...it took forever. I wasnt the best at setting it up and most likely didn't find the right frequency? AVX does it automatically. Saves me the worry, and when I press record I am confident about the sound. ... More

I have had 3 of these mics for over a year, but lately, whenever I use them with my H6 or H4 recorder, they give me a hum or electronic noise. I thought it was maybe my H6, but I have 2 H6's and 1 H4 and it always occurs. My friend used another Sony recorder and no issues. So, I am not sure what is going on, but I am selling my AVX mics because I can't afford any issues ever. Other than that, I love them.

OK, it is pricy - but the Sennheiser AVX Digital wireless set is super simple to use and has great sound quality. Open the box, charge up the units (transmitter and receiver), push the link buttons on both units and wait for confirmation, plug in the XLR receiver into the camera and put the clip the Lav and the transmitter on the talent and you're in business. This is the easiest system I've ever owned. I do recommend getting spare batteries if you're doing an extended shoot, otherwise you find this to be what a digital product ought to be - easy, compact, light and reliable. ... More

I have used this with a Canon XA20 camcorder and Canon 5D Mark III. The sound is clear and the ME2 lav mic Omni mic will pick up a lot of ambient sound as well as the main talent. This unit is very compact and syncs quickly and plays well with DSLRs and video cameras. Well worth the money. ... More

Where to start? Thin audio is to live with. Having to charge the batteries is a potential disaster - if you forget. But the worst is the delay the digital processing produces. If you combine it with an analog system without a delay, monitoring is a pain, as you get a kind of echo when monitoring. And then you have to move the audio to sync in post!!! Only plus is a small receiver.

It looks great, and it sounds great. Its very easy for the frequencies to sync up and begin recording right away. A concern for me is the specific battery. Unlike having AA's to continue feeding it, when it's dead it's dead unless you spend more $$$ on extra batteries. It says it lasts at least three hours so it might not be an issue for many. Also...no manual gain control? I purchased this for those who are just getting started using this type of equipment so it seems pretty perfect!
