I eagerly awaited to receive this system based on reading about the claims of interference free wireless transmission via the 5.8 Ghz band. First impression, I open the box and am satisfied with the built quality and included accessories at this price point. I charge the batteries, plug in the included lavalier mic and attach the receiver to a powered speaker. For the next 15 minutes, everything is working as expected and I'm not experiencing nearly as much interference as I had with other systems in this price range. I am thinking this is pretty good. I carefully unplug the mic from the transmitter and place everything back in the included carry case. The next morning, I'm rehearsing for a future web based live presentation. This time ... I hear no sound ... complete silence. I'm perplexed, and go through all the connections and linking procedures step by step, double checking that nothing is improperly wired or inadvertently muted. All checks are good and the LCD display shows everything is as it should be for proper operation, yet ... still no sound. Then I have an idea...Fortunately, the unit also has a separate line-in port; so I connect my phone (playing some music) using the 1/8 jack to the transmitter and hear sound coming through the speakers. Separately, I attach the included lavalier mic to a portable tape recorder I have, and it records fine. Bottom line ... the microphone port on the transmitter malfunctioned in less than 15 minutes of very gently use. I considered getting a replacement unit, but have instead decided to explore other options. It's unfortunate that such things happen, however, I feel that any wireless mic system needs to be built with robust connectors and be rugged for live performance handling, particularly at the point where the microphone cable attaches to the transmitter (which is the stress point where the most movement occurs.) Based on decades of quality control experience, I am convinced that the design and placement of this connector on the side of the VmicLink5 transmitter is unreliable in the long run. For those willing to take the chance the system seems to deliver on decent interference free transmission. However, should anything go wrong outside of the return period, I am not confident that Saramonic can support the needs of the end user in a timely manner (based on other reviewers experiences I have come across). This is only my second return to B&H in over 30 years of shopping with them! B&H is awesome and have never let me down. ... More

B and H Love, no doubt about that. My problem is with the Saramonic VmicLink5 as well as the company. I purchased the product 6 months ago and it worked amazingly well with no issues. Two months later the one receiver just completely died. I searched all over online hoping to find a way to fix it There is absolutely nothing online that show this issue or how to fix it. It says warrenty in China but four months of writing to China if received no respese back, so this is 800 dollars wasted.

The Saramonic unit was very easy to set up and get going right away on my Canon 5D Mk3. Everything is there to hook everything up and go. Now, I have just received my Saramonic and have done some preliminary test and so far it works fine. For the price this does a pretty decent job. I also like that I can add on another transmitter without having to add another receiver. What was a surprise to me was that the units came with a hard plastic carrying case to protect everything. Like I said, for the price, the sound is pretty good. I would give it a higher rating, but I have not run it through a lot of trials, and its not a higher end wireless unit like a Sennheiser (which I used before and is really good, but a whole lot more!). If you are starting out, this is a good option. ... More

Functionality of the mics is fine. But the batteries are terrible. When we first started working, one of the batteries would not hold a charge. Saramonics sent a replacement. That one also didn't work. They sent a second replacement. That worked for a few months. Just did another live demo today, and two of the four batteries died after 1 hour of use. And the second replacement they sent when put in the charger, says it is fully charged after a minute. So clearly it is not charging correctly.
