Very good value for money.Ccompared to my Sennheiser ME66, which is longer, a tiny bit heavier and more expensive, the Senal has almost the same sound quality, a tiny bit thinner, than the Sennheiser, but still very good sound quality. Especially in noisy environments, in an A/B test, the Senal was MUCH better in canceling out noises from the side and back of the capsule. Ending up in superior final sound quality in noisy environments, or echo-ey rooms. Given that the Senal is much shorter this was a very nice surprise. For quiet outdoor and also dry studio work the Sennheiser seems to have a bit superior sound quality (more warm and softer high end). The S/N ratio of the Senal is not very far behind the Sennheiser. The Sennheiser ME66 being famous for being one of the most quiet microhones on the market. 5 stars especially for the price and the extreme capability to cancel out noise from the side and the back. All in a small and light form factor. ... More

The quality of this mic is great. Good, solid build quality. Metal body, yet fairly lightweight. Most importantly, it has low enough self-noise that I would call it truly broadcast quality. It is quite short, which is beneficial both on an overhead boom or on-camera. However, the personality of this microphone (the sensitivity across the frequency spectrum) is very heavy in the mid-range frequencies, much more than is indicated on the frequency response graph. In my opinion, it is so extreme as to render the microphone unsuitable for dialog recording without some sort of EQ post-processing. This review is for the short -ES model. The manufacturer's specifications suggest many things are identical with the -EL model, but I don't know how they can be, since the length of the interference tube is substantially different. ... This mic went on sale (with a free dead cat offer) for cheap, so I ordered it. Received it a few days later and as I unboxed it, I noticed it rattled when shaken. Tested it with a recorder and sure enough, move it back and forth (interview style) and all you hear is loud bangs! I sent it back. The replacement arrived (however B&H shipped it back to me without pre-paid custom clearance to Canada - so UPS wanted money. Um, no! - A few emails back and forth - and a few package rejections later - it finally got delivered no charge.) And guess what? Microphone #2 rattled! I was about to send it back, when a tech friend opened it up and re-sat the mic unit into the tube. Rattle gone - problem solved! I also own the MC24-EL (long mic with battery) and this one doesn't rattle! The two mics sound identical. I'm only giving the short mic 3 stars because of the quality control issues. ... More

I had been looking for a shotgun mic that would not break the bank. I landed on the Senal MC24-ES Pro shotgun mic. I am producing company product videos, and incorporate interviews with vendors from time to time. The Senal MC24-ES paired with a Tascam DR-60D audio recorder and Neewer 48V Phantom power supply produces excellent sound! The mic feels durable and has a solid feel. I find during sound editing, there is not much tweaking needed, if at all. I am happy with the purchase and impressed with the Senal product! Would recommend without hesitation. A great alternative to RODE, and other higher dollar offerings. ... More

Excellent choice for me as an event videographer to upgrade from the original Rode Video Mic I have used for the last 6 years. Very focused, smooth, warm, even response even from several feet away from sound source. My only con is that it does not snugly fit the mic holder on my Sony camcorder. I have rigged a few rubber bands as a temporary solution which works just fine, but I will have to get a couple of O rings. Price point was excellent and also managed to snag an instant rebate with free shipping. Great deal! I am very pleased. Way to go Senal and B&H! ... More

I'm using this as a camera mounted microphone on my C300mkII. The size of it is perfect - compact and doesn't hang too far off the camera, making it ideal for docu-style footage. I was previously using the Rode NTG-2, a great microphone that also has battery power. I switched to the Senal, and not only was it less expensive, I thought the sound was even a touch better. If you have phantom power and looking for a compact setup, I can't think of a better option.

Not a very hot mic but with a solid preamp it can certainly get quality audio for the price. Very respectable noise floor even if you have to bump up the gain to say, 68, on an H4n. Weighs next to nothing and short, so great for an on-camera mic, but being phantom power only, again, you need that preamp on most cameras. I like its tonal quality on male resonance, but all things being equal, I'd probably spend an extra 10 bucks and get the Azden SGM-250P.

I want to give it less stars, but for the price, it's actually quite good. If you need a short, low-cost, on-camera mic, this will work. My favorite feature is the low handling noise. When moving around or adjusting the camera, this mic stays silent. The sound quality is just fine for ambient natural sound. I wouldn't recommend it as a boom mic for dialog. It sounds muddy and soft. I rarely record dialog with an on-camera mic. When I do, I wish I had a better mic.

Extremely good directionality, nice frequency response. Very useful for noisy environments, where strong directionality is required. Very small and light weight. Only critique point is the relatively high self noise. No problem at all in noisy environments, but not recommended for dead silence interview scenarios in studio, etc...

I was looking for another mic to match my Sennheiser k6. I tried a couple before settling on this and am super happy with the way it sounds. Ive used it for podcasting, narrative and doc work. It captures a warm, honest sound and gives a lot of bang for your buck. [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

So this was my first attempt reviewing a shotgun mic. I was not sure what to expect, but what I got......was a smooth detailed sound that I could keep out of the camera view. Podcasting, instruments, voice over, and video ALL can be done with great quality with this fairly priced gem. [I received this product in exchange for my honest review]

Great shotgun. Very directional and makes a spectacular interview mic when used with a boom. Highly recommended. Strongly suggest you buy a cuff to go around the mic or it might not fit snugly into the hold er on some cameras - the PXW X 70 for example.

The only good thing I can say about it is that it rejects handling noise pretty well, which is what you want for an on-camera mic. But it just doesn't sound good. Voice sounds unnatural and muddy. The pickup is weak. The price is good, but I would happily pay more for clearer sound.

I bought this to mount to my camcorder. So far, it seems to work great. When I crank the gain up on my camera, I can almost hear a whisper at 10 yards.
